I was so bummed when I realized that half of the key to my car snapped off inside of my car’s ignition! I honestly was dreading having to deal with another one of those shady locksmith companies who decide to charge you double the amount quoted over the phone. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience dealing with Newcomb.
Rob was the name of the individual who provided me with service. He was a really nice guy, and very polite over the phone and in person. Very professional. I was charged about $ 175 for labor and a new key that they cut themselves. To my surprise, they actually included a second key for free. He also went above and beyond his duties and lubricated all of the locks in my car. This guy was amazing.
When I called the Hyundai dealership on Auto Mall Pkwy they quoted me a price of $ 90 JUST FOR THEM TO SUPPLY AND CUT ONE KEY. What a bunch of criminals.
Newcomb & Sons have retained another thankful and dedicated customer. From now on I will only be doing business with them for any locksmith needs.

I have done business with Newcomb and Sons for 30 years. I always get my keys cut there and they make it fast and easy. I had them come to my business to replace a door lock that was broken and it was kind of an emergency because I couldn’t lock the office, so I couldn’t leave till someone came out for the repair.
He came out quick and got it done in no time at all.

We had an emergency around 10 pm at night and was lucky to call the 24 hour hotline at Newcomb and Sons. Rob came to the house within minutes and did a thorough job fixing our lock! His fee was even reasonable to make a housecall after hours. We are a CUSTOMER FOR LIFE! Don’t hesitate to call them with any service needs. Prices aren’t too bad. I had a snapped key that I had joined and copied and it works just fine. Then there was me getting my key cut by my vin for my other car and it was cut much better than the dealership. The staff is professional and friendly for the most part.

After my first unfortunate experience with competing, incompetent, unlicensed criminal element, posing to be professional experience locksmith with fake credentials who damage my locks, I decide to hire true professional with extended reputation and solid credentials.
I wish to have this wisdom to begin with.

Don’t ever make the same mistake by hiring mobile, unlicensed company like Handyman locksmith.
You will be ripped off price wise and substandard questionable quality, done by habitual criminal coming to your home or place of business for only one reason to victimize you as part of his modus operandi.

I noted in another review how I had to give up on my «old» long time local locksmith. I still needed keys made. This particular case I had a complex auto «intelligent key» that was very costly and needed to be carefully cut. I checked with the dealership that would be programming it. They explained that they send the keys out for cutting and I could save a lot of time [and $] if I got it cut myself. Thus, I ended up at Newcomb & Sons.
After a brief wait the man cut my key in very short order and I was good to go… I thought. Dummy me! I didn’t check how well it functioned until I got home. I had more running around to do so I stopped back about an hour later. I could detect a slight difference in the cutting [very slightly undercut] and told him about it. He asked if it was perhaps an aftermarket vs factory key. They do not always fit the cutting machine the same. I was not sure. He carefully trimmed the cutting and walked out with me to try it on my vehicle. STILL it didn’t fit. He ‘worked” the key and hand filed it over a period of at least 10 minutes until it finally worked as well as my remaining original key. [I play with cars a
brother has his own shop in another area. I know how annoying this type work can be — especially when it is because a customer was saving a buck buying parts online. that don’t fit correctly.]
When he finished up he gave me a nod and said ‘OK. Good to go.” I pulled my wallet out and replied «I know I owe you more. You earned it.» He just smiled and shook his head. He didn’t get what his work was worth on this job, but he DID get a new customer who will be only too happy to spread the word about a gem of a business.

Came here today to make some copies of my new house key. I was very surprised at the speed and quality of work! Also it only cost something like $ 7 for three keys. I ended up getting out of here in literally 3 minutes and I gave the guy some extra $ for such prompt service. Will probably be coming back here for more copies because I misplace things a lot…

I’m new to the area and wanted to consolidate the the pile of keys that came with my house and have keys made for two locks that were missing them. Several people recommended Newcomb. I called for an appointment, which was possible the next morning. The service rep was information and friendly. He explained what could and could not be done. He noticed that one of the parts on my garage lock wasn’t working properly, which he fixed. He worked quickly and did everything to my satisfaction.

I brought in my broken commercial front door lock. Over the phone I was told it would be $ 80 to replace and that’s what I was ready to pay. The guy at the counter took a look at my lock and told me I only needed to replace part of it for $ 24. Honesty worth 5 stars.

After my mom figured out the set of house keys she had made at Home Depot wasn’t working (when she ended up locked out of the house), we decided to get keys made at an actual key shop.
I called Newcomb first to make sure the shop was open, and the man who answered the phone was very courteous. I went to the shop, was in and out in 5 minutes, and the younger guy who helped me was friendly and prompt in his work. Good experience, and I would recommend this place based on my experience, their customer service was great.

I grew up in Vallejo and everybody knows Newcomb & Sons because this place has been here forever. I have never had to use them before but when I found myself with my family locked out of our house last week they were the first place I called. Here is were I have to make myself VERY clear. Most of the calls a locksmith gets is when someone is in a bad situation and they NEED someone right away. I work in the automotive/​tire service business and at times I may have very similar customer situations were people are stressed out and need their vehicles repaired ASAP. At times I may have committed myself to other customers vehicles and may not have the availability to jump right onto another car/​truck. BUT I have always taken the minute or two to talk to the customer and give them options after a short parking lot analysis with
almost all cases I work something out and get the opportunity to repair the vehicle within a time frame that is beneficial for both me and the customer. Even though I do not like doing it, I have REFERRED customers to other nearby shops that could handle their problem quicker then I could have, because I value peoples time. I NEVER sit at my desk and just tell the customer «I am to busy, you have to leave your vehicle with me and I will get to it when I can». So when the guy at Newcomb answered the phone and I told him my situation, all I got back from him was HIS problems about how backed up they are and it may be awhile before he could come out if he could come out at all. So I guess my family and I were just supposed to wait until they were ready to help me. Thanks Newcomb & Sons but NO thanks. I got in touch with a mobile locksmith and was back in my house within the hour. Bigger businesses allow smaller ones to slowly come up and take over because the bigger business loses sight of the true goal… customer satisfaction.

These guys are great! I had them re-​key all of the locks my house 3 ½ months ago and one of the locks went bad. Although their normal warranty is only for 30 days Gil came right out the same day I called and didn’t leave until everything was working correctly. And there was no charge!

why did i even try to get a key made at Orchard Supply? of course it didn’t work so i came to newcomb and sons. the first key they made was a little sticky but i brought it back and they fixed it for free (by hand, not by a computer) and it worked great!

After finding my dog and myself locked out of the house at 8 pm on Friday, December 4,2009 without a coat and with temps in the 30’s I called Newcomb & Sons for an after hours rescue. The operator with the dispatch was great and assured me that I would be getting a phone call back within a few minutes. After 20 minutes of sitting in the cold I called again and the same operator told me that he was unable to get in contact with either the on-​call locksmith OR the back-​up and again assured me that I would be receiving a call back as soon as possible. Half an hour after that I had some friends come and pick the dog and I up.
Newcomb & Sons never called me back so they wont be getting any future calls from me or my family.
