The company was started by its founder Richard Herrera in 2008 as a consultative approach to businesses during the economic crisis. Many small company was hit by this crisis and where forced to cut down on business expenses and operating cost to keep their door opened which included internal IT personnel. Richard saw the need of many small business owner while he was still working for a large community bank in New York.

Having extensive IT experience with different network environment which included working with the Bank of New York, and consulted at Columbia University previous to this community bank, allowed hims to bring of these knowledge to the small business sector and advised them on the best solution based on their current and future need.
