Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner Center

This is apparently the first new hotel to come to Tyson’s in twenty (20) years! Yes, 20 years! It was needed. Well, the hotel is pretty serene and you definitely don’t get woken up at 7:00 am by those blasted housekeepers slamming every door on the floor you’re on.
The rooms are well done and feature the Regency signature motion floor lights underneath each bedside chest. Window coverings are well done and you won’t see a hint of sunlight peeking in (good for people adjusting from jetleg and pre-​adjusting themselves). This Regency, like so many, is connected to the Tysons Corner Center (locally known as Tysons 1) and that only adds to the hotel’s pluses (in my book anyway). A quick walk to the Silver Line’s aptly named Tyson’s Corner station connects you to the rest of the DMV (locally stands for DC, Maryland & Virginia) and DCA. IAD, coming soon.
The only thing anyone could say bad about this hotel is its relationship with Barrel & Bushel. Not only is the food horribly overpriced but the restaurant also lacks proper delivery methods to all the rooms above it and the food isn’t real food. What do I mean? Well, Barrel & Bushel is the type of fifi place that makes food that looks good and sounds good on paper, but when you eat it, it’s just not fulfilling at all. I have noticed that (in typical DC and DC area fashion) people frequent this restaurant and drink heavily. If most of your customers drink heavily, it’s quite likely that your food won’t have to be very fulfilling. Same thing with salads at many other places in America: Drown it in dressing and they won’t taste the not so fresh vegetables!

My fiancé and I stayed here the opening week and enjoyed our 2 day stay. Now married I reserved a room for our 1 year anniversary over a month out. When we arrived, to my disappointment they did not have the regency suite I reserved. No good explanation on way they booked our room. But they downgraded us to the corner room with club access and a discount. My wife didn’t mind, but I just wish they block reserved rooms 24hrs before arrival, just like they require 48 hour cancellation notice before arrival date. We appreciate the front desks effort to ensure our stay is still memorable.

This hotel is amazing! Best hotel I’ve ever stayed in! The room was pristine. It was so nice. The bed was comfortable. The curtains keep all the light out if you need to nap during the day. The entire hotel is nice and the atmosphere is wonderful. Walking out into the plaza by Tysons Corner is very nice. There’s so much to do just in that area alone. There are firepits, bags, fooseball, restaurants/​bars. The parking garage has a floor designated just for the hotel which makes it very easy to park. I would absolutely recommend it and anytime I go back to that area I will only be staying at this hotel. I had an absolutely wonderful experience!

I got this pace for only $ 114.00 Saturday we chucked in service was great. Bell hop was there, hotel is very beautiful. Big screen tv. Bed was to firm for me.

Dinner we order room service. We found that the food was on plates no carry out box for something forgot but it kills the experience.
Morning we got room services I got crab Benedict. Egg was over cook they end up sending me a new one, because the heat in the box make it still cooking.

This hotel is so gorgeous. We’ve been staying at Hyatt hotels on the last couple of staycations and each experience has been amazing. The inside is beautiful, shiny, and modern. Nearby, there are Earls and Barrel & Bushel for late night snacks and drinks. You can’t beat the proximity to the mall and metro. The only downside is that I wish the least expensive room option had a king size bed instead of two queen beds but the queen is plenty big enough for the both of us. The beds have that puffy, cloudy comforters that I absolutely love and the bathroom has an awesome mirror that makes ya look real good. I took advantage of the light airy robes as well. This Hyatt is definitely on my top staycation list of hotels.

We asked for boiled water for the baby. it cost us $ 10… breakfast was ugly … For the money you can find much better hotel than it sheet

Enjoyed our recent overnight stay at this hotel to celebrate my husband and I’s wedding anniversary. Very clean, modern new hotel in great location. Self parking was easy, level 3 of garage E for the shopping mall. The staff congratulated us on our anniversary, had a signed card in our room with complimentary bottle of champagne. The plaza included outdoor patio with kids playground, cornhole, ping pong, fire pits, and convenient walkway to mall with starbucks, Shake Shack, Lord & Taylor, Eddie V’s, Earl’s kitchen, and hotel restaurant Barrel and Bushel. It also was a close walk with sky bridge to metro. The room was a good size with comfortable bed. Only consideration for future stay was no bathtub (large walk in shower with rain faucet), and thin walls can hear conversations from hall and doors closing of neighbors (common in most hotels). We will definitely recommend staying here for friends who want clean hotel in comvienent northern Virginia location.

Today I came to the hotel And I found a problem with my reservation but mr. Mena help me out to solve the problem and he made a new reservation. He is very good guy and supportive. The only think is miss is no complementary water. also they do have a problem with check out time at 1200pm that is to early. I call them one night before they gave me up to 1pm but in the morning they refuse

We stayed here back in September 2015 for three nights while on a family vacation of the East Coast. This hotel was incredible. Between the location, staff, options in the area, proximity to the metro — everything was absolutely perfect about it.
Not sure I will be back to the D.C. area anytime in the near future but if I am and need a place to stay, this will 100% be it with no doubt about it.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency for a weekend in January to attend a wedding that was 30 minutes or so away.
There are tons of things I loved about this hotel…
– Extraordinarily clean & great design in the rooms
– Friendly staff
– Those little lights that turn on when you get out of bed in the middle of the night? I need this at home!
– The shower was amazing
– Location! Super close to the Metro, and is connected to the mall, so there are tons of dining options nearby
– Free wifi that actually worked
– Comfy beds
– Quiet! We didn’t hear anyone above us, next to us, outside the door, nothing. Maybe no one else was there, but it was so peaceful
– Great price. When we stayed, we got a great deal.
– Next door to Shake Shack
The few things I did not like…
– The worlds thinnest, featheriest pillows. I had to call & have like 6 more brought up so I could sleep comfortably. FYI: They have foam pillows if you ask for them
– At one point in the morning, I went to wash my hands, and there was literally no hot water coming out of the faucet. It was so bizarre; the faucet turned on, and nothing came out. The cold side was fine, but it’s like they turned off the hot water? After about 30 minutes it was back & I was able to take a shower, so I didn’t make mention of it.
– Not a ton of late-​night (read: after 10pm) food options. You literally only have the choice of Barrel & Bushel (as far as we could figure out, anyway), which was fine, but it’s a little pricey & there are 0 remotely healthy options on the late night menu.
Overall, I’d definitely stay here again if we find the need!

My credit card has now been mistakenly charged for a 3^rd time in 5 weeks for a single meal that was already fraudulent and resulted in a waitress being fired (the staff’s own words)

I’ve never had, or continue to have, such a terrible experience at a restaurant as I did here…
I facilitated a corporate dinner on December 21, 2015, with myself and another person. Unfortunately, I only checked the line items on the receipt after getting home and noticed that 2 additional items had been placed on the bill (more on the waitress being «let go for her behavior» later…). I had two bills for the night — one for the bar before dinner, and one for dinner itself. More on why two bills mattered later too.
The next morning December 22, 2015, I went in person to the restaurant, showed the hostess the line items for the dinner bill, showed the hostess the name of the waitress that served us the night before, and described how she mistakenly put two extra items on our bill the night before. Since the bill clearly stated dinner was for only 2 people, she admitted it was a mistake given that we had 4 entrees and an appetizer. We actually only had 2 entrees and an appetizer. She asked for a copy of the receipt which I gave to her in good spirits, and said the Manager would call me later that afternoon…
Of course the Manager never called.
The Holidays happened, and I went back to work this week, and saw this morning (January 7^th, 2016) that not only was there no reimbursement, but that they actually billed me again for both the dinner and bar charges the first week of January 2016. What!
This is where things get interesting…
I immediately reported them to our corporate credit card company. Since there was no mistaking they double-​charged down to the exact penny two different bills (bar and dinner) for what was already an incorrect bill that they had never remedied, I went there in person again for a second time.
I spoke to an individual there, showed them the original receipt from Dec-​21 (thank goodness I took a picture of the original receipt that they «accidentally lost» when I gave it to them on Dec-​22^nd), and showed them a copy of my credit card bill. I explained how I had been there on December 22^nd, gave the receipt then, and never heard from the Manager and never received the expected reimbursement for the items placed on my bill which we never ordered or received. I showed the individual how my credit card now had 2 more exact duplicate charges dated Jan-​6 that were exact copies of the bill from Dec-​21^st. The individual finally admitted that the waitress «was let go for her actions…» [whatever that means], and that they recently changed credit processing applications and ran all of the charges from Dec-​21 again on Jan-​6^th. So that’s a double whammy of fraud and incompetence. He really wasn’t that apologetic and blamed the waitress and credit card processing company. Easy for him, but its my company that’s carrying the balance for their mistakes.

*3.5 Stars.* The rooms are very modern, clean, and spacious. I, too, loveee the motion sensor lights built into the nightstands. It really is convenient to have in the middle of the night or early morning. And the shower is immaculate!
I stayed here on a whim after getting stuck in a snow «storm,» so I didn’t have anything packed with me. Unfortunately, this hotel does not have a gift/​sundry shop. It was after 10pm so the mall stores were closed and there was nowhere for me to purchase a toothbrush or contact solution, or even a snack. Driving on the icy roads was not an option. Thankfully, one of the hotel staff was able to provide me a toothbrush and toothpaste. The staff here is very helpful and friendly. But I did find an old container of salad in my fridge — so housekeeping had not done a thorough job.
The Barrel & Bushel restaurant is open until 12am on weeknights (room service until 10pm). There’s also Shake Shack, Seasons 52, Gordon Biersch, La Sandia, and a few other restaurants within walking distance in the mall. But I suggest having snacks and bottles of water if you get hungry or thirsty at awkward hours of the night. $ 3 water bottles are also available in the room.
A weeknight in January cost me $ 299 + tax. Snow day rates are $ 99. This hotel is very nice and comfortable, and being connected to the mall is super convenient. But it won’t have everything you need if you get stranded at night in a snow storm.

Great location in Tysons and nice outdoor area off the lobby with scaking rink, Starbucks, Shake Shake and Eddie V’s just across the way. Hotel is a little odd. You enter from a very unimpressive 1^st floor and then take the elevator to 3 where there is an equally unimpressive lobby with no welcoming staff to speak of. Sort of felt like an apartment building. Rooms are very nice and spacious. Love the night stand motion lights! The bed only had standard size pillows on a king bed though and the room service options left little to be desired… with only options from the one and only restaurant, which is a not very kid friendly craft beer bar. No gift shop or sundry shop. Again felt like an apartment, but overall a nice place but overpriced.

CONS
Expect to never have the staff bring anything you requested or if they do, wait at least an hour.
HOT water stopped working in the sinks.
While it’s free parking on the weekends, because the parking is located in one of Tysons corner garage, it can be a real hassle to get in and out.
Our room wasn’t ready at check in time.

I know. Random. Writing a review on a hotel? But I just had to. This place was friggin awesome. Stayed here for a friend’s wedding and the rooms were just amazing for the price.
PARKING: Free on Fri and Sat for overnight parking. The 3^rd floor of one of the parking structures is designated for Hyatt Hotel patrons. Just follow the signs and use your door card to get in and out. Win.
COMMODITIES: Room is spacious. Very clean and modern, just take a peek at some of pics posted by other Unilocalers. Loved the shower. Great pressure and temp changed instantly. And automated night lights so you don’t stumble around while trying to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night? Genius. I also forgot my phone charger at home. No problem. Called the front desk and they loaned me a multi-​device charger. You can even ask for memory foam pillows, steamers, toiletries, etc. Free wifi also, so you’re all set!
LOCATION: It’s nestled inside the mall, so if you need some retail therapy, enjoy! Shake Shack is also right across the way, past the ice rink. So grab your burger and shake and then you can skate some of those calories off afterwards: P

Love this spot perfect for shop walk around but I love the Bathroom this why I return to this Hyatt when I visit Virginia! High floors for my admiration for high rise:)

I’ve been a Hyatt gold card member since 2012. Meaning, Hyatt House, Hyatt Place, Hyatt Regency are my go to wherever I’m traveling. I’ve had the fortune to stay at this Hyatt Regency for a couple of nights.
As every other reviewer said, the rooms are immaculate and beautiful. As expected because it’s a new hotel.
However, during our stay we experienced an over 6hr power outage at this beautiful hotel. No phone call to let us know they’re working on the issue. Just smug responses from the front desk when we called to get a status on the issue, as if we were the inconvenience to ask when the power would come back. Did I mention the window of 6 hours with absolutely no power in our room. They blamed the power company-​of course! Where are the generators? Where is the courtesy communication to let your customers a status update?!?
This service, considering this situation, WAS PATHETIC!
Will I stay at another Hyatt Regency especially this one? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
If you head down to Exit 50 (Merrifield/​Dunn Loring) literally 3 miles down the road. You will find a Hyatt House (brand new as well), that would provide great customer service during situations like these.

Believe it or not, it’s been 20 years since they built a new hotel in the Tysons Corner area. Frankly, I am a bit reluctant to share that since this new Hyatt is one of the best kept new secrets in NOVA.
There are several huge pluses about staying here.
First off, it’s located right in the mall. The hotel is directly connected to it, making it super easy to go shopping, dining or simply catching a movie at the local AMC theater which is literally a 3 minute walk from the hotel. That in of itself is a great perk. Parking is also free on weekends (it’s $ 14 a night on weeknights). The hotel is close to the highways, which will take you to DC or elsewhere in NOVA/​Maryland rather quickly. It’s also right between Dulles and Reagan National airport, making it a pretty good option for travelers.
The rooms are extremely modern, well-​appointed and clean. There are plenty of electrical outlets (which is now typical for contemporary hotels), the TV’s are big, the AC unit works perfectly and the showers are solid. There’s actually very little to complain about given the current circumstances.
All in all this is one of the best new hotels I’ve had the pleasure of staying in.

Where Regency = Regal
*Note* I received an upgrade, but I didn’t pay attention to what it was.
Rooms:
Upon entering the room you see a beautiful room setup with one king sized bed and a rather nice view (no matter which direction your room is facing). The flat screen television is well sized. The closet contains two robes that you must put on immediately and prance around like the king of the world *cough*.
There were no overhead lights (to my knowledge in the room), except possibly near the window. There were many light switches throughout the room and even though I spent 2 nights there, I was still unable to figure out which switch controlled what.
The bathroom is immaculate. Even the shampoo and conditioner were of good quality. I typically bring my own with me, but on this occasion I gladly used the ones provided by them. The shower is large proving you with the space you want and need. The tilework is smooth and the water runs into the drain with ease and no pooling.
My favorite part of my experience at the Hyatt Regency were the motion sensor lights. I have never seen anything like it in the 15 years I have been going to hotels (that I remember). Have to use the restroom and don’t want to fiddle with the lights? Put your feet and on the ground and a bright light under the nightstand with lead the way. Just make sure you do what you need to do quickly as the light goes out relatively quickly. The only flaw with this is the hypersensitivity on the motion sensors. On the right side it would light up with the smallest movement in the room or even a gust of wind. I had to block the sensor on my final night because it relentlessly turned on disturbing my attempts to sleep.
The desk is rather large and provides plenty of space to take care of all work or hunger based needs.
In the room there is also a small cocktail table and a love seat.
The art in the room is interesting to say the least. You will catch yourself looking at them more than once.
Everything in the bathroom seems to be sponsored by Angelsoft (tissues and toilet paper).
The mini fridge and safe are located in the cabinets under the television.
Sadly, the television refused to work for me for the entirety of the trip. It would struggle to turn on and if it did, it froze within 1 – 2 minutes of being on. Since I was «working» I didn’t mention it to the staff (maybe I should have when I left).
There is a flashlight located in one of the nightstands to be used for emergencies.
Sorry to disappoint, but there is no bible or other religious texts located in the hotel.
Service:
Friendly and courteous. They handed out bottles of bottle to the people waiting to check-​in even though the wait couldn’t have been longer than 5 minutes. The maids were prompt in cleaning the rooms and taking care of all necessities.

Did I mention the motion sensor lights under the nightstands?
The vicinity of the hotel to Tyson Center Mall is convenient. A high end mall for a high end hotel.
The only inconvenience is going up two sets of escalators to arrive at the front desk of the hotel. Thank fully there was a doorman at the entrance to lead people in the right direction. Otherwise I know for certain I’d have gotten lost.
The (side) entrance of the hotel near the restaurant «Barrel & Bushel» is visible, but can be easily missed if you aren’t looking too hard.
Overall: 4.25 Stars
Other than a few non-​important issues the Hyatt Regency is a terrific hotel to stay in and I highly recommend it.
Despite the hotel being new, there is some mild wear and tear here and there.
The beds are comfortable and soft for sleeping and watching TV. Just stack up the pillow and relax.
For corporate visitors and heavy laptop users, there is plenty of desk space provided for working with a nice hub for plugging in your necessities.
The rooms are modern and technologically superior to most hotels I have stayed at in the past.
What sold me on my love for this hotel were the motion sensor lights under the nightstand. I have repeated this multiple times already, but it is simple but ingenious.

I’m not usually a fan of Regencies, but the McLean property is pretty good.
It’s brand new, so everything is super shiny. The beds are quite comfortable, and the rooms are giant. So many chairs! The bathroom is just as big. There is plenty of natural light. The bathroom is really big as well.
The one slightly annoying thing is the lack of room service. You can have food delivered from the restaurant downstairs. The food is decent, but it comes in take away containers.
Nevertheless, this is definitely a great place to stay in McLean.
