Pretty good dishes at a very reasonable price. I love their eggplant potatoe and naan. I got the combo plus naan and it was good enough for two meals. Will be coming back!

This is a smaller Indian Grocery Store — not as big as say, India Sweets & Spices. But is also one of the only Indian Grocery Stores in this part of the San Fernando Valley. And the fact that they just recently opened a lunch counter makes this place especially good. Located In a small strip mall on the Northeast corner of Whitley and Burbank Blvd., 7 Day Indian Food seems a bit out of place next to the other stores here:(a large Jewish/Russian/Armenian grocery store, and a Kosher bakery being among them). As a food market, 7 Days… crams a darned good selection of imported Indian goods onto its shelves, including dry goods, sacks of rice, jars of Indian pickles, sauces, curries, oils, chutneys, and spices — cans of hard to get Indian vegetables, and legumes — frozen prepared meals, plus frozen hard-to-find Indian vegies, sweets, breads, and paneers — plus and assortment of dried teas — boxes of henna — Indian soaps, hair oils, and toothpaste — incense — snack foods and Indian spicy trail-mixes; to name some basics. There is no fresh produce here. Then in the back there is the lunch counter — which serves the usual items like lamb curry, chicken Tikka Masala, dal, and assorted Indian vegetable curries — but it also serves some unusual dishes for an Indian place, like BEEFCURRY — and Indian Burritos. To drink they offer an assortment of fruit Lassi’s. As an added perk — there is one small but nicely decorated bathroom. And among the usual guest-bathroom items there is also a shelf with some personal things — suggesting that the owner puts in long hours and may need to shave and wash up on the job. This can only mean one thing — it is family run. 7 Days Indian Food takes credit cards but not EBT. And because it is family run, which is a big plus(you will often find the owner’s 4 year old granddaughter with him at the counter) — the son in the back working the lunch counter — and very possibly the wife and grandma at home or in a hidden kitchen, cooking up a storm for the meals ahead.

I stopped by the other day for some Indian groceries(this was not my usual store — Just happened to notice it on my way home). As in many indian grocery stores, there’s a restaurant tucked in the back of the store. Not a family style sit down restaurant… but ok for a quick lunch and such. Excellent snacks(samosas, chicken puffs). Since I was there, I decided to get some take out. It was pretty good. A few weeks later, I had a large to-go order and went with some of the owner’s recommendations… and did not regret it. Everything was excellent. Chicken curry may have been the best I’ve tasted at an Indian restaurant. Will definitely get food from there again.

«If at first you don’t succeed, try again.» Not sure who said or why they said it, but that worked for me with this place. My first couple experiences weren’t quite so good. The chef was gone. Communication mix up. But I hung in there and it is SO worth it. This place is easy to miss. In fact, I missed it for the first year, drove by it 5 days a week. Then their menu caught my eye and since Indian is my favorite type of food, I thought I’d check it out. The price is right — lunch special for $ 6.99. The food is delicious. It’s fast. What more do you need to know? It’s a clean, well-lighted place for dining in or out. Plus there’s a grocery store there too with both Indian and American food/drink items. If you visit, you’ll likely run into me because I’m going to be there A LOT. I’ll be the good looking dude in a sweat shirt and jeans, chowing down on the vegetable korma, thanking the gods for this serendipitous find.

Super nice owner, great food, quick, and the price can’t be beaten for Indian food in the valley. It’s attached to a bigger grocery store so it’s kind of easy to miss.

This place has limited selection in terms of fresh sweets or fresh food. They do however have halal meats to order. If you want goat order in advance! This is a mix of a restaurant and grocery store. Store also doesn’t have any Diwali stuff so make sure if that’s what you’re running in for you go to another place in addition to here. Good for quick last minute grabs.
