CP Transmission and Performance

If you want to spend a lot of money and in the end… have a transmission that belongs in the trash. This is your place!!! 1 rating is too high!

I had transmission work done in early August by CP transmission on my 1978 CJ5 Jeep. The vehicle started popping out of third gear. After looking at it they determined that it would need a rebuild of the transmission and I approved the repairs. The vehicle was finished a few weeks later and after driving it it was very difficult shifting into first gear and my parking brake release had been broken. I called with my issues with the vehicle and they took it back in and they repaired the parking brake release and said it had a bad sequencer on first gear and replaced it. After receiving back it still is not shifting into first gear very well and when I would get on the highway I would feel a very bad vibration. The vibration seemed to be the rear drive shaft being out of phase. I had just had this replaced 18 months ago and had no problems with it. this was taken off when they had to drop the transmission so I called and asked them to look to see if it was reinstalled improperly and was told there was no possibility they reinstalled it wrong and I should call Drive Shafts Unlimited to have it rebalanced. I took it to Drive Shafts Unlimited and it being one their drive shafts they told me it was indeed reinstalled wrong. After the $ 168 repair I called CP back and even after talking with Drive Shafts Unlimited refused to take responsibility.

I have owned my own auto repair shop for 15 years. Chris has rebuilt most our transmissions for us. We have not had any comeback. I have followed Chris and Steve from several shops. I’m pleased that he now has his own business. Top notch shop!

I’ve used CP Transmission to repair brakes, rotors and replace tires and have been satisfied with the service. Then my Chrysler Town and Country started spewing gas out of the tank when I attempted to pump it. On line inquiries indicated the repair might easily be hundreds of dollars.
Several failed home fixes later I gave up and drove the van to Chris’ shop and was completely relieved when he told me I only needed a simple gas cap replacement! The shop is immaculate. The repair was done quickly and effectively the first time. I highly recommend Chris and his professional staff.
