We were very pleased with Restart Solar from beginning to end. We met with many different solar companies and quickly learned that buying solar can feel similar to buying a car. With Restart Solar, we never felt like we were being manipulated or «sold» on a product. They were extremely knowledgable, upfront and considerate. Throughout the process we were well informed about the next step. The installation process was wonderful and we felt comfortable with the Restart Solar team on our property. Often times workers can disrupt your home and time schedule and keep you in the dark as to the progress of the project. The Restart Solar team was incredibly respectful and informative. It was a pleasure working with them. The most impressive part of their service is their follow through until the project is completely finished. We had a few visits after installation to make sure everything was functioning AND that we understood how it all worked. Another impressive feature is the final packet of information with all of the details from the project. My wife and I bought a house in Venice on Thanksgiving 2013. As we fixed the place up, we were eager to do everything right. One day at the hardware store, I ran into some guys from a solar company. It had never occurred to me, the idea of installing solar panels on my roof; it felt daunting, expensive, far-​fetched. But as I listened to the details about leasing and rebates I became entranced by the idea of saving money and doing something good for the environment.
In the spring of 2014 I was referred to Restart Solar after being told by another company that my roof’s structure would not support a solar system. I sat down with Jon Baston and Kyle Demarinis and we discussed my options. It became clear they could provide me with a solution for my solar needs. I was a little nervous, but they patiently explained the system design and went into great detail about all the financial incentives for going with a leased solar system.
In June of 2014 we had our Sunpower system installed. We’ve been generating power every day since January 2015 and I couldn’t be happier. Not only am I saving money but it feels so great to know we are producing clean electricity and powering our home from the sun!
Jon, Kyle, and the whole Restart team made the process of installing solar extremely easy and simple for me. They did everything from getting the necessary permits to helping me with LADWP and getting the system turned on. Throughout the whole process they were very professional and responsive; I would highly recommend Restart Solar to all my friends and family.

Through some difficult challenges, Restart came through time after time and I now am enjoying a great Solar systemm.

I was very impressed with professionalism of everyone i met starting with Dan Medford to the installers. Installation was very well handled and I was given frequent updates on progress. The layout of the equipment is very well thought out and there were no surprises. now i am waiting to see the savings. go solar.

I chose Restart after interviewing several solar companies. Upon meeting Robbie it was obvious to me he knew what he was doing. Robbie designed an aesthetically pleasing plan that worked for our energy needs, without adding any extra panels on the north side of our roof. Other companies wanted anglers which would look terrible in my opinion and I don’t think that would be safe in Fontana with our high winds. Robbie was always available when I had questions and was never pushy like other company reps. I have to say working with them (consultant team, installers, electrician, and roofers) they are all very professional and I highly recommend them if you are looking for solar.
Time frame for everything as follows:
3÷2÷15 = Approved Restart to install solar with the re-​roof option.
3÷10÷15 = Layout was sent to fire department to approve deign.
4÷16÷15 = Fire approval plans where in their hands and we set all install dates.
5÷8÷15 = Electrician came out and upgraded the panel.
5÷13÷15 = Roofers came out and removed tiles and installed the new roof.
5÷18−19÷15 = 2 day install for all solar equipment. We put it in test mode on the 19^th and were earning power.
5÷20÷15 = Roofers came back to lay tiles around all the panels.
6÷1÷15 = Inspector came checked all and approved for the SCE application process.
6÷19÷15 = SCE sent me an approval packet with tag to run solar system.
7÷1÷15 = Received my owners manual with all the details of our system.
8÷2÷15 = Will be our 1^st payment that’s auto deducted for our system.

When we signed the paper work we decided the finance option was in our best interest. It was all online, painless, and is cheaper than our averaged yearly electric bills. Plus we’ll get a nice tax return. They will deduct automatically each month on the 2^nd starting in August. (SCE avg $ 225 per month /​Finance payment $ 192 per month)
We’ll have an anniversary date each year where we true up with SCE. So far I’ve been billed about $ 1 per month from SCE for taxes. Robbie designed our plan with Sun Power panels that should offset 92% — 95% our our yearly bill so I expect that we’ll have to pay on our anniversary date a couple hundred dollars or so.
Restart matched the price that i was quoted from other electricians to upgrade my panel. Their electrician did a nice job installing the new cabinet, wiring, and labeling everything. The installers made his work look pretty by patching the wall and painting everything to match. That crew worked well together and seemed to enjoy their job. I can see myself hanging with them and having a beer on downtime. They taught me how to monitor our system and answered all my questions. They wrapped everything up early on the 2^nd day and we were earning power.
Had only 1 issue with the monitoring system going down. No biggie as we were still earning power we just didn’t know how much. I called them up after a few days, thinking it would come back up on its own. They had someone out 2 days later that worked for my schedule. It was a simple fix just opening a cabinet in the garage and unplug and replug the monitor system. Had I known that was in there I could have done it but was weary of opening anything. No charge was ever incurred and I learned more about my system. The monitor updated its self and told me all the details of power generated for the 12 days it was down. Very cool in my opinion.
tl;dr = From beginning to end they are professional, informative, responsive, and a good team to work with.

Restart Solar’s installation and customer service was excellent. I chose Restart Solar because of the friendly, non-​pressure sales representatives (Robbie and Andrew). Both were very helpful, responsive and patient. The installation crew (Alex and Andy) were clean and neat. I also appreciated their attention to detail. I very please with my solar purchase and Restart Solar made it very easy.

I wanted to share my review about Restart Solar. I am on a very fixed budget and my electric bills were killing me even though I try to only rarely use my air conditioner (once it hits 90 degrees or higher would I turn it on). But I have a pool and my house is mostly electric (stove, washer and dryer). So for several months I shopped different solar companies and did my homework online about solar panels. I had 3 solar companies come out and give me different quotes. Restart was actually recommended to me by a friend that has had solar for a year and the most she has paid to Edison in 1 year is $ 1.58. Jason from Restart came out and I was very impressed with his knowledge of solar and he was not over the top pushy like the first solar company that came out. He answered my many questions and knew what he was talking about. The price he gave me was great! The first solar company with the pushy salesman came out and gave me a price of $ 11,000 more for a smaller system with 1 less kwh! I couldn’t believe it! I had one more solar company come out just to do a comparison and they were actually $ 2000 less than Restart BUT they use solar panels from out of the country. Restart uses American made panels and that is important to me. Also I asked the other company if something goes wrong with a panel in 10 years who would I call and they said I would have to call the manufacturer– I said «I would have to call Korea?» (that is where they are made). I asked Restart the same question and they said that I would call them directly. So I signed up with Restart in October 2014. The panels were installed and everything was completed in December 2014. They look great on my roof. The guys that came to install them were professional, kind and took the time to clean up everything. I talked with Lynnae many times at the office (I am someone that asks LOTS of questions) and she always took the time to answer all of my questions and help me with anything. The only bad part in all of this is waiting for the okay from Edison to let you «power up» to their system. That took a month. But they finally gave me the okay and I started January 31, 2015 and it is now the end of March and my balance with Edison has remained at 0. Also my friend that recommended them got $ 500 for the recommendation and she was thrilled! I can’t thank everyone at Restart Solar enough– especially Jason, Lynnae and all of the install team! I am proud to be a solar panel home and I feel great that I am going more environmentally green!

RCC/​Restart Solar pricing was excellent compared to two competitors. The detailed information Charlie provided during the quote process was extremely helpful and they were there with us all throughout the process letting us know what to expect. The minor and expected bumps in the road along the way working with HERO and dealing with custom installation were handled well and responsively. Our experience was excellent and we would highly recommend RCC to anyone considering a solar installation.

My Solar experience started by interviewing and receiving four quotes from solar companies/​installers, including Solar City and REC Solar (saw them in the local Costco). Those other companies seemed to tell me anything to get the job and most of them (particularly Solar City) pushed very hard for leasing the system. I wanted to buy (and did) and ultimately ended up on the SunPower website. Through research I determined that the SunPower panels were superior and a local installer was listed as an «Elite» installer with SunPower. I called RCC/​Restart and met with Kyle DeMarinis.
I quickly observed from day one why tRCC/​Restart obtained Elite status with SunPower as I went over their products, services, pricing, and installation. I was particularly impressed with their installation process which professionally insets the panels into the roof making it aesthetically superior (in my opinion) to other installs I have observed. Their pricing was better for the purchase than the other companies I interviewed and they offered and recommended SunPower panels (I choose the all black panels which were slightly more money but worth it). From the minute I made the decision to hire RCC/​Restart, they were amazing. The office staff and Kyle always kept me up to date on the project. They worked with me, listened to me, and never ignored my questions. Lynnae (office staff) was just great and made me feel at ease with her, «no question is a dumb question» advisement.
Solar is a considerable upfront investment and commitment and as most buyers are novices in this field, I could see why it could be a nerve-​racking adventure if you weren’t working with a great company. Each question or request I made was answered with patience and kindness. Once installation started, the crew from Gordon the roofer, as well as all the install guys were phenomenal; they were the utmost professionals as well as prompt and clean. The system has been up and running now for about a month and the performance is exactly what the doctor ordered. We could not be happier with the entire process and I would unconditionally recommend this company as they go above and beyond to please their customer. Thanks to the entire crew for a job well done…

Awesome company!!! We got three estimates for our solar and chose Restart based on price, reputation, and quality of equipment they use. Kyle come out and went over everything with us. The installers did such a great job, it is so clean looking. They kept us posted and communicated with us every step of the way. We always felt like we were in the loop. Lynae in the office is amazing! She was very helpful. Home projects usually end up with some stress for us but this was a breeze. We really appreciate everyone at Restart Solar. Make sure you check out installation when dealing with solar. We see so many houses that have electrical piping running all over the roof, ours has zero! Check them out, you won’t regret it!

We decided to use Resart Solar after obtaining many quotes from other companies. Jason Waters had sold a system to a friend and came highly recommended. From the moment we met I could tell this would be a different experience then the obnoxious sales pitches we endured from some of the other companies. Jason didn’t attempt to sell us a system but instead truly explained how solar works and the best way for us to finance.
We ended up going with Stion panels. We wanted the install to enhance our homes look and the panels were placed in a rectangle with no visible conduit. It looks amazing compared to other installations around the neighborhood. The install was fast, professional, and clean.
We are still waiting for the LADWP to turn on the system but we have no doubts we made the right decision financially and logistically to go with Restart
One last note, I have a friend at work who signed up with a different solar company long before we even met with Restart, he has yet to install. There are always mitigating circumstances and each install is unique, but in discussing with my friend he is amazed at how quickly we installed and frustrated by the lack of movement on his.

My experience with RCC was great from A to Z. I’ve talked to 3 other popular solar comp b4 I picked RCC. RCC’s Janet Ferrari made my decision EZ. Their office staff (Lynnae) was very helpful and prompt. Their installation crew were fantastic! The roofer (Gordon) that RCC recommended to me was great as well. RCC kept me posted thru out the entire process. Most importantly, RCC didn’t push me to the buy or lease option. It was my decision to buy. Other solar comp did try to nudge me toward the lease option.
I would highly recommend RCC to new customers.

Excellent service from the first informational call (I won’t call it a sales call) to project completion. They provided all the information we needed and we never felt pressured to sign up before we were ready. Our home is old many aspects of it are not standard (e.g. no attic), but they found excellent solutions to all issues that arose. They went the extra mile to ensure that the final system looked good and not sloppy or funky (like some you see out there). We are completely satisfied.

I became interested in installing a solar panel system when one of RCC’s competitors told me about how I could have a system installed for free. This led me to talk to three more solar companies, all pushing either an equipment lease or a pay for power approach. When I talked to these companies to try and understand the economics of how their business plan worked, all I received back was smoke and mirrors. It was obvious to me that someone was making a lot of money on these deals, and it’s not the homeowner.
Enter Unilocal who referred me to RCC Solar (now Restart Solar). Jason visited us in our home and explained the economics of purchasing a solar panel system. Finally, someone who was transparent, easy to understand, and not out to make a quick sale. A little more due diligence and a few days later, I was in.
The whole experience with RCC was a model of how contracting should work. Yes, there were two hiccups, but RCC explained them immediately and then handled them quickly, efficiently and at no additional charge.
The system they installed looks just gorgeous. It was not easy for them to sell me on their process of removing my new cement tile roof, laying asphalt shingles under the solar panels, and then putting the cement tiles back on. Now that it’s done, the panels appear to be mounted flush to the tiles instead of on stilts, and I know that I don’t have to worry about the rain leaking through broken or cracked tiles or the wind getting under the panels and blowing them away.
The installation team and their roofing contractor all did excellent work. They were respectful of my property, cleaned up after themselves every day, completed the work when they said they would, and courteously replied to every one of my incessant questions.
The equipment they installed, which started operation on Aug. 8, 2014, is state of the art and sized to generate 98% of my power requirement. My first bill since the net metering began was 40 cents for 10 days, and this was during the hottest days of the summer.
If you plan on installing solar, ownership is the best way to go and these are the guys to get you there.

We worked through our contractor to hire a solar company. He had multiple solar companies provide a bid. RCC was selected due to price and reputation. They were professional and everything was handled promptly. Still evaluating our cost savings on electricity use.

RCC — A LARGE Cut Above the Rest
RCC is truly a solar consulting firm… they also provide installation and access to preferred financing. First off, this is not a «We need you and your wife there tonight to sign a solar lease gimmick». My experience was one of a low pressure training me on the benefits of solar, if any, for my particular situation. It was an entire solution approach from solar to roofing to venting to aesthetics to an overall reduction in energy usage by considering new appliances to pool pumps, whole house fans, windows and etc. Of course RCC does not install windows and other non-​solar items, but they will show you how much solar you really need IF you change nothing and WHEN you make the recommended changes. I learned a great deal from Charlie and have referred over a dozen friends and family to him. I trust RCC completely and recommend them for your total energy solution project.
