VAN NICE ERIC DVM FAVD AVDC

I did not read these reviews prior to calling Dr Nice’s practice, however, I wish I had. I came to this vet’s info by googling animal dentist in the area to get a second opinion on my cat’s teeth (not a referral from his primary vet). I phoned his office last week on a Friday and the line rang to VM. After hearing the answering message, I realized they are not open on Fridays. Ok, no biggie… I called again today… Monday…no answer AGAIN… and straight to VM it went. I called three more times between the hours of 1p and 3pm and I never once spoke to a human being. All calls went to Vm. Idk how they stay in business because his office person (s) don’t answer the phone. Then I read these reviews. I’m almost glad I didn’t speak to this person who is keeping guard of her boss for some odd reason. I’ll look up other vet dentists.

I was referred to Dr. Van Nice. I wish I could give you a review based on Dr. Van Nice but I never got that far. I was treated so rudely by «Julie», his front office gal. I called to book an appointment and was treated like I was some kind of idiot. Julie, in my opinion, is the type of person who takes joy in talking down to others. I called my vet back because after talking to Julie I was left feeling like maybe my vet, who I have always trusted, was incorrect with his diagnosis of a «cavity». Julie was quick in laughing at me and saying” cats don’t get cavities. Your vet needs to do some reading”! Do you think that maybe my vet was keeping it simple so that the expert, Dr. Van Nice, NOT JULIE, could further explain the situation with me? So I explained the my encounter with Julie to my vet and my husband and they both agreed that maybe Julie was just having a bad day. After all, we’re all entitled to a bad day. So I called again. This time NOT using the term «cavity» but resorption lesion and she STILL corrected me saying. It’s resobTIVE lesion! Seriously Julie, Google the damn word you I’ll mannered person. I truly wish I could give you my option of Dr Van Nice. I’ve worked for Dr Jean Dodds or years and she always spoke highly of Dr Van Nice and I was excited to meet him but, I’m taking my cat and business to Dr. Furman. So far, his front office staff is friendly and helpful. Not rude and condescending like Julie.

As others have indicated, Dr. Van Nice’s office manager is unbelievably difficult. No phone call was ever answered directly. All my phone calls went to voice mail. No voice mail was ever answered within four hours. She sent me to the back to weigh my dog on my own, too lazy to even show me where the scale is. Her attitude is, at best, «chilly.» She refused to give me a quote for services over the phone. She ignored requests from my regular vet for the dental report. Dr. Van Nice is professional, good with my dog, explained everything and answered all my questions. I would go back to him, except for the crappy service I received from his manager. I cannot for the life of me understand why he tolerates that kind of behavior. He surely must know about it, as others have written essentially what I have written. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. It shouldn’t be this hard to get treatment for your pet, especially when your pet needs immediate treatment, as mine does.

Dr. Van Nice is wonderful. He understands greyhounds and is diligent with their care. He did a wonderful job on our 12 year old hospice dog. I highly recommend him.
His office staff needs some training in returning phone calls and having a ‘customer’ presence. That is my only issue. Getting an appt. was not as easy as it should have been.
How times change: Once I got in to see Dr. Van Nice… He is the BEST. Understands greyhounds and how to deal with them. I highly recommend Dr. Van Nice.

I rang Dr. Van Nice’s office and left a message that I had two older dogs in need of dental work (as my vet said that their teeth needed more work than just a non-​anesthetic cleaning) and I would like to get a consultation. The woman who rang me back said in a quite disdainful voice, «We are a referral service only.» She was hesitant to answer my questions. With an attitude of you just don’t get it and you are wasting my time. I left the conversation feeling as if I was no better than the dog poop that she had just stepped on with her shoe.
