History

Established in 1912.

Max Schoenwalder Sr. founded Max Sr & Paul Schoenwalder in Newark in 1912. In 1919 Max moved his family and business to Union, NJ. At the time Union still had dirt roads, no running water and no street lights. Max Schoenwalder Sr. was a highly visible figure in Union. He served on the township committee for 9 years, served as mayor from 1932 – 1933. After his death in 1968 the company was taken over by one of his sons, Paul Schoenwalder Sr. Paul Sr served in World War 2 and ran the business until he retired in 1982. The business was handed down to the next generation, Paul Schoenwalder Jr. Paul Jr. was involved in the Union Rotary Club, The Township of Union Chamber of Commerce and other local organizations over the years. When Paul Jr. passed away in 2007, His daughter Gayle and son-​in-​law Karl took over the business and kept up the same family tradition and values Max Schoenwalder Sr had started in 1912.

Gayle joined the business in 1982, She presently holds the position of Treasurer. Karl joined the business in 1994. He presently hold the position of President of the corporation. Gayle and Karl bolt hold New Jersey State Master Plumber Licences and HVACR Licences.
