Lil Cravin’

Although this place is closed, I was a die-​hard fan of their milk tea. Compared to the more popular chain stores next door to it, this little hole in a corner had the steepest tea-​flavored milk tea I have ever tasted from a chain store. This place’s milk tea actually tasted like tea, with just the right balance of milk and sweetness to it so that the tea’s flavor is distinct, but none of the ingredients overpower each other. By far the best $ 3 milk tea place I have ever been to. Since this place closed, I haven’t found a tea shop that makes their teas as strong or as caffeinated as this place. I find it really disappointing when milk tea is too sweet, too milky, or not tea-​flavored enough.

We used to come here twice a week; but, I’m not very pleased w/​Lil Cravin’. The past 5 times (not kidding) we’ve driven here from San Leandro; they were closed. It has been @ 7 pm, 8 pm, & 9 pm on a Saturday, 6 pm on a Sunday, & 8:45 pm on a Friday. Their posted hours are until 12am on Fri/​Sat & 11 pm on Sun. Yah, right. We get here hours before their posted closing time. It seems as if the guys that work here make their own hours (bad business). This past Friday night, it looked like all the students at Logan HS were hanging out in this plaza’s parking lot; & Lil Cravin’ was closed.

It looks like, this used to be «Quickly» but they probably didn’t want to renew for the franchise or something that they decided to change names. Although, weirdly enough (and I think it’s prone to a potential lawsuit), they still have a quickly poster on the wall AND some of their stuff (like the cups and paper bags) still have Quickly logos on them.
Anyway, I ordered the popcorn chicken and they were really good. Each piece of the chicken had flavor in them showing that the meat was marinaded well, and they were fried well, not greasy.
I got the iced green tea with aloe, and no sugar. I forgot how much they charged for the aloe but the tea itself was only 99 cents.
I will comment that in terms of price points and flavor of what I ordered, they were 4 stars quality. However, dig one star for the SLOWNESS! I waited a good 20 minutes for my order (usually it’s only about 5 or at most 10 minutes at other places). Several customers actually complained about how long it took them to get their orders AND they also screwed up several orders. So, certainly the store has to improve their efficiency!
It will be interesting how they will do and whether they will last, especially since Tapioca express is only 4 to 5 doors down!

Drinks are 50% of here but you get what you pay for. The boba was rubbery and hard and the drink was pretty watery. The egg puff was good. They have wifi which is nice. Note that they get a lot of high school kids, so be prepared for loud teenagers. The girl at the counter seemed sweet.

Delicious drinks for half off. 2 dollars for slushes, milk teas and smoothies. They’re not amazing but for the price, they’re delicious.

I got the red bean smoothie and it was pretty good. The smoothie even had bits and pieces of red bean in it. My sister got Earl Grey Milk Tea and it was super fragrant. I would come back again especially if Tap Ex has a line out the door.

So I actually thought this place was closing down a few months back? I guess not.

Minus lots of stars… the first couple of time I’ve come they’ve taken quite awhile with drinks…
Today was the worse… I ordered one drink no boba… took over 30 minutes to get it. It seemed disorganized and they had a lot of people waiting… maybe they could hire more help, or get more blenders or something. I’m not sure.
My friend’s peach tea with lychee jelly came out extremely quick. it caused a lot of confusion and when she drank it, it was warm and EXTRA EXTRA sweet…
I haven’t tried any food yet despite the great reviews because I fear waiting over an hour plus to get it…

I don’t see why Tap Ex gets a line out the door while this place
a) has drinks are cheaper and taste slightly better
b) has decent boba quality consistently
c) accepts credit card without any extra charge
d) has fast service
e) accepts Five Stars card (Buy 9 and get the 10^th one free)
Only down side I can think of is they can be open one day but closed another. If you plan to make a trip specifically for Lil Cravin’, I’d suggest calling first to see if they’re open.
Bottom line: Overlook the store’s silly name and get your cheap boba fix here.

Even though it’s half off… I still end up paying $ 3 and up for one drink… Their avocado smoothie is a joke. It was hella chunky. Their milk tea is always watered down, and why do I still end up paying $ 4+ for one drink when it’s supposed to be half off!!!
Their mango special is pretty good though. I only go cuz tapex is excessively sweet x_​_​x

All drinks are 50% off, which makes it cheaper compared to TapEx. If you order fruit drinks you just have to wait a couple more minutes because they make it using fresh fruits, unless they are not that busy then you get it sooner.

I usually come here even though TapEx is down the street. Why do I come here… that’s easy! All drinks are 50% off! When you are a Graduate Student who has no income, you gotta look at the cheap side. Haha.
Obviously this place use to be a Quickly franchise, but for 50% off drinks. who cares! Drinks aren’t bad. I mean loaded with some more ice and a lil bit more sugar, it hits the milk tea craving I get.

This place is kind of grimy.

Drinks were 50% off on a Thursday night. I’m not sure if that’s something they do regularly or for certain hours/​days. It definitely used to be a Quickly’s because some of the stuff still has that name on it.
The drinks are TOO sweet. My friend even asked for half the sugar in her drink and she said it was still too sweet. Boba balls were hard in the middle. Taste of my HK green milk tea was actually not bad if they had a lighter hand on the sugar. I have no idea what else they put in here but I kid you not, I drank this at 9pm and stayed up until 5am.
If you have to choose between Tapioca Express and Lil Cravin’ in this plaza, the drinks are not as good here but it’s a lot quieter. It even got to the point where we thought the employees left for the day because they would literally walk out to take a break or do something else.

There is a reason this place is still offering 50%off drinks– the drinks are terrible, low quality, and I don’t see how this place is going to last. Unless they rely on selling slushies…
My friend and I got a thai iced tea and taro milk tea with pudding. Where to start? Both were too sweet for my liking and tasted more like milk than anything. The thai iced tea was incredibly bitter and was probably the worst thai iced tea I have ever had. The taro milk tea was seriously milk in the color purple that was overly sweet. The egg pudding was too solid for my liking. I am use to gooey pudding texture. not something that is hard and chewy… I was actually so put off that after 2 sips I threw it out.
So if you like cheap drinks that taste terrible then yes Lil’ Cravin’ is a gold mine. However, steer clear of the milk teas and egg puddings. OH and they offer common flavors like jasmine milk tea in HOT only… WTH.
How disappointing…

I was desperate for some ramen, since I was hungover that saturday (great hangover cure!) and every other ramen place was close until dinner (anyone heard of ramen as a snack in the middle of the afternoon!?!). Anywho, the service was good, but it took forever to get the ramen. Ok, I can see if the ramen was really good when it came to my table that it took so long, but it was supbar, and the eel on top was mushy.
The thai iced tea I got was ok, I have had better, but at least it was 50% with the promo they were having.
I might go back to try their egg puff or some fried tofu for the kicks of it. But other than that, I’d say for the $ 9 for both things that I got that, save your dollars and go elsewhere. Sorry nice ladies at the counter!

The inside looks like a Quickly’s, which I think might have been before the change? Either way, there are a bunch of tables and chairs to wait and relax. Not as busy as the Tapioca Express a few stores down, which was one of the reasons why I first came here in the first place.
They accept credit cards but I think it’s either a $ 5 or $ 10 minimum. They also give you a card for stamps each time you buy a drink. Haven’t filled it up yet but it’s great that they’re doing it!
Overall it’s good, cheap, and the workers are great!

Well, I don’t want to seem like a blind fool… So I thought I’d update my review.

Now there’s a nice middle aged man, and sometimes either this wife, daughter, or sister is there. Sometimes… there’s a baby: D! Anyways, he’s really nice and so is everyone else who works here.
I come here practically every day when I’m back in the Bay Area because my mom is completely addicted. Their boba is pretty consistent now… There was only one time when I thought my boba was a little too big/​not so chewy. Their drinks can be on the sweeter side at times, but just ask for less sugar if that’s a problem for ya.
Kudos, Lil Cravin’. (I’m still for changing your interior, though.)

Service: Their service has been excellent. Although this place went through some name changes. one thing has always remained the same. The staff and the owner Wei is easy to talk to and very friendly. He wouldn’t mind taking a few minutes to talk to you about anything whether its the football game over the weekend or the movie that just came out.
Food: OMG… the Takoyaki which in my opinion is the best ones i’ve had in the bayarea! I like the thai ice tea as well.
Price: cheap
Overall: Friendly staff, excellent food at a decent price. what more can you ask for?
