The Rose Spa At The Cascades

Katie LaRoy at The Rose Spa is the best stylist I have ever used. I have curly, crazy frizzy hair and she knows how to work with it.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s hi-​lights, low lights, color, haircut or just a wash and blow dry she does such an outstanding job every time! Also for up dos and special occasion hairstyles she can match a picture perfectly.
Definitely go see Katie! She is the best.

Beware expecting mothers! I came here for a prenatal massage, booked ahead of time to make sure they were trained in that type of massage, and had a very uprofessional session. When I arrived, the pregnancy pillow they had was already being used so she rolled up a towel and had me put it under my belly (laying face down on the table). It was extremely uncomfortable. The massage therapist did not focus at all on the one area, my right shoulder, that I said was bothering me. She also «massaged» as in scrunched up my hair for almost 10 minutes. It was the most bizarre massage I’ve ever had and not at all relaxing. I emailed the spa to let them know about my experience, more to let them know they need to be more careful with women when they are expecting, and never received a response. For a business based on customer service they sure don’t seem to care much for their customers. I will never return.

For Christmas my two friends and I were given gift certificates for a spa day at the Rose Spa, but after arriving we were told that the makeup application service was no longer offered in that package so we wouldn’t be receiving that service, but could reschedule it for another day. We explained that we had made dinner reservations and a special evening planned since we were getting our makeup professionally applied, we also explained that two of us lived a few hours away (and one of us had to take off work) and it would be hard to reschedule. We asked if she could at least try to squeeze us in, see if any appts would be willing to reschedule, or check to see if there was anyone they could call in to assist us but she wasn’t willing to even try. She just grinned and kept repeating «sorry but there’s nothing I can do». We understood the mix up but if she would’ve just tried to help us it would’ve made us feel much better. Instead it put a damper on our special day and we then had to rush home to get ready for our evening instead of continue with our day as planned. A few days later I called and explained what happened to the manager/​owner Cassandra and asked if there were any way she could make this up to us, but she wasn’t very helpful either. I asked if she could add a service to the two who lived a few hours away to make it worth their drive and she would only offer a discount for them to purchase. I then asked if she’d at least extend the expiration date and she offered a whopping 30 day extension. After pushing the issue I was able to get her to extend it for 60 days. It cost $ 600.000 for the three packages and she kept acting like she was doing us a favor by allowing us to still get the service that had already been paid for. When I told her that it was a $ 45.00 service that we had already paid for she stated that wasn’t the case because its discounted in the package and also that service isn’t the same as when its purchased alone because when purchased in the package you don’t get the full makeup, «just enough makeup so you don’t look like your not wearing makeup. Wish she would’ve stated that before it was purchased!
Anyway instead of leaving feeling special and relaxed, we left feeling snubbed, frustrated, and taken advantage of.
Very poor customer service.

Booked European facial online for $ 60 listed for 45 minutes. Got exactly 30 minute facial and was told up front they are ‘roughly 30 – 45 minutes.’ Well, then don’t charge me full price if you only do bare minimum which isn’t even written on their services page. Yikes.

This was my first time visiting this spa but not the first time getting a massage. Let me start by saying it was the best massage I’ve probably ever had. The girls working the front were super friendly and the inside of the spa was so pretty. Very welcoming and warm. They brought me to a nice changing area and provided me with a robe, slippers and a locker to keep my belongings in. The girl who gave me my massage was amazing. She used the perfect amount of pressure and spent a good amount of time on problem areas. I will definitely go back.

Beautiful and relaxing! Massagists were very professional and pleasant. The aromatherapy scent in the entire place was enchanting. I will definitely visit Rose Spa when I visit Flint again. It was lovely!

Remember, after 10+ years of living in NYC, I’m a wee bit «particular» about my beauty treatments and grooming… but I give these guys five stars for the following two reasons: a) the environment they have created is visually pleasing, welcoming and comforting… b) the staff backs it all up perfectly.
I found it when I drove in from Austin to visit with my family for a day (that’s a 4 hour drive folks)… OR maybe to get my hair cut by Sissy Lasley who was my favorite stylist in Austin until she moved to Tyler and took up residence at The Rose Spa. I can’t be sure. Maybe it was a little of both. ;)
At any rate, I had trouble finding the exact place so I called for help. The receptionist was chipper and calm and helped me find it (yes I was right there already) easily. Love the space itself; very open and not over or under done and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sissy’s skills. I have wild and unruly curly hair. She cuts it and sudenly it’s less «ut oh» and more «oh wow» than ever. Plus, she’s super fun to talk to so there’s that.
I can hardly believe I will now be driving from Austin to Tyler to get my hair cut but I will! Next time I’m staying for some spa treatments as well — their prices are reasonable and if the staff I already met and the environment are any indication — it will be an awesome experience.
Thank you Rose Spa for bringing a much needed casual-​but-​sophisticated spa option to Tyler!
