Balboa RV Park

I’m amazed by the friendliness and above and beyond service we’ve experienced at this park. We spent the day with our very pregnant niece going to doctor appointments before a space opened for us and when we returned our MH was parked in our space with all the hookup work done and the MH leveled. What a nice surprise to come home to after a very long day! Be sure to call ahead for reservations as this exceptional park is very busy!

Customer service in the place is out of the world! …Seriously.
The owner Steve, Ashley & Lisa in the office, Jay & David in park maint… all top notch. You would be pressed to find a friendlier group of folks. They will go out of their way to make sure all is well with your experience in the park, 24×7.
My wife likes to park her RV here when we are visiting our daughter who works in the movie/​tv industry.
The park has a great vibe to it, with folks visiting from Europe as well as all over the US and occasionally Asia.
Very dog friendly.

Balboa RV park is really well run park. For the monthly and nightly tenant.
I had great need for a monthly spot quickly. I was given an application and within day I was in a lovely spot.
The towed me in, hooked me up and made it so easy.
Nice laundry, showers and a gym. There always making improvement and it feels safe.

The whole staff where professional and generous. Great stay as close to Hollywood as you can get. They are the closest private RV park.

A little slice of heaven in the middle of the urban jungle! The spaces are compact, and there is virtually zero open/​green space, but what can you expect in the middle of the city? Also, amazing how quiet this place is at night, being that it is in the city and right next to an airport. The owner is extremely kind and customer service oriented, and the other campers are friendly and courteous. Our family’s preferred spot when in the LA area.

My husband is a travel nurse and we stayed here for three months while he worked at Cedars-​Sinai. The park really is a little oasis in Van Nuys. We felt very safe here, and grateful for all the care and continued upgrades that go into the park. While there is a lot of pavement (Van Nuys in general) there are also some beautiful old trees that provide shade, lovely and varied paintings and murals on the walls, and twinkle lights in the trees that make for nice nighttime strolls around with the dogs. There are some other longer term renters here, and they maintain their lots beautifully as well. The bathrooms are bright and modern and the laundry is clean and affordable. The office staff are very helpful and kind and the owner Steve is at the park daily, always smiling. We felt he was available and that we could have reached him at any time if we had needed to. The added service of having Steve drive your trailer in and park it with the forklift was a bonus and relief for us after a stressful day on the road.

Steve and his staff are SUPER friendly and helpful. The park itself is just okay. It’s camping in a parking lot, for sure. Small spaces and outdated infrastructure. It’s on a busy street, and we had to take a narrow 3-​lane road (that should’ve been 2 lanes but b/​c of traffic, they make it 3) in. In a big rig, it’s challenging. There was a pretty gnarly accident on Balboa Avenue (the street the park fronts) while we were there, which was not surprising. There really isn’t a whole lot to do in Van Nuys, but we did get a great tip from Steve for dinner (great burger at The Outlaw). We did a couple of day trips down to Malibu through Topanga Canyon and to the Reagan Library, but all in all, I’d pass on Van Nuys unless you have to be there for something special. The neighborhood the park is in is pretty sketchy looking, but no incidents while we were there. Like I said, it’s just okay. I don’t know how it gets a 5-​star rating, unless it’s just for Steve and the crew. I agree with all the posters who say he can get you in and out of a tight spot with ease. He’s a magician that way.

We were very happy with this RV park only 10 miles away from Universal Studios, Steve and family took very good care of us we would definitely recommend this park to friends and we would come back again thank you John Armstrong

This place is absolutely enchanted. Green, quiet, and so incredibly friendly.
Where another place would leave a brick wall just a brick wall — Steve hires local painters to create amazing murals. Where another place would leave the bathrooms dingy, or a light-​bulb burned out — Steve and his staff are always on top of every detail.
Only warning: if you’re RV is your home-​away-​from-​home — this place will make you want to stay forever.

2 night minimum on weekends which I could tolerate in a decent space. Want 70 bucks a night for a space with no sewer and were not friendly on the phone. There are nicer parks. We did not complete the reservation due to these circumstances

The most friendly RV park we have ever stayed at!!! Also super clean and quiet. This park has many long term tenants but all are very friendly and there spots are immaculate. Will definitely return and recommend to others.

I stayed here in a trailer for a few months and was very comfortable. The people that live here are great and the staff is very helpful. As a young woman living on here own I felt save. Dog run does leave something to be desired.

I can’t say enough great things about the Balboa RV Park. We’ve been living the RV lifestyle in and around Los Angeles, and beyond, for 4 years now, and visited most of the parks on the map, private and public. The Balboa RV Park stands above them all as our in-​town destination of choice. There’s no better place to call home base for discovering Los Angeles.
Impeccably maintained by the management, with secure locked bathrooms 24 – 7, the best and most affordable laundry facilities we’ve seen, it’s hands down the most hospitable RV stop in the Southland, whether you’re just passing through or have an extended stay in mind for your travel plans. A little over a mile from the «Trans-​Valley Express» LA Metro Orange line, within a half an hour drive from Hollywood, and about 15 miles from Universal City Walk, Universal Studios, Disney Studios, and Warner Brothers, The Balboa RV Park is the most centrally located RV park you’ll find in Los Angeles, and one of the city’s best kept secrets.
The management and residents at the park go out of their way to help you navigate through your day trips and in and around your home away from home during your stay – one of many intangibles that made our stays here so delightful.
From the minute you arrive, you’ll understand what makes this place so special. New friends are made here daily, and we’ve never felt as safe in Los Angeles as we have here. We tell friends and fellow RV’s who haven’t discovered the park yet that «The Boa,» as we have warmly come to name it, is one of Los Angeles’ rare jewels in a city that can sometimes be daunting to travelers.
There’s a large rec room, complete with pool tables, HDTV, excellent internet service, and community library, just one of the amenities that makes this place shine. We’ve taken in many a sporting event and awards show there with fellow travelers.
And if your travel plans need a little polishing up, be sure to let Steve, the owner of the RV park, know your plans, though I’m sure he’ll be your concierge when you arrive, and he’ll make sure you’re prepped for your LA experience, so you’ll be able to take it all in, worry free. He takes great pride in making everyone here feel welcome, and you’ll likely get a tour of the grounds showing off the park’s murals with his personal narration of the rich history of its past and current visitors.
Diving head first into the RV lifestyle, traveling from coast to coast, then back again, work-​camping, and setting up our own business from our mobile office, we’re now seasoned fulltimers, loving the life. We’ve hopped from private parks, to state parks, to BLM land the travel park circuit, especially in southern California, and we have high standards, and the perspective that comes with our experience. As outspoken and honest critics of all of them, we can say can, as in-​town parks go, nothing compares to «The Boa» in terms of the total package.

If you need to be around the LA area, this is definitely the place to be. Trust me, I’ve been to 4 different rv parks around LA and this is the best one out of all of them.
First we stayed at Valencia Travel Village (Read my review on their page), we had an awful experience at that park, definitely would not recommend to anyone. Employees are very very rude and very careless about the well being of their guests. We stayed there for nearly 5 months. We decided to take a little time away, we stayed in a couple of other rv parks around the beach area but we had to come back to something closer to the city because of work.
We found the BALBOA RV PARK and decided to call. We decided to stay here for a week and maybe extend if we think it was a good fit.
Best decision ever! We got here on a Sunday and the owner (Steve) was the one who assisted us. I could not believe how much he cares about the guests at this park! I was amazed by how helpful he was and even more on a Sunday evening… He literally was helping us to park, to set up the hook ups in the RV and making sure we knew everyone around so that we would feel comfortable staying here. Never, in any other park we stayed we had anyone helping us or making sure everything was right with our RV. Outstanding service!
The employees here are very nice, they all really care about the guests and they are always trying to help with whatever we need. Not to mention the place is very safe, Steve (the owner) is always around making sure everything in the park is nice and working for the guests best interest. I have no words to describe how great and friendly the staff is over here. Definitely the best one in LA.

A safe place to stay.
I had a contract in L.A. for a 3 month period and I stayed at this park. I never worried about break-​ins or assaults as those kind of people just didn’t enter the park. And the people who want to stay in the park in their R.V.‘s were pretty well screened. The sites are pretty close together, and most sites only had 6′ of lawn between them. No room for hedges. A lot of people hung tarps or bought screen rooms for additional privacy. I could hear my neighbor snore in the mornings.
There are some nice spots (w/​shade from trees, or end spots w/​only one neighbor or private yards) that were really hard to get. I offered to pay more rent but still couldn’t get one. One resident was selling his trailer with an end spot and private garden and was asking $ 40,000 for the spot alone.
The kids living in the park have nothing to do. There should be a playground or better yet a swimming pool for them. It gets up into the 90’s here in the summertime.
This is the only RV park near downtown L.A. that I know of. L.A. international airport is only about 15 miles away, but allow about 1 hour to make that commute. Any commute to L.A. on a workday is a real time waster: allow at least an hour to make the 15 mile commute. I allowed 2 hours before and after work just to be on-​time sometimes. If early, everyone brought pillows and a blanket and slept. After work, sometimes you’d have to pull off the 405 fwy and sleep for a couple of hours until the traffic lightened up. Plan 20 hours a week for the commute.
The car drivers are very aggressive here. The 405 Fwy is one of the most dangerous in the U.S.

Friends and i stayed here in november. Steve was such a great host. Was happy to help with transport to local attractions and a priceless source of local information! Have to ld all my friends back in Australia about steve and balboa rv park!

On our way home from a great week vacation… broke down for the night. We called Balboa RV Park to see if there were any spots available. Steve was great to find us a spot for a night, We just needed a spot to feel safe since we were not from the area. He was very helpful in getting us into our spot and making sure if we needed anything he would be more than helpfull. After getting us into our spot he made sure to let us know about all the facility had to offer, Thank you, our kid had laundry that needed to be done and it was because of their great laudry facility. We were up and gone before most of the people in the park woke up… but it was great to have a place like this to make us feel at home so far away from home.

Meine Lebensgefährtin und ich sind seit fast einem Jahr mit unserem Wohnmobil unterwegs. Wir sind nun beide aus beruflichen Gründen nach L.A. gezogen, und werden uns hier niederlassen. Erstmal bleiben wir in unserem Wohnmobil, da es billiger ist, und wir noch nicht genau wissen in welcher Gegend wir wohnen wollen.
