We started taking our Mercedes to Mike at Akbar Auto in 2006. He and his staff have always been professional and have done a great job maintaining our vehicle. When we moved to Covina in 2009, we didn’t want to drive to Upland anymore and found a closer mechanic who would up charge us and always find more and more things «wrong» with our car. We quickly tired of that and went back to Mike. Even though it’s not close, it’s worth taking our car there so that we know it will be serviced and the work will be done correctly. We’ve now been there dozens of times for general service and oil change, but he has also worked on our air conditioning, seat, and battery. If there was a NEGATIVE Star I would have chosen it. MY MOTHER took her BMW 335i to this horrible place, thinking she would be getting exceptional service, but all she got was problems! 1^st, they replace the battery with a incorrect battery which in return created more issues. 2^nd they incorrectly replaced a gasket which still was leaking causing errors and receiving a check engine light. 3^rd, they told us the check engine light was on because the cars injectors were bad and wanted to charge me $ 3400.00 to replace them all. I took my car to a BMW certified technician who told me there is nothing wrong with the injectors, it was the gasket that was leaking that was causing the mechanical issues which they replaced incorrectly. Unfortunately i have no choice but to give ONE star. They don’t even deserve that!

My friend had a radio system installed by some audio store on Holt. (Never doing that again) After that, the car’s lighting system wouldn’t work. He took it back several times to that shop and they told him that they needed a new battery because the battery is old. He changed the battery and nothing changed. He took it to Akbar and he kept the car for a few days. He figured out what happened and had it fixed for less than what the dealer would have charged. He is very happy and Akbar is a great guy. He is an awesome mechanic and he is very honest.

Are you kidding me? You should never take your car here, do you know why? We took my mother-in-law’s car to be fixed, as you would expect. However, by the end of three weeks they had done nothing other than to charge us $ 446 to put in a new battery, which we did not need and to do diagnostics, which told us we didn’t need a new battery. They then said that we needed a new alternator.
We had the car towed to another mechanic who actually fixed the problem for less than $ 150. They showed us that there was nothing wrong with the alternator, just that the geniuses at Akbar had not reconnected all the wires properly.
Do you think the one star reviews are from actual customers and the five-​star reviews are from Mike’s friends?

We were referred to Akbar by a neighbor, and boy are we glad! We had considered getting rid of our X5 because of how costly repairs and maintenance are out of warranty. I have to say at first looks the shop is not as appealing as the dealer, but after walking in it is actually very comfortable and clean. Mike and John talk to you like you’ve been one of their friend’s forever. As a woman i always feel like i will get taken advantage of if i don’t bring my husband, but here i gladly come in alone. Their cost is very reasonable and their work is impeccable. Great, honest guys! We are so happy to have found them! Thank you team Akbar!!!

John and his crew are awesome! A piece of the black cover underneath my car came loose due to damage from the previous owner. I knew I just probably needed to cut it off myself until I felt like fixing it for real. John had a full day of clients, but told me I could come back tomorrow and he would do it for free. Sure enough the next day I was in and out in under 20 minutes in between his paying clients. Not to mention I drive a Toyota which is not a car he typically deals with. Still he refused to refer me and did it himself. I felt respected here which is rare when you’re a female who has minimal knowledge of cars. Everyone who came in seemed to be repeat costumers who are a fan of his work. I will be referring all of my friends with European cars to this location. Thanks again!

Thankfully a friend referred me to these guys, went to the dealership, big mistake. Radiator and brakes for 11 5 series $ 2800, here $ 1300. Now I have money for Vegas!

I have to say these guys are nothing but honest. I am thinking anyone who has reviewed with a bad comment is because they went to the shop on Foothill thinking it was this shop. I in fact a year ago went to the Akbar on Foothill in Upland knowing I have a boss who trusted them solely with her Mercedes. I was so dissappointed when they said I would need a new Transmission. Since we could not afford a new transmission the Mercedes sat in the backyard for a year. Just about a month ago we were told that Akbar on Foothill is no longer the Akbar family and hasn’t been for years now and that the new owners wont change the name. THE AKBAR SHOP ON BENSION IS NOTHING BUT AMAZING AND HONEST. We took the Mercedes there and guess what we did NOT need a new transmission. It was just a part that needed to be replaced. Akbar does not want to rip you off or take your money. They are nothing but honest hard working mechanics. We just took the Mercedes to someone that does AC because we thought our AC had to be charged. Well that business that specializes in AC told us a different story and that we need new parts. Guess what we decided to get a second opinion and take to Akbar and low and behold we did not need anything new. They did what needed to be done and it is working great. My husband has told me that we will never take the Mercedes to anyone else. They have proven twice now that they are definitely the mechanics to go to. Thank you Akbar for such great service.

Mike, Jim & the guys at Akbar auto are top notch! Great service, timing & price! Mike is always courteous & honest. I’ve been a customer with two of my vehicles (CLK & C300). Routine maintenance, a bad vacuum pump, etc. all done in one day!

My mom took her mercedes E class in because the car kept dying on her while driving and wouldn’t start at times. The owner was a nice guy and seemed like he knew what he was talking about. The reason for the 2 star was because he offered to drop me off at my house while he worked on the car. As he was about to drop me off, my moms car wouldn’t start. Right off the bat, he says I need a new ignition sensor and new pair of keys. He said I can only get this done at the dealer and that it would cost me about $ 1600. He was 100% sure that was the issue. I took the car into another «mercedes specialist» to find out that I just needed to replace a few sensors. Saved me over $ 1000 and the car has been running great since.

This shop is great! I get my oil changes here and Mark the owner is very friendly and honest. THIS SHOP IS THE WAY TO GO. I would not go anywhere else. There is no appointment needed. Walks in are welcome.

Came to Akbar after my sister referred me and I’m glad I did! Mike is super nice and they helped out with my high maintenance 528i. Definitely recommend this place!

My car runs wonderfully. Mike was very helpful and truly went out of his way to help me. Love this place and will definitely be taking my 92 Merz back for regular maintenance.

The customer service in this place was great. Jim took great care of my BMW, the prices were very good. I would highly recommend this place (on Benson in Upland). The place is very knowledgeable of Mercedes & BMW. I just moved from the Bay Area and grateful to have found them. If you want great service with knowledge, look no further. Sometime around late-​January 2003, working a bell-​to-​bell as one of the Finance Managers at Riverside Metro Auto Group’s Nissan/​Hyundai/​Subaru, I hit the jackpot when a customer traded-​in a beautiful black on gray 1988 Mercedes-​Benz 300SEL with only 123,000 miles on it. The original owner was a woman in her late 60s who had taken very good care of the vehicle, so I bought it from our used car manager. It needed work. Having never owned a Mercedes before, I knew of a specialty shop in my hometown of Upland where they serviced only M-​B and BMW. The owner was the sweetest, most knowledgable guy I’d ever met when it came to German cars and his son, Mike was super cool. They test drove the vehicle, inspected it and told me everything I needed to know in order to take it cross-​country, from Hollywood, CA to Virginia Beach, Virginia. Motor mounts, valve stem seals, A/​C charge, all new fluids and tail lamps, transmission service and a half dozen other things were finished in just a couple of short days for what STILL, even to this day, seems like highway robbery!!! Something like $ 845 for everything!!!
And here I am, 10+ years later with four other Mercedes vehicles, and there isn’t another German shop around — ANYWHERE — that I’d trust with my vehicles. Period! Nobody else compares!!!

This place is seriously the place to bring your BMW. I’ve been to the BMW dealer and to other shops in the same area. But as other Unilocalers, say: Mike (the owner) is honest and straight forward and does not try to make your wallet empty. For something that would cost about $ 1,500 at the dealer, he fixed it for half. I will definitely bring my car back for more work. For him to have his business around for about 30 years means that he is true to what customer service really is. They’re open from 7:00 — 5:00pm Mon-​Fri. You will not be disappointed. They’re Great!!!

We just moved to Claremont, so I needed a place to service my MB c-​class, didn’t have any local recommendations, so I tried this place based on Unilocal reviews.
Mike was very easy to talk to, and answered all my questions. He didn’t just take care of the service for this visit, but gave an introduction to his shop and explained that he wants to keep customers long-​term by taking care of them properly and giving good service at a fair and honest price. He told me what things need to be done on my c-​class in the near future, and gave an honest timeline on when those items will be necessary.
I will refer my family here to have their Mercedes Benzs service here, also.
