Max’s German & Japanese Car Service

Was referred to Max from a good friend of mine because of his knowledge about VW’s. My TDi was leaking oil somewhere. Max had steam cleaned the engine and then find out (where he *thought*) the leak was coming from. Charged me $ 200 for parts and labor only to find out it was still leaking oil.
What a waste of money. The two stars is for the previous visit, where Max was the only shop to carry a part for the ALH engine. Thanks, but i wont be back.

Max had mostly junk parts for Corrados lying around 10 years ago so I figured he knew something about the car other than stripping them. My VW Corrado was having some serious problem I think with ECU but wasn’t sure. Long story short I took my car they tinkered with it like shadetree mechanics and charged me $ 700 and it still ran like sh: t and said he couldn’t figure it out. In my personal opinion he wanted me to just give the car to him for the price of the work. Stay away from this guy place if you have something electronic to work on. He had the nerve to call me a couple years later to tell me he still has some used parts available. F’n wack job

People! Max is the best! Had to get my fuel pump replaced and he did it! So reasonable too! Go to him!

Max is my man!
I lived in Weho a couple of years back and I got one of Max’s flyers on my car. I knew that when I got the flyer I would want him to service my 1997 Jetta’s. The flyer exuded confidence, specialization and knowledge of VW’s so when I moved to Sherman Oaks for a year I looked him up. It’s crazy that I haven’t given him a review as I didn’t even think about it until my latest car killing escapade.
Once again I was on the verge of killing another car, this time my car over heated and water got in the oil. A neighbor mechanic called it the milkshake syndrome. Anyway I was looking at getting rid of the car or spending up to 1,800 for repairs. Long story short Max hooked me up for a ¹⁄₃ of that and I tossed in a $ 50 tip.
Point is when you have a mechanic that specializes in a particular line and has those crashed vehicies around for parts is always a good deal. I would highly recommend Max to anyone that has a Volkswagon in particular although he can work on any type of car.

I have a low mileage 2003 Audi TT 1.8 roadster. I made the mistake of buying this car with an automatic transmission. At 62K miles, the transmission was slipping, and stalling all over los angeles. Very scary experience. I bought the car from Downtown LA Audi, and they serviced the car always. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill for over $ 8000, and was told that this may not even fix the problem.
Luckily I met Max. He is honest, fixed my transmission by just servicing the transmission for $ 300. I didn’t have to change the transmission, and the car runs great. I saved thousands of dollars and will never take my audi to any other place on earth.
