Peterson Grapplers (PG) is a grappling based mixed martial arts (MMA) academy that combines Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and Wrestling, the two most popular and successful forms of grappling in MMA competition. We are headed by Brian Peterson who is a BJJ black belt and the head coach of Valencia High School Wrestling. Coach Brian has over 22 years of grappling experience and has trained with and competed against some of the best grapplers in the world. PG is a first rate facility that caters to those as young as 6 years old on up to any adult with a desire to learn self defense skills. We have a strong competitive youth wrestling and BJJ program that spends many weekends a year competing. Adult «Nogi» BJJ classes are taught morning and night with a big focus on drilling of technique combined with live grappling sparring in every class. PG is also the proud home of Valencia High School Wrestling, the premier wrestling program in the Santa Clarita Valley. Come experience the best training!
History
Established in 2015.
After teaching for over 8 years at Big John McCarthy’s Ultimate Training Academy (BJMUTA) and training multiple champions in MMA, BJJ, and Wrestling, Brian Peterson decided to open his own grappling based MMA academy in Valencia, CA. Opening Day of Peterson Grapplers was on October 1st, 2015 with just a warehouse with an old mat inside. Since its inaugural class, many upgrades have been installed at «PG» and its brand new facility will have a Grand Opening in January of 2016.

In 2001, Brian Peterson became the Kage Kombat featherweight champion (MMA). After extensively competing in wrestling, grappling, and MMA competitions, he moved to Valencia in 2007 to become the head fight team coach for Big John McCarthy’s Ultimate Training Academy (BJMUTA). Over the course of 5 years the fight team coached by Brian compiled a winning record of 111 wins, 29 losses, and 1 draw in MMA competitions. While coaching and managing the amateur and professional fighters at BJMUTA, Brian returned to competition in the sport of grappling. He was awarded his BJJ Black Belt in 2008. He made the Fila Grappling U.S. world teams in 2008 and 2009. He is a 4 time world medalist, placing at the world championships in both gi and nogi divisions both years and winning the world championship gold in 2009 in the gi division. He has trained and cornered UFC and TUF veterans, Karo Parisyan, Jeremy Jackson, Lodune Sincaid, Joseph Henle, and Vinc Pichel. Brian now trains kids and adults at PG!
