In-Shape: Vallejo Sereno Dr

Hated it. I just joined and the staff, not friendly especially the girl at the front desk. If you don’t like your job don’t take it out on others, be nice, even if you don’t want to.

The staff are friendly at first but unless you get in with the «A-​listers» they lose their luster really quickly. Which basically means you have to spend a bunch of money on personal training. Some of the trainers at this location seem ok but others are clearly lacking in professionalism. My biggest complaint about this gym is that they charge the same rates as other big name gyms but the equipment is old, sometimes rusty, and the facilities themselves are never cleaned. There is constantly grime and dust all over the place and it smells like a basement. The rags used for sanitizing equipment are disgusting and sometimes saturated with liquid… one time I took note of a cough drop that sat against the wall of the free weights section for two weeks before it was tossed to a corner. I guess that’s their version of cleaning. Gross.
Finally, the other gym members are extremely unpleasant (again, unless you’re part of the «A-​list») with inconsiderate behaviors ranging from loud cell-​phone talking while pacing the gym to dropping heavy barbells and grunting loudly. Today a nasty little old man who considers himself the mayor of the gym (because he spends more time flitting around from person to person making loud conversations and acting like he’s in a social club than actually working out) was extremely rude and refused to allow me to use a barbell that he was abandoning between sets to go make conversation across the gym for 5 minutes at a time. When I challenged him on this he got up in my face and started calling me a wimp and getting other gym members involved. Today is officially my last time working out there as a result of all this drama. I guess they think this is some kind of old-​school machismo-​centric training facility but that’s not what I was looking for. Perhaps you are, in which case I’d highly recommend this gym. Otherwise, stay away. there are other options in the area although I’m not sure they’re much better. It seems this region has an attitude problem in general. In particular.

I love this gym. I had been to 24 Hour Fitness and Planet Fitness before I enrolled at In-​Shape. In-​Shape is much cleaner and a more comfortable environment. I’ve never seen it too crowded. Plus, they’re open until 11 pm during the week which is great when you have a crazy schedule. I had a couple sessions with the personal trainers and found them very helpful, and all the staff has always been friendly and helpful. In-​Shape is one of the main reasons I was able to reach my fitness goals and I highly recommend In-​Shape to anyone who needs a gym!

Love it. Berto is a true inspiration on my weight loss journey. I try to attend all his classes. Ive seen great success stories from people who worked with him directly or just took his classes. Started weight lifting for definition Zabrina is the best, she gets it! And is very patient for beginners like me. The staff over all is very friendly… So much so it feels like a second home when I’m there.

Friday Morning and its SUPOSE to be open at 4am. Left at 4:30 to go to work and they still weren’t open. !!

Luis is pretty helpful. He never steered me wrong when it came to getting a good deal. Due to me canceling my membership a day later after I applied, he was still indeed good help. I would highly recommend to go to him if you need any assistance.

I wanted to comment further on the gym in general. I’m almost always greeted warmly by the front desk who quickly checks me in. The women’s locker room is clean, and though small, has just about every basic need you might want in a locker room. I’m particularly happy to see a blow dryer in there. Sometimes though, they run out of paper towels and toilet paper and I wish that could be taken care of in a more timely manner.
The floor is pretty well laid out and you can find something that will suit your workout needs. I would love to see the dumbbells organized better as some go missing and I end up playing scavenger hunt trying to find them. It would also be nice to see a few more squat racks as they are very popular. My favorite area is the dedicated back and chest room because the equipment is good. I also enjoy the classes that are offered and love the energy of working out with other like-​minded individuals. This gym has one of the most popular classes, Sudamix, which requires a ticket to get in. Plan ahead if you want to take this class. You won’t be disappointed.

All the staff and new management are friendly here, including the trainers Benn and Kevin and James when he was the manager here. Kids Klub staff is wonderful .
Suggestions: Would like the see the weights more organized. Two more squats racks would be great since it’s always being used.

SUGGESTION:
Would like to see a training zone here in the Vallejo In-​Shape like the one American Canyon has. REALLY LOVE all the mirrors here at the Sereno In-​Shape because I can see my form and what I am doing. I have recommended In-​Shape to my friends and have given them the free passes to try out In-​Shape. One of my friends have already joined. I had a pass at the Lincoln Rd. In-​Shape and liked it there as well.
Friendly. Different ethnicities. Different age groups. I strongly recommend In-​Shape.

I’m semi-​retired and have been coming to this location since the 90s and workout about 3x a week. I like the gym set up and that it accommodates to all ages. There is cardio, group classes, and heavy iron. It’s better than a lot of gyms. EQUIPMENT: I’d like to see a real sturdy incline bench & maybe the back room could be more updated. Bathrooms could use more papertowels. Front Desk: I have to give them from a 0 – 5 a 5. They are friendly and helpful.
The Kids Klub sfaff are a 5. The trainers & staff I know, I’d give them a 5. I don’t know the manager but knew the former Sereno Drive managers James and Reggie. They are very approachable, I’d give them a 5. The layout and diversity of the gym overall I would recommend In-​Shape. Don’t get rid of the iron. Add more.

I’m an army veteran from Florida and moved to Vallejo. It was easy to be a member here at In-​Shape. I came when there was no enrollment and processing fee. I tried out the gym with a free pass. I signed up.
*Pink Room. I use it every time I’m here. I’m more comfortable. The front desk staff Nateisha is friendly, helpful with any questions I’ve had and she knows my name.
*The gym is clean. I like the equipment. The front desk staff is friendly. My personal trainer Benn is professional, motivates and pushes me really hard. I would give all of them a 5!

OH GOSHH! ! It’s fantastic here at In-​Shape Health Club! An awesome gym.
SUDAMIX:I like my classes that Berto teaches! I like his music and the intensity. I’m an older Filipino woman with two adult children. I’m proud that I can keep up with Berto’s class and those younger than me. My health & posture has improved.
EQUIPMENT:I like the elliptical, treadmill & all the other variety of cardio machines.
HOUSEKEEPING:Bathroom is almost always clean.
STAFF: Their customer service. AWESOME! Very helpful.
MANAGERS: Reggie and James when they wwer here at the Sereno Drive, those guys are always smiling. PERSONAL TRAINERS: The In-​Shape trainers Benn and Kevin too they are very helpful, enthusiastic and energetic, and are very knowledgeable including how to use all the machines. I strongly recommend In-​Shape to all my family & friends.

I absolutely love this gym! I especially love the kids club and my kids will say the same! The facility is very clean and I am confident that my children are in good hands. My kids love Maria and so thankful for all her help! Wish I could give 10 stars!

I am so pleased with this gym because the crew is amazing and is always very encouraging, which motivates me to come back 4 times a week. I am a single mother and gym time was not an option before Kids Club. I can be rest assured that my daughter will always be in the care of women with motherly hearts. My daughter wants to come to InShape ALL the time!

I joined this gym back in July 2015 and go there to work out 4 –5 times a week.
The receptionists are always friendly and welcome me by name every time I come in. The gym is clean and well maintained with a wide range of equipment. Reggie, the Fitness Manager, is great. He has a warm and encouraging attitude, and is always up for a laugh. He has helped me to establish fitness goals and work out a plan to achieve those goals.
Overall this gym is great value and the atmosphere is friendly and fun.

This gym is the best one around town.
Equipment: it used to be a golds gym so there equipment is left behind. It’s a mixture of updated and old school things which makes things fun. They’re always maintained and I hardly see things out of service. They have 100lb plates which are amazing! Hopefully soon I can get those bad Boys up.
Staff: staff memebers are super cool here. They actually work out with the members and are not those stuck up juice heads you see at other commercial gyms. Reggie the trainer manager, is a down to earth fella. He says wassup to me all the time. James is also friendly and walked us through signing up. He made it easy and painless. Friendly staff that’s always there to help if you have any question, whether you’re paying for the sessions or not.
Environment: this gym means business. We left our membership at planet fitness cuz I could not get a decent work out in over there. They were to worried about what you are wearing and making sure people don’t have gallons of water bottles around. This gym offers a mixture of strength training for me and the classes and such for my wife. The members here are serious about lifting and don’t mind the banging and dropping of weights. That motivates me to do better. No need to worry about setting off alarms here. Everyone here also knows each other so asking for a spot is quite easy.
Overall: this gym is the best around town. clean and simple, doesn’t get any better. Plus they let you use chalk. Bonus points! If you’re expecting pizza on Mondays, then this gym is not for you! Only thing I wish they did was stay open 24 hours. Maybe in the future In-​shape.

BEST KIDS CLUB EVER! All of the gals are AMAING with my son. He looks forward to going there and it gives me some much needed momME time. I would lose my sanity without this place. Rest of the gym is clean and well maintained.

This review is in regards to the amazing staff !!! Great people makes it for a great environment to have a great workout! I’ve been a member for about 3 weeks now and everyone is so friendly. First there’s James he is an amazing guy who help me sign up, no pressure to join just wanted to make sure that this place would be a good fit for me to reach my health goals. Then there’s Reggie the personal trainer manager!!! One session with Reggie and I was hooked. He asked about my goals and gave me the motivation and knowledge I needed in order to achieve those goals. He’s a great motivator and very knowledgable on workouts/​nutrition. Reggie doesn’t pressure you into getting a trainer, but he did help me realize that with a trainers help I can over come that dreadful plateau phase and finally achieve the goals I’ve set! Overall great place to get a great work out!

The gym is very clean and i’ve never experienced any problems with the equipment. This is one of the few gyms that doesn’t get overly crowded. I’ve worked out with a personal trainer — Benn. His workouts are pretty intense but you do feel and see results! He helped me get in shape and fit! If you’re trying to get fit, I definitely recomend this gym! The membership cost is at a very affordable price and the personal training sessions are very reasonable!

I was pretty hesitant to sign up for a gym membership at first because of a bad experience at my previous one but I finally got the motivation that I needed to get fit and healthy and that is a huge step in the right direction. James and Reggie helped me to set a goal and now I’m determined to reach that goal. They worked with my schedule and my budget and I appreciate you guys for going the extra mile. In Shape is tops in my book. I like the fact that the place is clean and not too crowded even during the busy hours. I’m in for the long haul. I suggest you guys check the place out.

This place is awesome! I recently came here with a friend to check this place out because I was not satisfied with my apartment’s gym & 24 hr. The person that helped me out that day was Nicole Jacildo. She was very professional and did not make it seem like I was just a number to her, she actually cared about my gym goals and helped motivate me during my visit. She made me feel very comfortable there and I never feel comfortable at gyms. Because of Nicole’s great attitude and help, I will be joining the In Shape family very soon.

Nice gym set up, friendly and accommodating staff. Go to this InShape not the one on Lincoln in Vallejo where customer service is horrific.

My wife and I were looking for places to work out here in Vallejo after moved out here, and this was actually the first place we went to. We were members of Planet Fitness in Daly City and you could say that we weren’t too thrilled with the prospect of joining the one here. Anyway, the first thing we noticed was how clean the gym looked. It was sparkling!
After speaking with Mauricio, we got our seven day pass and the only gripe I had was the daycare. I thought it was complimentary during our free pass period but it wasn’t. Other than that I had no issues with the visit.
We just signed up, my wife and I, and also added the daycare option. The staff inside daycare is very cordial and they seem to know how to deal with kids. Having my daughter with me, daycare is very important because I hate to burden my parents with having to watch her after I get home from graveyard shift, so it really helps that a gym has daycare.
All in all, I have to say that though when you sign up it’s only for that location (you can’t go to other In Shape gyms unless you pay extra) that’s ok with us since this gym is close to us. The staff is for the most part not too bad. One thing is that I had to search out cleaning agents to wipe down the machines. Also, this isn’t the fault of the gym but the abs area’s stuff was kind of strewn about. Blame that on the patrons who don’t know how to put things back in their proper place. Pricing is reasonable and there are classes you can attend (Body Pump and Zumba, among others). If you don’t wanna pay, definitely get a seven day pass. So far so good!
