I give you 5 stars for being quick and accomodating… Its bad enough when lines are long but as long as they are moving its doable. Sooo Thankyou

I loved the experience at the DMV today. I went in there for the first time all confused and unsure but the people at the DMV were most helpful and guiding. I went through the process of applying for a license very smoothly and left with a learners permit in no time.
Thank you people of the Vallejo DMV.

Best DMV in the bay area. You don’t need an appointment if you get there about 7:45…usually only about 20 people at that time. Staff is actually friendly AND competent. Never waited in line there longer than an hour. Thanks DMV for getting this one right

I don’t understand why the office is always busy! I arrived 15 mins early, my appt was scheduled online for 1040 and there were 2 lines of 40 – 60 people!!! DMV surprised me though, by 1045 I was still bout 15 people away when they started prioritizing the scheduled appts. They called up all the people with 1020 appts, then 1040 appts and so on… I was out of there by 1115! Once your ticket is called its pretty quick… There not so friendly, but they get the job done quick!

We did have an appointment and I wouldn’t go to the DMV any other way. We went to Vallejo because they had an earlier appt. time and we needed to get our business done before the new year. And my mom recommended this office.
Great recommendation. The folks that work here are quick, efficient, courteous, professional and in our case, we had our Yeti Moose Lamb with us and need a little extra consideration. We got it.
DMV suggests you make an appointment. Follow their suggestion to save yourself some time and frustration.

The most unorganized dmv I’ve ever been to. State workers at their best! Lol. I think I’ll go to concord instead!:-)

dmv is not my favorite place to visit but i when to this location and it take less time to do the paperwork than el cerrito

People are nice. It’s pretty quick for a Monday. But why do most of the employees look sloppy, unprofessional? They represent the government. They should dress in at least an interview attire; shirt and pant (men), blouse and pant/​skirt or dress (women).
I’m here now a example one woman looks like she just got up from a nap wearing an oversized Raiders shirt.

In a line witH a group who thought this place picked at 8. But on Wednesdays it opens at 9.

I went on a Tuesday around 11AM. It was still pretty busy, and I was convinced I’d be there all day, but nope! I had to register my car and it took a mere one hour *without* an appointment. The clerks are actually good-​natured and helpful. To be honest, I kept screwing up everything and not a single frustrated huff or stern word was heard. I think we can all appreciate how remarkable it is to not leave the DMV feeling ready to lay in the fetal position and just cry it out. Thanks, Vallejo DMV!

After trying to set up an appointment, (2 weeks out) I had the opportunity to go to my local office.
Wait wasn’t too bad. Only a few minutes to get a number. Be prepared to get laughed at. Woman at the counter laughed because I had to pay a late fee. I swear that people here enjoy tormenting customers. DMV didn’t receive my registration in the mail in time (even though I dropped it off at the USPS during my lunch break on the last day needed for a postmark (infer how well the USPS did its job…)).
Only had to wait about 10 minutes to get to to a window.
Be prepared, bring all documents needed even though correspondence didn’t ask for them. I already included all docs needed in my previous mail. I only had to pay my late fee. At the counter, they asked for the vehicle’s insurance! Good thing I carry the vehicle insurance in my wallet. Good luck to those who don’t have all paperwork even if it wasn’t asked for.
DMV is such a time sink but today it wasn’t too bad.

Going to the DMV is always a chore. The Triple A connection to the DMV was down and I had misplaced my bill so I could not pay on line. It is rumored that this location has the shorts wait time. I could not wait for an appointment, so, I rushed to this small location.
The line was out the door, this wasn’t a surprise; all DMV offices have long lines. As I stood there I shelved my idea for a business to wait in line for people and take care of the mundane chores that people hate to take the time to do. No doubt I would make a fortune!
The two hours wait went by quickly. A real cross section of people find themselves at the DMV, some cuss, some doze and most look at their phones One woman was trying to renew her registration she had 97 parking tickets.
I had no problem with the wait. I don’t blame the people working in the office; they are the victims of the state budget. The clerk who waited on me was very pleasant. The only improvement I could think of for this and other DMV offices would be dress code. Message T-​shirts just don’t look professional.

So, today I had to go to DMV for eye test and renew my CDL, yes first day of the year and first day unregister immigrants can obtain a license. Coldddd as heck, I waited in line. Got inside and was given a number by a woman who must of been a traffic control officer in another life. She was so efficient. Waited about 45 minutes, as they took the appointment ones ahead of me. Finally it’s my turn and I was helped, eye tested, paid my fee and DONE! The three people who served me all had good, pleasant attitudes. I know they had a busy day ahead of them.

Made an appointment online for 8:25 AM Tuesday, July 1. Was seen ahead of time while a long line of suckers waited around the building. Make an appointment people !

I should have held off in giving a 4-​star review until I received my DL. After 2 more visits in the past few months, I still haven’t received my DL. They now want me to return a FOURTH TIME!!! What for??? If they were not able to address the issue in my last three visits, what difference would this fourth visit make? I’ve filled out application forms and had my picture taken 3 times already. They couldn’t even assure me that all will be well after the fourth time. I am so pissed I’m afraid I might end up making a scene on my next visit. I’m a fairly reasonable person, but they’ve already pushed me over the edge. What makes matters worse, nobody is taking responsibility for the delay. GRRRR!!!

This will be short and to the point. I hate life while I am here.
WHY?
1. 2 – 3 hour wait without an appointment
2. Rude as all hell staff (most, not all)
3. Only 3 – 4 windows open to serve the 345,677 people in line
4. Hostel germ-​level bathrooms
5. Parking is a female dog
6. Their pens never work properly

The employees at the Vallejo DMV office are super friendly, professional, and really keep the lines moving. DMV will always be crowded, and never be fun, but at least the employees here make you smile.

DMV isn’t a pleasant place to be. The lights are very dim. Everyone are either feeling anxious or restless. Whether it be a driving test or renewal, the experience is dreadful. The workers feel equally the same so don’t be surprised. They are definitely counting time to clock out and it shows.
This has to be the smallest DMV I’ve seen. However, I was surprised that it wasn’t as busy as other locations. I do give them credit for going beyond their estimated turnaround. I received my DL weeks before their promised date.

So not as crowded as other DMV’s I’ve been to (mainly Vacaville or Fairfield). Relatively friendly staff although I do wish the guy helping me was a little bit more friendlier but hey he was very professional and processed my dl replacement very quickly so definitely not complaining!
I love the fact that I made an online appointment for 940 am, arrived at 932 and was out the door by 950!!! First DMV visit that didn’t take an hour or more. It was also the only DMV in all of East Bay Area that had an open appt within the same week!

I would highly recommend not going here. The customer service is okay, but I’m not sure if its more of the system itself. The Napa office is much nicer and seems to flow better. The appointment system doesn’t seem to function well here either. You are going to have a fair amount of wait time even if you have an appointment. The place appears old and run down. The bathrooms are like bathrooms at random gas stations along I-​5.
I wish the AAA office would offer more DMV services like they do in Nevada. I shouldn’t keep coming back to this, but comparing the system here in California to Las Vegas, Nevada, California seems so archaic.
