History

Established in 2004.

I started making concrete countertops in 2004. A lot has changed in terms of concrete since then, but not my passion. One of the reasons I developed the passion for Uptown Concrete was my view that things, and spaces, that we use should make us feel better by being stimulating, remarkable, and personal. If we buy things that are produced in volume, without attention to details of design, then we have missed this opportunity. I think we need to embrace the skills and pride of artisans that produce exceptional things that are interesting and unique.

Business Owner

My background is in carpentry, both framing and finish. I have worked on many kitchen and bath remodel projects, where I became aware of the need for artisan concrete to design more personal and satisfying spaces. In addition to countless hours of mixing concrete in my studio, I have traveled across the country to workshops and conferences to learn and be inspired by other concrete artisans sharing their craft and knowledge.
