Misbeehavin’ Meads

Cute little meadery located just off the square in downtown Valpo. It peaked my interests so I decided to stop it and try a flight of mead. The employees were very nice and chatted with me a bit. They make the mead right downstairs. I enjoyed all of them except the buckwheat which was too biter for my taste. It was basically empty when I went but I hear it gets busy after dinner time. Also, Wednesday’s is board game night, bring a game and hang out with some mead!

Stopped in today to try some meads. It’s a great place with good drinks and atmosphere. You can tell the owners care about interacting and educating their customers. Meads were excellent. Kid friendly to boot!

What a gem in Valpo! They have both hard cider and mead (honey wines). The flights are the way to go if you want to try lots of things. Some of their mead was sweet and some was drier. The buckwheat mead should be drank whilst smoking a cigar in a room of rich mahogany. They had a carbonated orange blossom mead with hops that was killer. The owners are super nice and fun to hang out with. I just wish I lived closer… There’s something for everyone here.

Who knew such a small town could have something with such big and amazing flavors. The lay out is really cool. Its bright, clean and playful. The huge chalkboard menu is a fun add on. The rope beams in the middle are an eye catcher.
They had 5 drinks on when I visited. A cider and four meads. The cider was a little tart and dry, very drinkable. A flight of four mead was the way to start as I got to try everything and then order more of what I loved. The gooseberry foole was amazing. I had two pours. They go down too easily for the abv. The prices were amazing, you can a nice buzz on for a reasonable price.
Service was quick, friendly, and knowledgable. Come the summer this place is going to be packed, visit now and snag a membership otherwise you will not be able to get some of their stuff. I’ll be back.
