History

Established in 1978.

My career began shortly after the Air Force in which I obtained a High Security Clearance and then it was off to Oregon for some Criminal Law college classes. Upon my return to California I began an apprenticeship with one of the largest locksmith shops on the west coast. During this time I serviced many of my neighbors for free or at cost until I felt confident to strike out on my own and established After Hours locksmith Services. Soon I teamed up with my uncle from Simi Valley creating a sister company; Ack’s Lock & Key. I trained him and for several years we profited as a team until he retired. In the late 90’s I began outfitting my shop with metal working machinery where I create cover plates, mounting plates, jigs & templates or short runs of custom locks for end users and my associates. Most recently, for the last 9 years, I’ve added door sales and installations to our list of services. We strive to offer One Stop Service — if your project involves security, we probably do it!

When I first started making keys I had no idea what a locksmith was. At 12 years old my mom refused to give me a key to our house. This was not acceptable so I collected odd scraps of metal from construction sites and taught myself how to shape the metal with nothing more than a vise and a hand file and created my first key. While still in high school I earned a degree in Tool & Die making at Pacoima Skill Center before joining the Air Force for 2 years. I married at this time which blessed me with 3 great kids who in turn gave me 5 grand kids… so far. Nothing in life is more important than family so I am really lucky to be in a business with so many great clients who are not only friends but which I regard as extended family! If we haven’t met yet… I look forward to meeting you!
