I went to Riggs yesterday to purchase a riding mower. After 30 minutes without being helped I went down the street to Burkes and got all the help I needed. Needless to say Riggs lost a 5000 dollar transaction because my intent was to buy there. By the way this was my second trip there and on the first I waited 45 minutes before being helped. There are so many more customer friendly places in NWI.

The guys that work here are not only unprofessional, they are just flat out jerks. I spent over $ 1,000.00 here on brand new Stihl equipment(polesaw & backpack blower) and I asked the salesman if he could throw in a package of the mix oil(that Stihl requires to run) free of charge since I spent so much money. He very rudely replies«I’m not in the business of giving things away free. We don’t make any money on Stihl equipment as it is. «And he refused to give me the oil. I told him OK and this would be the last time I would be doing business with Riggs, and I haven’t been back since. They don’t make any money off Stihl equipment. What a bunch of B.S. They wouldn’t be selling it if they weren’t making money off of it. Go to Gruel Bros. in Crown Point, forget these clowns!

Took my mower in for service. Asked them to check the carb and fuel line, change the oil and replace the blade. 8 days passed and I still hadn’t heard anything from them so I called. They said the carb needed to be replaced. Since they had to order parts it was a while longer. I picked it up today. It was nearly $ 180 and they never did change the oil or the blade. So I was without a mower for two weeks and got it back with only half the work done.

Purchased a new lawn tractor. Waited two weeks for it to be delivered. Got a run around for delivery time. Was told it was being assembled. Used tractor for 45 seconds and started smoking. Called next day they came and picked up(again at their leisure) and told us our grass was exceptionally tall that it was hard on mower and that it was our fault for not having throttle up all the way. We mowed maybe 30 feet. Took 3 days and we had to call and find out what was going on… we were told«the manufacturer installed the belt wrong, at no charge to you!» Really the manufacturer installed it wrong when Riggs said they were assembling. Told them we didn’t want it, wasn’t happy with product nor with customer service. Went to have credit card refunded, now two days later, card still has yet to be credited!
