Walking down Bergenline Ave you have alot of options when it comes to where to eat. On my first shopping trip around union city we built up quite an appetite. The delicious aromas of the local eateries perfumed the air. With so many options we looked for a place that looked comfortable, had a bar, and had locals. We stopped at Los Tejares when we noticed a menu of Columbian treats. This is now my go to spot for spanish flavors. We’ve been back a handful of times since out first visit and everything we’re tried is delicious. The bowls of soap are made to order and come in a large meal portition. Great for warming your bones on a cold winter day. The paella was cooked in a traditional steel pot and was enough for 4 people. Stuffed with all seafood and meat goodies. We order a whole fried fish just about every time, depending on what is fresh that day. The one server who speaks better English is always very helpful and can assist in the ordering process if you have any questions at all. We speak almost no Spanish so this is plus. Especially since the best spots are always full of locals, which is assurance your going to the right spot. They have a bar and TVs if your looking to watch a game while you eat. The sangria is strong and highly recommend.
