I wish I could give Ashlar more than 5 stars. They are superb! Mr. Johnson and his team painted our commercial property. It is a 100 year old craftsman home which has been converted into business offices. We wanted to bring out the charm of the home, yet make it bright and attractive for busnesses. When I dropped by to see the finished product all I could say was WOW! The house looked amazing! Jed has a great sense of color and how to highlight the home’s unique charateristics. He is professional, and a pleasure to work with. You can’t go wrong in hiring Ashlar.

Mr Johnson is a very nice person and really gave me the impression I had found the right painter for the job. However, that is where it ends.
I received my estimate in January 2014 for my kitchen, entire downstairs, front door and ceilings/​walls of family room.
Then no matter how many times I called to set up a time for him to paint my home (I was told it would be a 2 – 3 day job), he would either never answer the phone… or he would tell me he would have to look at his calendar and call me back… then a few weeks would go by with NO return phone call.
This went on from February through the end of April of 2014
I consider him unreliable, dishonest and I really felt bent over and not in a good way.
OH…and he never ended up doing the work.
After months of trying to get him to do the work, I was put in a position of having to paint everything myself so I could get my house listed on the market.
Total BS and totally unreliable.

I have just bought my house when i was looking to paintthe interior and so some repairs and at that poin i looked online and got a hold of jed who stopped by and hlgave us a reasonable bid, so me and my wife decided to go with him, the great part starts Ehrn i handed jed the keys and i told him am planning to move in tothe house in 2 weeks in which the first week of it i will be out of town, so i showed him some pictures of how i would like the house to look and the colors that me and my wife like. and when we got back and saw what he did we were surprised and so bappy of the results he finished the job in a timely manner and gave us a pieacr of art, the walls looked new again and he added a touch of art to it, jed is an honest ARTIST

This review is a bit belated but about a year ago we hired Jed to strip wallpaper and paint most of the interior of our house. He’s a great guy — legitimately nice person, honest, and I had no qualms about giving him a key to the house to work while I was at work. Had great suggestions for color choices (I’m not terribly artistic). The work took a tiny bit longer than expected, but it was during the busy season and understandably he had to paint some exteriors on the rare sunny days in this area. Final product is beautiful and I wouldn’t hesitate to hire him again. Pricing was very reasonable and I would strongly recommend him to anyone needing painting done.

I was referred to Jed Johnson by a residential management company in Federal Way. He is the owner of Ashlar Painting. I was in need of someone who could handle a complete interior painting project including updating dated 1970’s «brown doors and trim» throughout the 3 bedroom 2 bath house we have lived in for nearly 20 years. I also needed the project completed «yesterday».
Jed did a remarkable job updating the interior with painting perfection including all the trim. I was unable to check references on such short time notice as I had decided to sell the house and was under a one week deadline to stage the residence for sale. I called Jed and he took the time to assess the project, in fact, prioritized my project and started working within two days! He worked tirelessly through the night for 2 ½ days to complete my house on schedule and with great painting precision and quality.
I could tell in a handshake that Jed possessed that rare quality of trust, honesty, and hard work. I knew I could trust his workmanship.
As the project unfolded, he exceeded all expectations and was such a pleasure to be around. It’s not often in this day and age that you come across someone who is the real thing. With Jed, you can rest assured and be confident that he delivers on what he commits to.
They say in life, you either get what you pay for or you get less. This was a rare occasion where I felt I got more than I paid for and my high expectations were surpassed.

We hired Jed to paint tone on tone stripes up our stairwell wall. I had considered doing it myself, but with a busy 16 month old it would have taken me months, he did an amazing job in a day… and having Jed do it was a great decision. He was easy to communicate with from the start, and did an awesome job. It’s exactly what I envisioned & I love how it came out. I would recommend him for any painting needs!

Ashlar Painting and Building Services just finished painting our 2-​story home in Puyallup. We are extremely pleased with the look of our home, as well as the craftsmanship and detail of the work that Jed Johnson (owner), and his crew performed. The prep work that was done was exceptional.
Jed Johnson is also experienced in construction, as well as working with design builders. His understanding of how a home is constructed makes for a higher caliber of painting professional.
Jed was able to help preserve the exterior wood trim, and added additional weatherproofing to our shutters and gables.
Home has been caulked to the Nth degree. Most downspouts and all the shutters were removed in order to paint the underlying wood trim. Then as the shutters and downspouts were replaced, the screw holes were caulked for further waterproofing. The wood trim was back brushed, which makes for a smoother and thicker coating of paint, which also will last much longer than sprayed on.
Jed and his crew went the extra mile on everything. Jed found several areas where leaks could potentially cause problems and made repairs. For the first time in the history of our home– it is now watertight.
The crew was very professional, courteous and hardworking. The guys worked just as hard and consistently even when Jed was not on-​site.
The estimate for our home was much more reasonable than the bids I had gotten from other contractors. Painting was completed in a timely fashion, when the weather permitted.
I highly recommend Ashlar Painting and Building services. Our home now looks better than it did when it was new.
We are confident that this work will last for quite a few years and the quality of the materials used will help to protect our investment.

Just had (Jed) at Ashlar Painting paint several rooms in our home. We were in the middle of a remodel and were dealing with several different contractors who, were difficult to deal with to say the least. Jed was awsome to deal with, he helped us pick out colors and did a fantastic job. He did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it and for the price he quoted. Thanks Jed!

Ashlar painting (Jed and Laurie) just finished painting our house and it looks AMAZING! VERY reasonable too. He even helped us pick out the color, and it turned it out even better than I had imagined it looking. I live in a culdesac and all of my neighbors are asking for his business cards and he’s even going to paint my mom’s house. Great job and I would/​WILL definitely recommend him!

I have always painted the inside of my house myself. On a whim, I thought that I would get some bids on having someone else paint my kitchen and bathroom if it could be completed before an upcoming party in our home on New Year’s Day. Ashlar Painting is one of the contractors that replied to my online request for bids. Both rooms needed all surfaces except the counters and floors to be painted. He said that he could prep and paint both rooms in two days – a feat that would have taken me two weeks! His price was very reasonable, given that it was one person working for two days. His work was of good quality. It was a minimally invasive experience, as the rooms were only taken apart (so to speak) for three days. I plan to have him paint the living room and dining room in 2012 and probably the deck, too.
