History

Established in 1998.

Located on the campus of San Antonio Community Hospital in the 901 Building since 2005. This is the former practice of Dr. Val Mullinax. As board certified foot and ankle surgeons* we treat everything from ingrown toenails to ankle fractures. We are experts in treating heel pain, bunions, hammertoes, bone spurs, diabetic foot ulcers and infections, traumatic injuries, sports injuries, sprains, fractures, adult and pediatric flatfoot, tendinitis, warts and even toenail fungus.

In 1998 this practice, originally owned by Dr. Val Mullinax, was located at 600 North Mountain Ave. in Upland. In 2005 we moved to the 901 Building. We enjoy a close relationship with San Antonio Community Hospital and the excellent medical staff physicians. Most of our patients come from physician and word of mouth referrals.

A native of Southern California, Carey is the 8th of 10 children, 9 boys and one girl. His father was a Los Angeles County Fireman and his mother an Executive Secretary. The Bledsoe Family is well known throughout So Cal. Carey grew up in Agoura Hills, Wrightwood and Huntington Beach. Premedical education was completed Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, while working as a courier for FEDEX. Medical school: California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco. Following his surgical residency, Dr. Bledsoe purchased the podiatry practice of Dr. Val Mullinax. He and is wife of 22 years, Lisa, have four children, two boys and two girls. Dr Bledsoe loves the ocean and has been a surfer for over 30 years and has completed over 400 scuba dives. He loves to travel and spend time with his family and pets. Since becoming a foot specialist Dr. Bledsoe has examined and treated over 100,000 feet!

I took my dad here several times for nail triming/​inspections. After making an appointment and having to wait an Hour over our appointment every singletime in a very, very Small, Hot, no TV on, Full of people waiting room. We had enough. I started talking to the other people in the waiting room and they said the same thing, there always waiting an hour over. One lady said forget it and left and said she was never coming back. I’m going elsewhere too.

i took my son to Dr. Bledsoe for a paroneal tendon tear. He’s a pole vaulter, and, with surgery, which is what his family care physician told us he would need, he would miss most or all of the track season. Dr. Bledsoe’s staff was helpful and prompt. Dr. Bledsoe was able to prescribe a brace and rigorous physical therapy program that made it possible for him to avoid surgery and strengthen his ankle enough to compensate for the injury, as it healed. He was able to compete at the indoor state finals just 3 months after his injury, and was 100% healed and stronger than before the injury when he competed in his spring track season. He is pain free with no lingering complications from the injury. I am so grateful for Dr. Bledsoe’s. He is knowledgeable and experienced, and was able to give my son a treatment plan that helped him avoid surgery, and achieve his goals! When a surgeon helps a patient avoid surgery, it says a lot about him. He is a Dr. Who really cares about his patients, and their individual needs. Thank you Dr. Bledsoe!

Had some pain in my foot so I came here because it was close. Got into an exam room where it looked like a tornado just hit. Dirty room with foot sanders and toolboxes everywhere. It was an uncomfortable place to be because of the uncleanliness. X-​rays were done and no prognosis. Sent me off with a prescription for painkillers– noproxin and advil. Also billed me for a brace I never wore and said my insurance would pick it up. NOT!!! $ 90 for a brace I never wore. If you have foot or ankle pain just stay off it and take advil. It will be gone within the week and you will save hundreds of dollars!!!

Be prepared to wait hours! It seems they don’t have enough doctors ! There was only one doctor there seeing multiple patients with more patients in the waiting room !! What upset me most was they seemed like my foot problem was not that important! I took a day off work to finally get my discomfort in my foot checked and the front office girl said there was more important patients that needed care first !! Well if I have a appt shouldn’t that matter? I really don’t think a ingrown nail is more important then my chronic foot pain !!

Never met the doctor because I waited in the waiting room for over an hour. While I waited there I heard several conversation the front staff had with patients and insurance companies. The front desk seems to be a little complacent and not proactive. Maybe this is why they also can’t figure out how to properly schedule. I understand that this may have nothing to do with the front staff, it could be that they are told to book appointments in such a way that makes it difficult to accommodate the amount of patients the doctor hopes to see in a day. It’s all about money and we all know insurance companies are making doctors change how they conduct business. It’s funny though, there’s a sign out front that they will charge $ 35 if you miss an appointment, but there’s no compensation to the patient if you wait in the waiting room for over an hour. My time is just as important as the doctor. If you can’t keep on schedule you shouldn’t charge your patients if they can’t make it on time.

Dr Bledsoe is a great doctor; he has saved my foot from amputation several times. He and Dr Bruenig (love him) examine my feet on a routine basis. I trust their recommendations, they really try to help you and consider your situation; it being financial or living needs. I have been seeing him and his staff. for over 7 years. and i highly recommended him and Dr Bruenig. Five stars to Dr B!

This was our first time here. The staff here was great and friendly they helped us out about our insurance. The doctor was also great. He was able to get the four ingrown toe nails out of my sons toes… The office space is small. My son says there was no pain when the doctor took out the nails. The doctor first numbed his toes and removed the nails.

I saw Dr Bledsoe after being referred by my husband. I found him to be very informative, taking a lot of time to explain my options to me and showing me pictures of my problem. No problems with the office staff who were very kind also.
I have continued to go to the office for return visit after MRI, Dr Bledsoe is most informative and takes time and detail to explain. I work in a hospital and you don’t see this like you used to. I would refer with no reservation.
They are consistantly great, doctors and staff.

I had care from Doctor Bledsoe back in 2009. I was outfitted with orthopedic insoles, and they have worked wonders for my feet.
Now, I did have some major issues with his then billing and office staff. At the time, they were rude, charged me more money than my insurance stated I pay, and refused to refund the extra money I paid in good faith.
Dr. Bledsoe called me personally in 2011 to apologize for the actions of his then staff. He has since let go of said personnel. I have a lot of respect for a doctor that has gone way out of his way to make things right.
In any case, I’m still using my insoles and they have been a godsend. I highly recommend Dr. Bledsoe.

I have always received great foot care by Dr. Bledsoe. He has been my Doctor for the past seven years. I am a diabetic so I need a competent foot doctor who can take of my feet. Dr, Bledsoe office staff is very friendly and always greets me with a smile. I would have no problem recommending Dr. Bledsoe to any family member or friend.

My foot hurt for 2 yrs. I tried many inserts spending 100’s of dollars. I had botox and steroids injected. Nothing worked. I tried Dr Bledsoe and found him to be a great Dr and person. He Injected my foot and put me through a program and gave me back my life. I can run, etc now. I can’t recommend this man enough. I think the negative reviews are from the same patient who apparently didn’t want to pay her bill. I wouldn’t listen to them. I HIGHLY recommend this guy.

The only time I ever made an appointment here, the staff didn’t tell me until I showed up that I would be seeing a relief doctor. I don’t remember his name but he was awful. I went in to be fitted for new orthodics and he said I didn’t need them. Also said rolling a ball under my foot would fix my flat feet, which is a lie. He never had me stand up or walk around and only checked my feet while I was seated. I sent a complaint letter and got no response. The office staff misquoted me for the office exam fee and I got a HUGE bill a few weeks later. RIDICULOUS!!!

USED to be a great doctor. I am DONE this this office.
I am done with his rude and incompetent front office staff. They make MEDICAL decisions, lack communication skills, can’t bill or get correct insurance information, LIE, conduct personal phone calls while patients wait. Charts go to storage after two years (my understanding is legally they have to remain on site for 5 years). They Won’t“t retrieve them, so the doctor and the patient have no knowledge of past medical history and dates. If you don’t like their policy they offer to cancel your appt.
When I confronted the doctor about this, he didn’t believe me. After waiting 30 mins to be seen, he wanted to give a referral to another doctor. Was told that in «5 years there has never been a complaint». Everything I had told him was factual, and even had proof by their documentation (of my insurance screw up) that they lied. He didn’t want to hear it. He offered no solution, no apology. Guess he’s ok with his staff driving off patients. So I walked out. Im filing a complaint with the BBB and APA.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE!
PS. as of 6⁄09 I have found out as a result of the way he performed surgery, I kow have arthritis in my foot. Directly caused by his work! Thanks!
