certified professional dog trainer-​knowledge assessed thru the ccpdt. charter member of the association of pet dog trainers. we attend annual seminars to maintain certifications and stay up to date! we choose what works for our students, both dog and owner! We specialize in problem dogs, but work with everything from pups to elders! Training dogs and owners helps keep dogs out of the shelters and rescues. When a dog and owner aren’t the «right fit» we try to help with placement! we discourage purchasing and selling of pets as property! We help with behavior problems such as potty training, fear issues, leash walking, bolting out, stealing, feces eating, biting and aggression issues, chewing, jumping, separation anxiety, etc. Group class for AKC obedience and rally, tricks, socializing, etc. We refer to veterinary behaviorists when it is needed. we do board ‘n train, private, group. and referrals for petsitting, daycare, grooming, veterinary care!

Katie is the best trainer to ever walk the face of the earth! She has taught her students so many things about dog psychology, and my dogs respond so well to her methods it’s unbelievable! She’s never once been mean and doesn’t go by the old school strict style and disciplinary actions some other trainers use. People who encounter my Corgi are all amazed by what he can do. In fact, I’ve even been amazed at the things you can teach a dog to do! I’m still learning new things with my dog every time we go to class, and my experiences have been nothing short of spectacular with My Best Friend Obedience! Not only are they great trainers, but are great people as well. I’m lucky to have met them, and I highly recommend anyone with a dog to join up and get started!

I’ve taken classes with Katie McGuire from MBFO, she is truly amazing. Her patience with her students and dogs is truly motivating. I never thought my dogs would be able to do half the tricks and behaviors they do.
Even my foster D who had resource guarding issues and would randomly snap while being pet, with Katie’s help I am now able to play fetch with her and she drops the toy for me. Also, she is beginning to trust me more and more.

Love love love My Best Friend Obedience! This is the second class we’ve taken with Bobby and he is fantastic (as is his lovely doggy assistant Toby)! Our pup was really reactive on leash and generally has a hard time meeting dogs on leash, but since we’ve taken the Beginner’s course, his behavior has really improved. It’s all about positive reinforcement. Our boy gets bored easily so Bobby had some great tips about how to get your pup’s attention and keep it! Bobby is better than a dog whisperer — he can read their minds! Training is a lot of fun, but it’s also a lot of work — so make sure you’re prepared to practice and put the time in to get the most out of class. I’m so glad I took this course and my pup is on his way to being a well-​adjusted and socialized little guy.

My wife and recently started training our puppy with MBFO. Having a great time so far. I like that they don’t make us feel like when we make a mistake the world has come to an end. They’re very patient with the dogs and us.
We’ve met three of the trainers and like them all. And we plan to continue taking our pup here for future classes. Agility is the one we’re really looking forward to.

We first called Karen in 1997 to help us acclimate a second dog into our household. Since then she, or one of her trainers, has helped us with 3 other dogs. That’s 18 years of being her clients! Karen is extremely knowledgable and friendly, and she was always there when we needed her. I have done private training and group classes, and her patience, love for animals and expertise has made her our go-​to dog person. With our newest addition, Karen sent Katie our way, and she was just as amazing. I always recommend My Best Friend Obedience and I have always gotten positive feedback from everyone who uses them for their dog training needs.

Karen and her staff are knowledgeable, reliable, and kind. It is a pleasure to work with any of them in the training of my dogs. One of my dogs is aggressive to other dogs, and Karen provided the ideal environment for her to improve in the basic, intermediate and growley classes. An agility class was also recommended and that helped greatly.

When we first brought our dog home as a puppy, Karen came to our house, «puppy-​proofed» it, and taught us how to train and teach our girl– from potty training to crate training and everything in between. She was a lifesaver! We then took our dog to Karen’s obedience class. Started with beginner class. Karen was amazing! She taught our dog AND us! When our dog graduated, she got to choose a toy, which she still has and sleeps with to this day. She adored Karen and she just loved going to class! So did we, so we went back for class #2– intermediate. Karen is a miracle worker. She knows what she’s doing and has a magical way with dogs! I highly recommend My Best Friend, I wouldn’t go anywhere else and am so grateful for our experience with them!

I love My Best Friend Obedience! My boyfriend and I have only worked with Katie and she’s been amazing! She came to my house once to work with my dog’s separation anxiety. She left exercises to practice and they’ve helped tremendously! I also signed my dog up for private classes to work on her aggression to other dogs. Even though the classes aren’t over my dog can be in the near vicinity of other dogs without going crazy! I can’t wait to see what the next two classes are going to teach. I love going every week and I’m even going to enroll my dog into obedience classes. Katie definitely makes sure you understand WHY your dog thinks a certain way.
Before coming to My Best Friend Obedience I had read tons of books and seems videos on how to train my dog but even with all that I’ve learned so much! Katie has definitely made a difference!

Fantastic. We’ve had Katie come to our house 4 times for a variety of issues (anxiety, food-​snatching, jumping) with our dog. She is a great teacher and trainer – patient, friendly, understanding, clear, and easy to understand. She gives us a clear set of instructions to follow in between sessions. She didn’t just talk «at» us; she worked with us to make sure we really understood what to do with our dog, the rationale behind the bad behaviors, and what we had been doing wrong before to reinforce bad behaviors. Also a very good value for the amount of time she spent with us. Highly recommend!

We Have known Karen since our first beagle in 1995 (may the Gooch RIP). She’s been our dogs’ trainer ever since. We’ve done both her group lessons at the park as well as periodic private lessons. We love her and is the best trainer ever. All her assistants are also very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this company!

Karen and My Best Friend Obedience are the trainers to go to for your puppy, good or difficult dog. They have great dog sense, treat all dogs with enthusiasm and kindness, and make it easy for the owner to understand what to do to keep the dog well trained. They have all sorts of wonderful classes for every level of dog, and the classes are really fun. Though I’ve only taken classes with Katie, I’ve met some of the other trainers (as well as Karen). This group of trainers are stellar in their work with dogs as well as with the owners. :) They maintain a really positive, upbeat attitude and no problem is too big! Gotta be one of the VERY BEST out there! Karen and her team are extremely well-​versed in different training styles and the differences and nuances of different breeds’ characteristics and temperaments. They are always positive, encouraging & patient. The wide variety of courses offered are endless and the fact that Karen is an official AKC evaluator, you know you are getting the best training around! I highly recommend MBFO to anyone!
