Jim Turner Certified Inspector

We have used Jim twice now, and he has been meticulous and professional each time. Jim takes his time to thoroughly inspect the outside, inside and «guts» of the home. He inspects plumbing and electrical carefully, and is extremely detail oriented. He catches things that we never noticed, and his reports are very professional. We would recommend him to anyone.

We had a negative experience with Jim Turner during the purchase of our home last year, but I held my tongue as I assumed our experience was just a fluke. However, today, as another issue arises, I want to share our experience.
Jim was recommended by our realtor as «the best, most thorough» inspector, however that was not the experience we had. During the process, we lost negotiating leverage because he could not substantiate some of the vague items he listed on his report (e.g., a faucet that he claimed leaked, but couldn’t substantiate what was observed that made it seem leaky, no photos). Then, after we took possession of the home, we noted cracks on walls, interior doors that would not latch (3 out of 5 upstairs doors — a significant quantity), front door with a gap to outside, holes in garage drywall, etc. The items were relatively minor, however we still had to pay professionals to repair them and they should have been caught during an inspection Now, today, as we were proceeding to change out batteries in smoke detectors, we noted that 2 of 3 bedrooms didn’t even have smoke detectors installed! Yet, his report states «detectors installed in bedrooms.» Clearly this was not even checked, or it was a very serious and expensive typo.
In all good conscience, I cannot recommend Jim Turner as a home inspector and would never work with him again.

Just to put it out there, Jim Turner is a professional. His report was very detailed and easy to understand. Most inspectors would end it with a great report but my wife and I had a few questions and emailed Jim. We expected to hear back from him later on in the week but he gave us a call almost immediately after we sent the email.
I cannot say enough about Jim. He’s very informative and detailed.
Would highly recommend if you need your home inspection done.

Jim Turner is an exceptional inspector; his attention to detail and focus, when evaluating the structure of a home, is unparalleled. I was fortunate to find Jim randomly, while searching the internet, I found an article her wrote several years ago, «What to look for in a good home inspector». It was very informative. I called Jim because I had additional questions; he was easy to talk to and answered all of my questions without making me feel intimidated. Jim is very professional and does not miss a thing. He takes his time and will take lots of photographs of the home for his report. My home is 700sq feet and Jim’s inspection report for my home took 2 days. It was detailed, reader friendly and specific. The 80-​page report consisted of color coded pictures of my home, which indicated important area’s in my home that need immediate to less immediate attention. I use mine as a to-​do list.
The greatest thing about Jim is he is truly there for his clients from beginning to end. He is never put off by questions; in fact he welcomes them because he really does have all the answers.
Jim is certified through ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors, Inc.) and was president of NAHI ~ National Association of Home Inspectors, Inc. and CREIA ~ California Real Estate Inspection Association, Inc. I called to verify his credentials and they are all true. Jim is the inspector that all selling real-​estate agents hope you don’t have.
Additionally, even after my inspection Jim continues to answer my questions and offer advice and does so without hesitation. Jim even sent me a You Tube video on tankless water heaters because he felt it was good information. Jim has surpassed everything he wrote in his article. Jim’s work ethic and personal integrity are impeccable. I would recommend Jim to everyone.

DO NOT use this guy!!! He’s costing me hundreds of dollars on an electrical problem associated with my water heater that he failed to recognize during my home inspection a couple months ago. When I called him to tell him what was going on, he in so many words, told me to take a hike and that I didn’t do my «due diligence» as a homeowner because I didn’t ask if there were permits with the water heater install. I mean, who in God’s name pulls permits on a water heater install? He then tells me he counter sues if I decide to go that route. Im in the process of speaking with a real estate attorney who is a friend of mine and have also spoken with two seperate inspectors who seem to think I have a case. Afterall, i paid him $ 400 to find problems exactly like this. Also, the man never stepped foot in my attic or in my crawlspace under the house. He just poked his head in. Who knows what else he missed? The bottom line is, he’s proven he will NOT do the right thing when he makes a mistake, doesnt stand behind his inspections, and now I’m forced to shell out the money until we go to court. Again I repeat, DO NOT USE this guy.

The client was interested in purchasing a new home and would not consider any other inspector. The client asked the real estate agent to contact home inspector Jim Turner, because of his thoroughness, professionalism, and detailed reports. As I went through the inspection with Jim, I found him to be just as his client expected, knowledgeable and expert in his field!
