I brought my ’03 jetta here for a transmission swap, I’m very pleased with my entire experience with this shop! All of the guys were very friendly and concerned enough to make sure the job was done to the best of their ability. The owner test drove my car to make sure it was up to par and put it through its paces after the repair had been completed. These guys know their stuff, reasonably priced, and concerned about their customers. I would recommend then to anyone!

The transmission went out on my ’02 Ford Taurus, Jim Dandy transmission rebuilt it and it worked great for about a year. Then it started making horrible noises every time I turned a corner. I was so upset because I was getting ready to go on a family vacation in that car, and my warranty on the transmission had expired. I thought I was going to have to cancel my vacation. I gimped the car back to Jim Dandy transmission knowing that I’d have to cancel my family’s vacation. A couple days went by and I feared the worst. I finally got a call from Roger, the owner, he said he had racked his brain and couldn’t figure out why it was making noises when I turned corners. My stomach fell, I knew it was gonna be expensive. Then he said that he remembered that my particular transmission has a pin in it that stabilized it, or something like that. He put the pin in and the transmission was fine and I could come pick it up. NO CHARGE! I was so happy I could have kissed him. Roger is very knowledgeable when it comes to transmissions. I trusted him to always be honest. I recommend Jim Dandy Transmission to all my family and friends.

Brought a car in and spent almost 2500 bucks for a transmission issue. It had a year warranty. Right before the year was up, it started leaking. Car was brought back and they said they fixed it. Unfortunately, it still had a slow leak and a few months later (once the year warranty was up) it started having problems. Handily for them, they now claim that they don’t have to fix it EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS NEVER FIXED PROPERLY! It will be taken to a different shop tomorrow to get a second opinion and hopefully something from that shop in writing that explains they are liable because they will be taken to small claims court. I have lived in Vacaville my whole life and know a lot of people in town. I do hair in town and have a large family. I will definitely let everyone I know not to use this place in addition to also turning them in to the automotive bureau.

Jim Dandy was the best. I called after we found a puddle under the car. It was still under a warranty from prior work. They picked up the car right away. No delay no questions. After a few days Roger called and said car was fixed. They worked fast and were complete in getting the car back to us fast. Thank you

I went here for some car noises during a busy afternoon last week.
An older gentleman greeted me and was eager to help me. We were driving around the block in all but a few minutes.
From there he gave me a rough diagnosis, told me there wasn’t much wrong with my transmission and then told me some other things to work on in my leisure that would improve vehicle performance.
He even topped off my water and fluids and didn’t ask for anything in return. I still gave him a bit of a tip for lunch, but I really don’t recall the last time I ran into a knowledgeable and honest mechanic.
I almost want something to go wrong just so I can give them business. Not really, but I am a fan and will keep them in mind should anyone ever ask about service.

Great staff and my duster was in and out much faster then I expected, plus it was the best price in town. I would recommend it to anyone. I will trust them with any vehicle

I had taken my car here a while back for a clutch and master cylinder repair, and I swear to you my car has never been worse. they offered to do the same work for less expensive, when after 2 – 3 months, we probably spent about double. I got my car back after 2 weeks, and that same day, it broke down again! the same issue! I had my car towed back, at MY expense, and after (with the warranty) they made me pay for more parts for the car.
Lets hit repeat about 5 more times. Literally. Warranty my ass. i was still spending an insane amount of money for no work. The one thing that really topped it off for me, is after 2 months, i had a road trip for a family event planned, and they couldnt get my car finished in time for me to go. but the day after i was supposed to leave, it was ready.
I really hope nobody ever has to go through this. Worst place ive been.

I had a horrible experience here.
First off, our cruise control worked great before taking it in to Jim Dandy, after getting my car back the cruise control didn’t work anymore, and they said they couldn’t do anything about it.
They took way longer than they said they would, my car was there for 4 weeks.
They raised the price several times with no warning the price could go up, even when they said that the reason it went up was a common thing. If it was common couldn’t you have warned us before hand there was a likeliness the price would go up more than $ 1,000 or our car still wouldn’t work?
They never called us, we always called them asking them for updates,
And if you do go here I suggest you double check the warranty about a million times before you sign it. Our warranty was missing part of the work they had done, and we made them re-​write it to include everything properly.
Part of my wants to believe they are good people just terrible with administration, but I know I was lied to by them and they really need to hire a new administrator asap.

This place is great! I went there to have my transmission fluid changed and they have the best price around by far. Half the price I was quoted by several other places. They had friendly and quirky service and no inkling whatsoever of trying to rip anyone off. I’ll be back!

A good place for replacing your transmission fluid and no leaks.

I took my 2003 Explorer there after a trip to the mountains when the transmission kept shuddering as it tried shift, shaking the whole car. It had actually been doing this for a year occasionally around town, but this was too much. I explained the problem to them, they took all day to examine it and then told me it would cost $ 1600 – 2400 to repair depending on what they found when they tore it apart. I was not surprised because it was a 10 year old car with about 121,000 miles on it.
Well, $ 2387 later, I got the car back and it was still chunking hard into 4^th gear around town. I took it back and they could find nothing. Needless to say I was not happy at this point. So, I took it back again and this time they replaced something called a «solenoid body». I expected another hefty repair bill, but they told me there was no charge even though I am sure that the part cost them money and it took 2 – 3 hours of technician time.
That was more than fair treatment. It would have been nice to have it work the first time, but they did stick to it and solved the problem and did not charge me for the further work, so they honored their word. I think that is important. Results count more than anything.
So, I will be recommending them whenever I get the chance.

Roger not only took care of my husbands truck, but also did a great job fixing my car. They are nice, friendly, have your car finished when they say they will and much cheaper than other places. Thanks Roger for taking such great care of us :)

Jim Dandy Transmission in Vacaville gets an F in my book. They worked on our transmission. Drove it home after they had it for 3 days. Tranny fluid leaked ALL over the street when we got home. They guarantee their work so we called them. They said they didn’t have a tow truck or any way to get the car back to Vacaville. They basically said tough luck. Luckily, we have AAA and got it towed for free. They had the car for 2 days and not once apologized for crappy work or the major inconvenience. Picked up the car, they said they had to replace the gasket. As we got in the car to drive home, spanish radio was on. The whole point of a test drive is to listen for anything out of the ordinary. It is not supposed to be a joy ride. They also left grease and oil from the ROOF of the car (how did that happen?) to the hood and under the hood as well as the front windshield. A spill of something that should have been washed, not rubbed because it smeared all over. So, the car had just been washed, and we got it back way dirtier than when we dropped it off TWICE. I think a call from the owner or manager would have made a big difference but there was no call, no «hey, sorry about your experience.»

On Thursday, April 19, 2012, my wife’s 2000 Dodge Caravan starting smoking under the hold. After a little investigation, I noticed transmission fluid coming out of the dipstick and onto the transmission case, burning on contact.
Took the van into Jim Dandy Transmission the next day, thought it was going to cost a fortune to repair. Long story short, the bill ended up being $ 85 max… including the transmission service! $ 85 bucks! Oh yeah… the problem was taken care of by 4pm! The same day I took it in.
Talk about an honest shop! Would I recommend Tim and the repair shop? You bet, YES… here I am on « Unilocal» telling you about it!

These guys fixed my Eclipse after it started smoking one day. Apparently the transmission line had a hole in it (i’m not very car knowledgeable, so don’t judge me by that). These guys were so nice. They saw to my car the very next day and gave us a call as soon as they knew what was wrong with it. My car was fixed by the end of the day. When I came to pick up my car, they went out of their way to be nice to me. The owner (I assume) showed us the line that was messed up. He let us know that if he can be of assistance to us in the future he will be glad to help (the eclipse was doomed for failure basically). I had let them know I had been burned by a car place in Arkansas that messed up the radiator, and since have had countless issues. The man who checked me out (can’t remember his name) was such a nice guy. He said if I have anything wrong with the car, even if a bug hits my windshield (lol), to bring it back in and they would see to it. They didn’t want me to be burned for life by that one car place.
Anyway point of the story, they are the nicest guys and don’t over charge you. I got a service fee for what I would have gotten back home in Arkansas, which is rare to come across here in the over priced state of california. Good value, timely, awesome people.

I took my car to in for transmission repair. I got a 1993 Buick model rebuilt tranny for over $ 3,200 (overcharged)and it was having major problems! I took it back over 4 times with in a year because it was still slipping, jumping and just not changing gears properly. They just could not get it right of the life of them, after the four time I took it back for a fifth time and they said the warranty was finished and refused to fix it again. So I ended us taking it to a completely different shop and spent $ 880 just to get it running right. Granted their customers service was good, I’m just not sure about the quality of their work. I recommend do not use their services without doing a extensive search for other transmission shops. I later found out that if I had shopped around a little better I could have received a rebuild tranny for about $ 1,000 less that I spent. I wont make that mistake again. I hope this will help someone save some money and time.
