This dentist office is staffed with rude and insulting personnel, including Dr. Russell West himself. Lanetta, the dental hygienist who worked on my teeth, was aggressive and unempathetic. She made my mouth bleed multiple times and acted like nothing happened. At one point she hit a part of my gums and blood squirted across my face. Again, no acknowledgement of her mistake let alone a simple apology. I hadn’t been to the dentist in years and was very foreign to the new x-​ray technology which she lacked to explain before she shoved it in my mouth. The entire procedure seemed rushed and reckless. My mouth remained sore for the next two days.
I will not be returning.

Dr West is the best dentist I have ever been to. I have been going to him for 6 years now. His work and results are excellent. The staff is very professional and friendly and they don’t get any better than Sandy, his receptionist. I highly recommend Dr West.

I have had Sjogren’s Syndrome for several years and it has basically destroyed my teeth. Dr. West has done several molar crowns, a four-​tooth bridge and most recently crowned my four front teeth which terrified me. I used to live in Santa Clarita but now drive to Dr. West from Hollywood because I find his work to be impeccable. My bridge fits perfectly and is completely undetectable, and my new front teeth (upper and lower) are gorgeous. He even kept my gap and it looks absolutely natural!
I highly recommend Dr. West, especially for his gentleness and attention to detail – He will do whatever he needs to and take as long as he needs to, to make sure that your crowns, bridges, etc. fit perfectly. The lab he uses takes two weeks, but the teeth they create are works of art. Dr. West is not the chattiest guy in the world, but that is fine with me – I’m not interested in trying to chat with my mouth wide open. I just want the best work and he definitely delivers. The office staff is excellent – professional and kind. Definitely worth the drive!

Expensive!
We have used Dr. West after he took over the practice from Dr. Hartzel. A cleaning runs over $ 100. I paid $ 95 for a cleaning from a master hygienist in West LA. Total for a cleaning and 1 x-​ray here ran $ 155, and that was with a discount they gave us.
Then, my wife needed a crown. I talked to the office and was quoted $ 750 if insurance was maxed out and would not pay. When I told them we had no dental insurance, the price became about $ 1400. I was told that this difference was because the insurance «forced» them to charge lower prices if we had to pay out of pocket. With no insurance, they could charge whatever they wanted.
So I called two other dental offices, one in Valencia and one in Van Nuys where we used to be patients. I was quoted $ 750 for a crown at one and $ 650 for a crown at the other with a $ 50/​year discount plan they offered. Both places used reputable dental labs for the crowns, one of the labs was Burbank Dental Labs.
The $ 650 quote was from our old dentist in Van Nuys who has been in business around 30 years and is a USC Dental School graduate. We were never unhappy here, but the drive was too far.
Well, we will be making that drive. This is a huge price difference. I was really surprised at how expensive everything was. The staff is very nice here and Dr. West seems competent. But if I can get just as good of service elsewhere for less money, I will go there.

I have been a patient for a year now. Found him on recommendation by a friend and I travel quite a distance to get here. The care is professional, accurate and of a very high quality. Excellent supporting staff and the lab he uses is FAR better than my prior Dentists for my crowns. He has save me thousands of dollars over my last Dentist
