I had etsy bake a cake for my son’s first birthday. She did a phenomenal job recreating a customized birthday cake to the last detail. Thank you!
So disappointed to hear that the place is no longer in business. I think that finding a good pastry chef is hard to find and certainly Etsy has this talent.
Etsy, if you’re out there, let us know your whereabouts as I’m sure there are those of us who would be delighted to do business with you again.

I had the pleasure of tasting one of their brownies. I thought it was yummy, even at about $ 5 a brownie… but then, the next day, still craving brownies, I bought a box of Ghiradelli Triple Chocolate Brownies at Smart and Final… $ 3… And they were the exact same brownie…, I swear, I have a good palette when it comes to brownies … Save yourself a ton of money and buy the brownies from a box…

I stumbled upon Crumb Fairy Bakery through groupon. It’s a small bakery located in a business industry. I purchased a cake for myself for my Birthday, I ordered the oreo cake and also took home a few pastries for myself a brownie and a few other things. The bakery is a cute shop and it would have been nice if they had more small cupcakes and other pastries to choose from, they were limited. The brownie was delicious and I definitely would come back for that. My cake was very nice, decorated the way I wanted. The cake itself was okay, I love oreo cake who doesn’t but the cake was average I didn’t really care for the taste that much, my other guests didn’t help themselves to seconds and I had more than half left which I just gave to my neighbors which they hopefully ate.
All in all I wasn’t that impressed with their oreo cake but I did enjoy their pastries.

My brother and his wife ordered their wedding cake from here. On the day of the wedding, we arrived at the reception spot and the cake had not yet arrived! I told my now sister-​in-​law that maybe they were just late, but as soon as I got a hold of their number, I began calling them non-​stop! I was the maid of honor so it was my job to help with whatever and a cake not arriving before the guests or hell before the bridal party was UNACCEPTABLE! I left them several voicemails and my sisters began calling them too! No one answered! Unbelievable! You’d think that they would have provided a cell phone number or a number that someone would pick up in case of emergencies. After all, there was a wedding cake that should have been delivered! Anyway, the bride was crying and it took a couple of tequila shots to calm her down. I continued calling this stupid bakery, but nothing. The next day, again I called and no one returned my call. I get that I wasn’t the client, but at least return the client’s call! Well, they didn’t do that either. So no cake at the wedding. The bride’s uncle was able to make some sort of deal with the restaurant so guests were able to have cake. Although the restaurant did this, it did not make up for a missing wedding cake!
Three days later the lady finally emailed my sister-​in-​law. Wow, took that long to realize what a mess she created? I get that personal things happen in your life, BUT YOU ARE RUNNING A BUSINESS HERE!!! And people are depending on you!!! These were her exact words in her email: «I COMPLETELY forgot about your cake for Saturday as it was our only event that weekend.» Hmmm, your only event for that day and you forget? Wow. My sister-​in-​law was much more sympathetic than I. I honestly didn’t care what had happened. If she couldn’t handle her business at that time, then she should have assigned someone to cover for her. That’s what businesses do, right? And to not get in touch with her until three days later??? Hell yeah, you should be embarrassed and ashamed that you ruined that part of the wedding!
Our family and the other family continued to support and lift the bride’s spirits up so in the end, we had a really nice time, but the missing cake was and will not be forgotten thanks to this horrible place.
This place is completely unprofessional and incompetent. Don’t trust them with your wedding cake or heck, with anything! You get married once and if they screw it up, it’s not like you can have a do-​over! They can try to make it up to you, but honestly, a refund or free cakes don’t make up for their lack of professionalism and forgetfulness.
I would never wish a nightmare like this on any bride. So think carefully about choosing this place.

Best tip-​avoid this place at all costs. Do not be deceived by the high stars it has received. terrible cake, terrible customer service, terrible bakery. Make your own cake from a box, I guarantee it will be better! Don’t disregard negative comments you see, they all have a similar experience.

I’m going to make this short, considering the experience I had with this bakery was not a pleasant one… Cake did not taste as desired order, uneven baking on the cake, and worst of all very unfriendly and unprofessional customer service!

We first learned about Crumb Fairy’s yummy treats from certain pastry’s that they sell at Crave in Studio City and Sherman Oaks. We were so enamored with the cupcakes and cakes that we found their location and they quickly became a weekly habit of ours.
This place is my go-​to place for comfort food! We call ahead and request specialty sandwiches to be made for us for lunch that same day and Esty and her momma make sure to set it up along with a yummy new pastry or snack for us to try. We have had them cater birthdays, holidays and baby showers and we love love love their treats.

Local bakery near the Van Nuys Airport. I think this place is set up to cater, but they have a small storefront with some incredible baked goods. Parking here is terrible, they may have a lot in the back. The lady working here indicated they will begin serving sandwiches next week, which is a big plus and more than makes up for the poor parking situation. They do not sell milk here to go with your order but the lady said she would give me a glass of milk and generously went and got one from the back. Very nice; however, a little fuzzy math on my order. Ordered two items at $ 1.75 and she indicated it was $ 5. So she was off by $ 1.50 who cares, still tipped on top of the fuzzy math.
If they fix the fuzzy math situation, put a sign for parking in the back, and perhaps put a nicer couple tables out front, this is a 5-​star bakery. As it is now 4-​stars might be a little generous but the baked goods I sampled were excellent and the Lady was friendly.

Okay the first time I came here it was on a Groupon. I have been back twice since because the Crumb Fairy refuses to disappoint. I will not tell you that they baked the most fabulous cake I have ever eaten, but I will tell you that they have baked some of the most fabulous cakes. Top five for sure, and the princess cake is definitely the best princess cake anyone at my wife’s birthday party last week ever had. Sweet Lady Jane? Forget about it.
Cakes are custom made so you need to call ahead. I left a message on their answering machine last night, and will be picking up another princess cake shortly.

A magical place indeed! The Crumb Fairy Bakery is a fantastic find. The store front itself is located in an industrial zone and is tiny. When you walk inside your senses are quickly awakened by the aromatic goodness and hand selected assortment of treats luring you in for a closer look. And yes, through a looking glass, you realize the magic is happening right in front of your eyes in a much larger space – a state of the art on-​site bakery! Bakers bouncing back and forth – kneading, piping, whisking – all in harmony careful not to collide with one another like notes on sheet music working together to create a masterpiece.
My godchildren were turning 1, and we were throwing a party to celebrate them with the pomp and circumstance they deserve. I mean, they were so accomplished after all – being able to eat solid foods and point to their noses on demand. The least we could do was to honor them with a party themed by the two most expensive licensed figures of all time for a birthday celebration they would never remember. Mickey and Minnie Mouse of course!!!
I tasked the bakery to create two cakes in the essence of the two most recognizable and beloved cartoon characters of all time. Not as easy as you think, but Esti (Queen of the Fairies) and her crew delivered! The process began with the scheduling of an appointment. I met with Marcus at the store front who jump-​started the process and provided such great service with a smile. He also recommended I try the bread pudding before I took off, and I’m glad I did… that stuff was ridiculously good. I exchanged ideas by email with Esti up until our in-​person meeting where we sketched the cakes, discussed colors, fondant vs. frosting, flavors, delivery expectations and of course pricing. Esti and her team were incredible!
The cakes were absolutely gorgeous – bursting with vibrant colors and elegantly made to resemble the essence of Mickey and Minnie. And the red and blue velvet were a hit!!! So moist and perfect all around. My godchildren enjoyed the cakes as measured by the sheer delight on their faces and cake remnants on their Disney licensed outfits. We were so happy to have had the Crumb Fairy Bakery be part of such an important occasion and would recommend them to help make your next occasion as magical.

I wanted a bunch of different cakes at my wedding so when a groupon came available for crumb Fairy, we bought 2. I ordered the berry cloud and the banana split. Both were delicious. I had a hard time choosing which cakes to buy, they all look so good on the website. I ordered them on the phone and my friend picked them up on the way out to Santa Clarita. The cakes were gorgeous and we ended up using the Berry Cloud cake for our «cutting cake». I am a baker and I’m very picky. These passed my strict standards.

Farm Birthday Party for my 2 year old and I went here. OMG — I ordered farm animal cupcakes and a Farm themed birthday cake.
They were so friggen cute!!! I will have to upload the photos.
They also make amazing bread pudding and other goodies.
I will order more cakes from them for sure and I actually think that although my custom order was fantastic, their regular non-​fondant selection of cakes look amazing.
Esti was great and so was the amazing guy (sorry forgot his name :() that assist her.

A small bakery with a limited walk in selection. That’s ok because what they produce is totally and 100% top shelf.
I have not had them make a cake, but I will the quality of the baked good and quiche and … OMG the BROWNIES !!!

I love the Crumb Fairy! I recently had a luncheon and we ordered cupcakes to be delivered the morning of the event. Esti herself delivered the 124 cupcakes and they were all delightfully delicious and beautiful. We arranged them on wired frame «trees» and they served as our dessert and beautiful centerpieces. We received several compliments for their looks and taste from the ladies at the luncheon and the event manager of the club where we had our event.
This is the second time I’ve used the Crumb Fairy and not sure why anyone would give them a negative review. I had a completely different experience.

Seriously. Their professionalism is definitely not one of their forte and their cake is definitely not one of their forte.
I called in morning because the mother who was hosting an event contacted me to notify me that she was very very happy with her child’s 1^st birthday party EXCEPT for the CAKE! she advised me that the cake looked «very very unpleasant». We had ordered a soft pastel turquoise butter cream that looks almost like fondant but what she received very dark blue green with no hint of pastel with uneven finish! The cake pretty much ruined the beautiful head table. They definitely do not measure up to their positive feedback.
I called in this morning to see what had happened, as soon as I gave a negative feedback about the cake the mother of the baker (who answered the phone) got very offensive and with out any apology about the turnout of the cake she basically said «the cake is perfect, we have good review on Unilocal.I’m done talking» and basically hung up on me. I’m appalled and disgusted at their professionalism.
I got a call back from the baker Esti about 10 minutes later, wow. I see where the bakery’s «professionalism» comes from. I have nothing good to say about them.
The quality and the professional touch of this bakery definitely lacks big time.

If this shop remotely came close to handling this situation with a response like they have left with this review when I first called, I would have been very understanding. We simply needed an explanation as to why we ended with a color we never asked for. Instead of an explanation or an apology of the turnout they hung up the phone on me (twice both the mother of the owner and the owner) with saying the cake was «perfect, just what we asked for and they are done talking to me». The cake was far from what we asked for. They asked why I called 5 days later? Well people have things to do and people work, my client called me last night to tell me that t she was pleased with the turn out of the event and wanted me to give her thanks to the coordinator who planned this event EXCEPT for the «unpleasant looking cake». The cake was tossed. $ 65 wasted. I called the bakery immediately the next day (which is today). If this bakery had calmly listened to what I had to explain instead of their egoistic pride taking over when a criticism was hit, I believe this situation could have ended differently.

This review is based on our recent wedding cake tasting…
We met with Esti who provided us a cake tasting buffet of sorts. There was a platter of 14 different creams and fillings and a platter of 6 different cakes. During the tasting, we were able to create our own cake-​filling combinations. We did our tasting in her office, eating at an extension of her desk. The cake tasting was $ 28.
Esti’s style is definitely more casual and open than other places we’ve tasted. When we started the tasting, she sketched out how the cake would look and allowed us to be independent creating our combinations. Not sure how to start, her assistant advised us to start with tasting the cake. The cakes were hearty and dense, while the filings and butter creams were rich and sweet. There was no doubt that one would get filled eating one slice.
Esti would periodically check-​in on us. She was always affirming of our choices. We were thankful we took notes on all the varieties because it became harder and harder to keep track. Rather than having a portfolio of cakes, she used images off her computer. Her estimate was verbal rather than written. $ 750 mid-​range for a 12−10−8 tiered cake with 3 different fillings. We also needed to provide our own cake stand.
While this tasting style would be great for some, it didn’t suit our style. My fiancé and I do better when given structured options and work with suggestions after we express our decisions. We would have preferred having a dialog with our baker. It really comes down to preference in style. If you’re looking for a unique, truly personalized cake, Esti is for you.

HOLY SNAPS! This place is far from society.
It’s located down a small industrial/​commercial street that looks abandoned but is not. Street parking available, but I’m not sure if there’s designated parking. It could be easy to miss and the only thing I saw was a «Crumb Fairy» flag/​banner. I placed an order online for a red velvet cake the day before I picked it up. It was ready when I arrived, which I appreciate. She was also offering a bogo offer (buy one get one free) for her cupcakes and baked goods. I got the blondie (which looked like a chocolate chip cookie but tastes 100 980 3420x better!) and I got the bread pudding. Both were insanely delicious and no words could describe the joy I felt when I ate it…
THIS PLACE IS WORTH THE DRIVE. If I ever need a baked goods caterer, Crumb Fairy would be my top pick… Oh! The owner is insanely friendly as well!

I really wanted to rave about this place after seeing almost all fives across the board! I thought this was going to be the most delicious bakery I could get cakes for an extravagant party!!!
I was sadly dissappointed, there wasn’t anything special about it, especially the prices. We had a party and ordered the banana coconut cake and strawberry shortcake.
What made it even worse was, they didn’t even show my brother the cake when he picked it up, I wish I was there to witness that because I would have said something, what if it was the wrong order, or what if the names were spelt incorrectly. Anyways it’s always good to let your customer know what the cake looks like when you pick it up, so you know what you got and paid for! That was pretty dissappointing… because every cake I’ve ever gotten and picked up, even from grocery stores they’ve always shown me!!!
Anyways on to the flavor, in the banana coconut cake, I couldn’t taste any coconut, just banana, which I enjoy banana, but if your going to tell me you’re making a banana coconut it should taste like both, this was dissappointing because I was expecting a bursting unique flavor. I feel like I could have gotten this from a local bakery… or even a grocery store…
On to the strawberry shortcake, another cake which lacked the flavor I expected more from, the cake was moist, nicely decorated, but again for the price and all the rave reviews, I’ve ordered strawberry shortcake many times, and this didn’t blow me away. I’ve actually had better :(
Not sure I will be ordering cakes from here again, I do not mind paying the price for outstanding delicious food or desserts, trust me, but this was not worth the price, or the flavor.

Oh my… Raspberry Chocolate Mousse in a chocolate edible bowl! This is so filling two people could easily share. :) They will be opening their store to the public soon! You can currently order some of their tasty treats or beautiful cakes off their website and pick them up. They need a 24 hour notice.

Give the owner/​baker Esti your ideas of what you want and she can use her creative wand and whip it up for you and make it look so beautiful too.
I discovered Crumb Fairy at the Unilocal’s 100 days of Summer Event. This was the first of all the tasty bites offered at this event that caught my eye. I sampled every tasty morsel off that table… Yes no lie, I was the one lingering around and swooping my hand in through people to get a sample of it all. Everything displayed on that table was Artistic, Beautiful and divine. I would’ve licked the plate if there weren’t so many people around. :) Okay… so I might’ve picked some crumbs off my shirt and deposited them directly into my mouth… shhh… don’t judge. ;) «The Cheeseburger” — looking cake was so divine. It really looked like a mini burger! Than there was the popsicle push up of passionfruit with pomegrante seeds in the middle… that thing vanished too quickly, I was sure someone had at it when I turned my head away. Than the cute little cone that had chocolate hiding inside of it… I devoured it like I did everything else. Not to mention the little ice cream cup and I didn’t know the cup was edible. :(As it really felt like a cup. I’m surprised I didn’t eat that too even if it wasn’t edible… haha
Parking is a challenge on this street, I’d say bring someone with you so you can illegally park and pick up your order.

I’m am absolutely going through withdrawals.
Have you ever eaten somewhere so delicious that it just sticks with you? Well this is Crumb Fairy Bakery for me. Crumb Fairy Bakery is officially my go to place here in LA.
I had the pleasure of trying an array of their delicious confections at a local event and I am so glad I was able to give them a try. Their desserts are just beautiful! The White Chocolate and Fruit Push-​Pop are divine and delicate while being very well balanced against the fresh fruit. I am also in love with the little cone treat with dark chocolate ganache. It seriously brought me close to heaven, and the Hamburger Cupcake is a work of art and SOOO nummy. Even better, the cakes are perfectly moist, full of flavor but aren’t too sweet. I’ve also seen where many bakeries overpower their icing with too much food coloring and sugar without thinking about the fact that there has to be a balance of flavor, well they did not make this mistake. Their icings are simply DELICIOUS!
Also, you guys know I am a stickler for good service. I can say that the ladies who work there were so personable and friendly. I want that type of relationship with those I buy from, especially when it comes to sweets. :)
