Daniel is a true artist. I moved out here from Seattle this year and have spent 9 months looking for someone who could wow me. Upon finishing my hair color and cut I was stunned at how amazing my hair looked! It was perfect and he needed little direction. A few questions and he had the perfect shade of red and killer hair cut complete. I would highly recommend him to anyone! Not only is he talented but, wicked funny to chat with. 9 months of «okay» hair colors are worth finding Daniel who knocked my socks off!

Haven’t had a a hair cut that has been more than a few inches since I’ve been in NOVA. Finally decided to cut most my hair off and from all the wonderful reviews on Unilocal I decided to give Daniel a try! Well, as you can see, he did an AMAZING Job:)) I already had my side cut so we had to work around that, (and make sure I didn’t get a mullet look haha) and he did awesome:) I will absolutely be going back and will be telling my friends and coworkers about him!

I have been growing my hair out for almost a year before I went to Daniel. My hair is super thick, dark, and straight so many people I’ve gone to in the past have struggled with texturizing my hair and blending layers. I decided to make a big change and chop it all off + color. Daniel did an amazing job. He took his time and paid close attention to detail. I told him about the challenges I faced with previous haircuts and he listened. I usually start missing my long hair and regret cutting it after a bit, but it’s been a couple of weeks now and I don’t miss it one bit. His prices are higher than most of my old haircuts, but you certainly get what you pay for and have no regrets.

Daniel is a highly skilled professional. I had not had my hair done in eons, it had no style or shape, dead ends galore and the color needed help. We talked about what I was looking to do, I showed him some pictures and listened to what he recommended. The outcome was beyond my expectations! I had several inches cut off for a long bob style with some layers and balayage higlights. The cut is excellent, much more stylish and something I can manage easily. The color is so pretty, the balayage highlight technique provides a very natural and flattering result. Will return, highly recommend!

Revel stylist Daniel Johnson has been coloring and cutting my hair for four years and I’ve always been 100% in love with my hair after every visit. Daniel cares about his clients and takes the time to talk to you to discuss what you want to do with your hair and what will work and look best with your particular hair type. He’ll make honest suggestions because he has so much experience in his profession that he knows what works and what doesn’t.
I’ve had many different hairstyles over the last four years: short bobs, long bobs, long hair, platinum blonde highlights, beautiful balayage/​ombré, soft blonde babylights… and I’ve loved every one of these looks with Daniel as my stylist. Daniel keeps up with hair color and style trends and I love when he can incorporate what he has learned into my hair.
He is very professional and manages his time very, very well. He is always making sure his clients are comfortable. He is always very focused and will make sure every strand is perfect when you walk out. I don’t even bat an eyelash at the prices because he is truly the best in DC/​NoVA and you won’t get anything better for any less. In addition to his hair services, Daniel has a wide variety of high quality hair products for sale and will recommend something if you’re interested. He is not pushy with products at all, which I’ve experienced in the past at other salons.
I highly recommend Revel to everyone in the DC/​NoVa area! Revel is conveniently located in Tysons Corner off of Leesburg Pike, and also near the new Metro line.

I have a tendency to go way too long between hair cuts and stylings, so my visit to Revel Salon meant I had plenty for Daniel, the stylist, to play with. His small studio salon was an easy five minute walk from the Spring Hill metro in Tysons, which was essential for me since I don’t own a car.
My hair is notoriously difficult and wiry, and I often feel that making it look good is a challenge for most hair-​cutters. We spoke at length before and even during the process about what could be done for me. We chose to undergo a Brazilian Keratin treatment to relax it and let it flow long and smooth, a look I have always envied in others.
The whole process was a breeze; he probably does several of these every week. Daniel applies the keratin, followed by a wash and dry cycle. The blisteringly hot flat iron he wields is rendered harmless by his swift, blurry hand movements. The results took me aback. I loved how my hair cupped my head and tickled my neck. Yes, I think this works for me.
That was a few months ago. I know that I won’t want to let it grow too long for much longer since it all grows out fairly, shall we say, unevenly (thanks, genetics). In any case, I’ve gone back to see Daniel at Revel Salon in the meantime and I plan to go back again soon to see what new look we can do next.

Daniel really is a great artist! He listened, and gave me exactly what I’ve been looking for! So happy I found him!

I decided to venture out of DC to give Daniel at Revel a shot after reading his wonderful reviews. I was hesitant at first because he’s out in Tysons but I took the silver line and made it there in 40 min from Farragut west. This 40 min ride was nothing as my bus ride home from Farragut West to Mt Vernon Convention Center metro can be just as long. It’s about a 5 min walk once you get off metro, very, very easy. No reason to be nervous about the commute, especially for a good stylist!
About Daniel: the 5 star reviews were spot on. He took his time to look at my hair, show me colors, and presented a few options that would work while still keeping my hair healthy. He nailed my color and cut. And, I felt like I was getting very personal, hands on attention (even offering drinks) unlike all the salons in DC that either churn through your service as quickly as possible or put you on a chair and forget about you. Love my color, love the service, I’ll be back!

I am thrilled to have found this gem with a convenient Tysons location. Was referred to him by two friends that found him over a year ago and also LOVE him.
Their hair always looks amazing so i finally went to him. My hair has not looked this great in a long time. He listened to what my thoughts were then added his ideas to come up with a new haircut.
His attention to detail and creativity is unparalleled. He totally understood my hair and what i was looking for. And i have been back several times for haircuts, each time leaving SO happy!
I am NOT a risk taker with my hair and I analyze it all to death before heading to a new stylist. This was a leap of faith (but saw his work on several others)

I have just received an AMAZING cut, color, and highlight from Daniel. I am so grateful that I found this talented artist/​hairstylist in the Tysons area. Even though I have lived in the DC Metro area for 15 years, I have also lived in LA and NY where there are no shortage of gifted stylists. I can honestly say that Daniel could easily hold his own with ALL of my ex-​stylists. I have thick wavy jet black East Indian hair, and was looking to go to an Espresso Brown– after having a horrible experience with another salon in the area, I took a chance with Daniel for correction. That was one year ago! I have a standing appointment with him every 6 weeks, and I have never been disappointed. He told me that it would take time, so that I would not risk the health of my hair. He gave me my first highlights, to blend the bad color job, and little by little we increased the amount of highlights. You can see the results below. I have recommended him to all of my girlfriends in the area. I am very pleased with his skills, and he is a sweet and genuine guy to boot.

Revel hair studio and my hairdresser Daniel is absolutely amazing! He does my color and cut and I love my hair. Naturally I have dark wavy hair but I love being blonde. Daniel did two latest trendy techniques on me: Balayage and dropping the base which made my hair Multi-​dimensional healthy-​looking blonde;) I’m so excited! And he is fast — it didn’t take more than 1.5−2 hours (I have pretty thick hair). He is really professional but really fun at the same time and I love getting my hair done with Him! Thanks Daniel, I love my hair;)

I really wanted to write a great review after reading all the other great ones but unfortunately I was not happy after leaving his shop. My hair was burnt, I felt the heat through the Saran Wrap and my clothes. So that’s how you know it was hot! He was very nice about it and offered to trim my hair, I accepted. In the end he told me he wouldn’t charge me for the the hair coloring (Yea, I wouldn’t have paid that either way) but the cost of a trim was $ 80.00 which I find is ridiculous. I really hoped for better results.

I AM IN LOVE WITH MY HAIR! I went from long dark hair, to a hair cut and two shades lighter then to an ashy blonde! Literally everyone has come up to me telling me how amazing my hair looks, and the pricing is very fair! He can just transform you and make you look fabulous! :)

I did a DRASTIC change with Daniel and I love it. Chopped off over 6 inches, colored, highlighted and a lot of hand painting. It looks awesome.

I get my hair done probably once a year since i am the worst at maintaining. That being said — because i rarely get it done, i am extremely picky and hesitant about who I go to. I actually know a lot of friends/​hair stylists around the area, but really wanted to find someone that I could trust. The last time I got my hair done, i went up to NYC and got bayalage — while i was extremely satisfied with my hair last year, I really was not trying to make the trek up to nyc just to get it done again, so it was time again to search for a hairstylist i could trust!
Lucky me, I saw my friend Monnia D’s review and took a leap of faith. Daniel was able to work around my schedule and I was in the same day to get my hair colored and cut. Mind you, I walked in with «Warmer» (aka ORANGE) tones of color and basically at least 3 inches of completely damaged hair. His private studio is in a compound called «SOLA» so don’t be confused when you drive around looking for Revel!
Daniel listened to what I wanted — get rid of the brassiness and orange, and something more subtle — i wanted to go lighter for the summer, but nothing too drastic. I got exactly that! He «hair melted», «glazed» and «hair painted» me to an ashy blonde melt that i was asking for! He is meticulous in his cut and color and best of all, SPEEDY. i have had multiple salons where I go to that although I get great results, I end up spending at least 5 – 7 hours in. He is a fast worker, but extremely meticulous.
I am so happy I found my hairstylist (in tysons no less!) and he is so passionate about his work and i left a satisfied camper! not only that, he is FUNNY, genuine and a great person to be around! Always a PLUS!

I’ve been looking for the best stylist in the Tyson’s Corner area and I am so happy to have found this place. Daniel immediately picked up when I called the number listed and was able to fit me into his schedule on the same day.
The haircut I received LOOKS GREAT. Daniel is BY FAR the most METICULOUS stylist I have ever had! He took the time to make sure that the bangs, layers and sides were perfect. My hair is also damaged from previous chemical treatments and he was able to remove most of it while keeping my length. I have thick Asian hair that is very heavy and I left the salon with textured hair that felt light as a feather. I’m super happy with the end result and can’t wait to come back to get my highlights for the summer!
FYI — the salon is inside SOLA and is difficult to find because you have to drive to the back of a building. Give yourself some extra time to find it.

I’m embarrassed to say how long it’s been since I got a haircut. Let’s just say it’s a very very long time and my hairstyle errs on Cousin Itt from The Addams Family. Needless to say, it was time for a cut.
The reason I’m so averse to haircuts is that a good hairstylist is extremely hard to find in the DMV area. I’ve had my fair share of very expensive, good cuts (not very cost effective) and cheap, horrible butchered cuts (not cost effective either after you have to go get it fixed by said expensive stylist). I’m so glad I discovered Daniel at REVEL Hair Studio because not only are his cuts top notch but he’ll help you find a style that really works with you and your hair habits.
A few hints to keep in mind:
— REVEL is a small, independent studio so needless to say, call Daniel directly to make an appointment. I typically work insane late hours but Daniel was able to fit me at a time that worked for me. His flexibility and styling ability are the top reasons you should go to REVEL.
— Be open about what you do (or don’t do) with you hair. Not everyone blowdries, flatirons or curls their hair– but Daniel can work with you to figure out what is a great cut for your hair habits. He did an in-​depth consultation of how I style my hair (wash and go!) and we talked about length and what style would look nice when it grows out. He did a very thorough shampoo and talked through what he was doing during the entire process.
— The salon is in the back of the building– look for the Sola Salons sign and find REVEL inside!
Overall, this was hands down the best salon experience you’ll have in the DMV. I didn’t feel like I was just a name on an appointment list and that they had to get me in and out the door quickly. Daniel took his time to make sure I was 100% satisfied with my new ‘do. Highly recommended!

Daniel was my stylist for 3 years before moving to northern Virginia and I sure miss his touch. He has an eye for fashion and always up to date on the trends and fads. I wear my hair short and love changing the color and cuts. He always gave me great suggestions and his honest opinion. He even drove back 3 hours to fix my hair after a horrible haircut at another salon.

Beautiful and Cozy Salon. Daniel is great at what he does. He recommended a great approach to cut and color. Turned out amazing. By far, he is the best stylist I’ve found in NoVa.
He specializes in all the current trend with hair. Ombré, balayage, color melting. He does it all.
Another thing about Daniel, he does not cut corners. He cares 100% about the health /​condition of the hair too. That is a big plus.

If you love amazing color and amazing haircuts there is only one person to see DANIEL!!! Originally went to Daniel by recommendation of my sister, who loves him as well, to fix a horrible color I got from another stylist he brought my hair from trainwreck to gorgeous!!! He always gives great suggestions on which style works best for you and helps you find the best you that you can be when it. comes to your hair!!! If you live anywhere near this salon make an appt and go see him… you won’t be disappointed!!!
