Taqueria Chapala Jalisco

Came for breakfast. Always a great meal. Always. Not fancy, mind you, but the food is what I come for. The waitresses dont constantly bug you but they are appropriately attentive. The coffee is good and its served with ice water without you having to ask. I got the huevos rancheros with a pork chop. The sauce is just hot enough to make your nose run but you dont have a fire in your mouth. The chop isnt the cut you would buy for home, but for the price its great. The potatoes are crispy and the beans are creamy. The breakfast tacos are huge. The juke box is usually playing. Its just a perfect way to start your day.

As of January 2016 I have been to this reasturant twice now. The reasturant is always clean, the staff is friendly and the food is very good. I have tried the Plato Mexicano which comes with 3 cheese enchiladas (red corn tortillas), rice, beans and one hard shell taco. On the second visit I had the Jalisco Burito containing beef (picadillo), beans and rice on the side. Both plates are a TexMex style. The food was made fresh and tasted like you just got it made for you at home. Tortillas are real and fresh. They have a very extensive menue to make everyone happy. Cost is low and very reasonable and if you are Military they give a 10% discount, I believe they may give you the same discount if you are a Police Officer or Firefighter. Dont pass this place up, if you do you will miss out on a real gem of a reasturant.

Food was great! I ordered steak mini tacos which came with a side of charro beans and grilled onions! It was a lot of food for the price. We also got a chicken torta and a side of rice and beans. I enjoyed everything about the food. :) my tummy was very happy.
The service was the worst, our server kept rolling her eyes and was texting the entire time. We didn’t ask for much, just a refill on our drinks (which we asked twice and never got), Also, she messed up on our tab twice, and didn’t bring change from a $ 100, she had to check everything to make sure we actually had given her that amount. I gave our server cash to give as a tip to the cook. She placed it in her pocket, I hope he got it… Everything was a headache. It was pretty slow for a Friday night.
The food was way too good for the service to ruin our evening here. I would like to visit again just not ever dining again. I would have given this hole-​in-​the-​wall 5 stars if it wasn’t for the service. A little sad since I really wanted to like this place.

Edit: came here again and got the flautas special. Amazing! Their rice is so flavorful and the chicken in the flautas is white meat and soft. What a treat.
Yum! Got bacon egg and cheese tacos. Fresh tortillas, melty cheese and thick bacon. The coke comes in a can you pour into a cup which I like. Delicious.

These tacos make me sick like literally messes up my stomach the last two times I’ve been !! Never again

This place is great for breakfast if you are anywhere in this area. I have been here multiple times are always have the same experience. They have some really awesome Micheladas and Mini Taco plates. The only thing that can use improvement is temperature of food. I like my food steaming when it comes out and seems like some items lack that. Otherwise it is a safe bet for food.

CROOKS! — Money stealing CROOKS! I stopped to order something to go but decided to stay. Looking at the menu, I noticed a dish featuring cactus. I like cactus, I asked the waitress if I could order a side of cactus. She said, «sure». I asked the price and she said it would be $ 1.25. Reasonable price, so I ordered it along with two tacos. After enjoying my meal, I go to the cash register. The lady keyed in $ 2.00 for the side order of cactus. I told her the waitress told me it cost $ 125 same as if I had ordered a taco and that the waitress made a mistake. I told her I didn’t order a taco! She continued the cash register transaction and gave me the total. I had to put my hand over my mouth in order to not let the foul language release from the tip of my tongue and decided to vent here instead. Needless to say, I left no tip. I WILL NEVER PATRONIZE THIS PLACE AGAIN! They never get me for another red cent. BEWARE!

Haven’t had a problem with the food. I stopped at the drive through Sunday morning about 6:10 am, and ordered two papa/​huevos tacos. (
+.25 tax). I gave the cashier a $ 5, and she told me «1.75 change», which is correct. However, before she folded the change inside the bill to had it to me, she dropped a quarter into the styro cup marked «tips». I opened the folded bill and found two quarters. I understand mistakes happen, but this was obviously NO mistake. Stealing from customers to pad tips is reprehensible. I handed her the remaining $ 1.50, and told her that she clearly needed it more than I did. Watch your change.

Worst nachos ever, the styrofoam plate was burned from their microwave. There were sorry in every way. Tried a carne asada burrito on a different day when forced to go by friends and it sucked too. Many tried this place when it opened but quickly people left. It is empty now all the time.

I loved the drive in and the taco. It’s hard for me to meet a bacon egg and cheese breakfast taco and this joint dies the taco right :)

Well… i figured this would be great. being that we are in texas… ordered 2 pastor 2 chicken and horchata. Took a while. and the girl didnt tell us our order was ready. it sat on the counter…5 mins past. ’ she came back and served me my tacos… i got back to my truck and opened the tacos ready to munch down… stop! The tacos had flour tortillas… wtf. thats not a traditional. Tacos. didnt even bother to open the other 3 tacos. No limes! Waste of 15 $. I am going back to florida. to get a real tacos! Very disappointed… the best thing was there horchata. Very sad about it.

In the interest of full disclosure I work right next door so I’m there almost daily… and there’s a good reason! The food is excellent, The breakfast tacos are very good. The barbacoa is excellent but occasionally too greasy. Had a torta there today that was near perfect.
The atmosphere is casual and the dining area is always clean.
The best reason to go there is the waitstaff. :-) These ladies are awesome and will make sure you’re well taken care of.
The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of five is the menu. It’s a freaking train wreck and whoever designed it is a booger eating moron.

Ummm first to review? Why y’all?! This place is good and for that reason, usually packed.
In the spirit of generosity (and to satisfy a fierce burrito craving), I decided to get up early and buy the fam some breakfast. True to form, I basically order half the menu just so I can try a bit of everything and satisfy everyone in the family from the vegetarian to the carnivore. I just wanted the bacon and egg burrito … but after eating that, I now want to act like a fat kid and have a bit of each burrito.
The flour tortilla is what makes it for me but the filling inside each one is good too! Adding a bit of the green salsa adds a bit of spice and good flavor but it’s not like you have to add salsa to make it good. They also provide a fire roasted salsa but meh, didn’t care for that one.
Looking forward to going back and ordering from the other half of the menu.
