New York Style Optometry

I came in today because it’s been 2 years since my last exam. I was a bit nervous because even though I have had glasses since I was 19. I never found a good optometrist that I can say, I trusted and felt comfortable with, who didn’t make me feel they only doing it because I have insurance.
One of the few reason I was drawn to this place: 1) my insurance is accepted here 2) the Unilocal reviews 3) the main thing is the selection on eyewash. Wow they have so many selections it was hard to decide at first. They have designer frames and many other and affordable frames. I love it.
The staff omg they are amazing, even when you walk through the door. They great you and acknowledge you. The optometrist herself is also very sweet and kind. I finally found an optometrist that treated me well and made me feel very comfortable.
I got two frames, Prada to be exact and honestly the previous optometrist I had, even with insurance for similar Pradas, I feel now over charged me. After being here and buying two frames with prescription here cost me less compare to the 1 frame I got 2 years ago.
In all honestly I found a new optometrist and I couldn’t be happier.

My husband has been coming here for many years to have his eyes checked and I decided to get my annual eyes checked here as well. Great place with all the newest technology/​machines. Dr. Chae was so nice, knowledgeable, and personable. Her staff were all very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!

Great crew, great service, the biggest eyeglasses selection in the valley and reasonable price tags for everything!

Went in for an eye exam & to get fitted for contacts & glasses. Dr. Chae & her team are personable, thorough & incredibly helpful. They have a great selection of frames including designer frames at a great price. And actually spent time helping me find the best frames for my face. they called me back after some of the paperwork i submitted needed further tests and scheduled an appointment for me, i previously left a bad review i might have judged the dr. there too quickly, they were still nice after my previous review and i really appreciate that, just for them reading reviews and addressing complaints means something to me!

Dr. Chae is so kind and awesome! I got a trial of contacts here, and a pair of armani glasses and they look sweet! A wide variety of glasses, including asian fit, and a very professional staff! couldn’t recommend anyone more!

I love Dr. Chae and her entire staff! I have been going there for years now and they never ever disappoint! They have an excellent selection for faces and styles of all kind, although I am partial to their designer choices (especially the Persols.) I’m Korean so I have a rounder face and a button nose, and they are so great at helping me find glasses that fit me. I also have severe astigmatism and near sightedness and I love that I can trust Dr. Chae with my eyes. She is always so warm, kind, professional, and goes out of her way to serve her customers. My entire family now goes to Dr. Chae and we all have bought glasses and sunglasses from her. I wholeheartedly recommend this place!

I have never had my eyes checked before and went into the closest optometrist in my area and I’m glad I came here. I went in wide eyed not knowing what to expect but the staff was kind and the service was quick. Dr. Chae was kind enough to explain to me what was going on and why I needed glasses. The process was smooth and the experience was pleasant, I recommend it!

My sister got her glasses here couple years ago and I thought I would give it a try. I just walked in on Thursday morning and told them I need eye checkup + new pair of glasses. Doctor asked me what kind of design I wanted, gave me few glasses to choose, and gave me my alone time to try all the glasses I want (I hate it when they follow me around and watch me put them on and etc). I was in and out from this place in 30 minutes (40 mins tops). Friendly staffs and knowledgeable doctor (Dr.Chae) who gives you explanations throughout the whole exam (I’m pre-​med and she KNOWS what she’s doing).
Anyways I got my glasses and I am very satisfied. I will definitely come back here.

I have been wearing prescription glasses for the past 15 years now. After moving into this wonderful valley I had to find a new Eye Dr. I found this office here on Unilocal and I have to say I made the perfect choice. The staff and Dr. Have superb customer service and overall very knowledgable. Though I did have a little incident when one of the staff members accidentally scratched one of my lenses when adjusting the frame. They quickly took full responsibility and replaced the lens at no cost. We are human and we were built to make mistakes, accidents happen. In no way am I criticizing anyone, all I’m saying is that this is the type of establishment that makes you feel like you matter and they always want to make sure that you are 100% satisfied. I’m glad to say that this is my place for my vision needs. Love this place 6 …

So, the time finally came when I had to go get an eye exam (getting old is not fun). Searched through my insurance to see who I could see and NY Style came up (1 star by default). After reading some reviews & checking to see that it’s pretty close to my work, I set an appointment. For the next day. Great that I could be accommodated so quickly (2 stars). Was greeted immediately upon walking in & filled out my form — note: one form, yes! — and waited a few more mins to begin the easy part of the visual exam. At this point I mentioned that I did not want my eyes dilated for that part and was told, «No problem. There is another option if you want to check your eyes, but you don’t have to do it if you’re not comfortable». Um, elevated to 3 stars at this point. Thank you Abigail for not pressuring me or making me feel like a bad patient! Finally met Dr. Chae and she is great. I mean that. Really down to earth, funny, smart, and explains it all. Plus, she double checked my insurance to see what would be my best bet as far as getting glasses (4 stars). After the exam, both Dr. Chae & Abigail made the horror of choosing glasses super easy. Really. I was done within 20 mins (5 stars).
If you’re in the valley, this is a great place. Plus, the Korean grocery store next door is amazing and worth a field trip in itself.

Dr Chae is an amazingly patient, caring, conscientious doctor. She is very easy to talk to and gives a thorough and complete eye exam. I feel very secure in trusting her with my family’s eye care.
I did an Optomap retinal exam and i so highly recommend it as part of your annual exam. It was fast and comfortable and it only took a few minutes.

I’m really pleased with my whole experience here. I was debating between two places and decided on this place because Dr. Chae went to the Berkeley School of Optometry.
Easy parking, business hours that are convenient, and her staff is professional and courteous. It took me about an hour (if not longer!) to choose frames and the person helping me was totally patient and let me take ask the time I needed, giving his opinion and feedback whenever I asked. They figured out my insurance and had me glasses ready in less than the week they promised me. Dr. Chae is my new eye doctor from now on!

My bf family has been coming here for years and without insurance I decided to give it a shot!
It was easy to make an appointment right away with the date and time I requested, the girls were super nice and attentive.
The doctor is great she explained everything to me In detail of where my eye sight was and bc my eye sight has gotten worse it was nice to hear someone who cared enough to explain to me what was going on.
I ended up getting Chanel glasses which as a pretty penny, but the doctor was kind enough to give me a few discounts off the frames and the visit.
I would recommend this place to everyone, they make you feel welcome and like they really care.

I’ve been living in the U.S. for 10 years and I went to see few optometrists. I used to go see optometrist in San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles until I went to see Dr. Chae in New York Style Optometry.
To be honest, one of the optometrists I used to see in different Optometry left me a bad impression. I paid for my glasses and a new prescription, but my prescription did not fit me at all. I was very frustrated :(
But one day, one of my friends suggested me to go see Dr. Chae.
Straight to my point, Dr. Chae is awesome! :) She is caring, smart, and friendly. She tries to get to know you and tries her best to give you the best. I went to see her few days ago for a new prescription and I was having trouble choosing contact lenses. I did not know whether I need to try the one with stigmatism or the one without stigmatism, which is the one I used to wear. Dr. Chae texted me the next day before she puts in an order and tried so hard to give me what’s best for me.
I said thank you and she said, «It depends on you but I really want you to feel comfortable since your vision plays an important role in your life.» She gave me few sample lenses to try and it fits me perfectly!
She is definitely the best optometrist that I’ve ever met! :) I live in Irvine but I go all the way to San Fernando Valley whenever I need a new prescription. I recommend her whole-​heartedly! :)

Took my wife to NYSO to buy her a new pair of Chanel sunglasses. They did not have the style my wife wanted but knew exactly the one she wanted, the wife took a picture of the sunglasses from a magazine and showed it to Abigail (employee). NYSO ordered the sunglasses and called me when they received it.
My wife is so happy with the sunglasses. Happy wife, happy husband lol.

I usually go to Costco for my contacts and exam, thinking they are the cheapest. I am leaving to Korea this Monday, and realized I ran out of contacts! I called around a few places in panic. Jay at the front desk made some accommodations and she took me in as the last patient of the evening. Dr. Chae gave me a very thorough exam. She even flipped my eyelids! She showed me a gross picture of what can be hiding under the lids and explained to me why she did this.
I wasn’t planning to get glasses, although I really needed them, because of my tight student budget. They offered a discounted package deal, and I was able to get the contact exam, a year supply of contacts, and a pair of glasses all at an affordable price! And they told me they will be all ready by the next day!
This place is awesome. The staff and doctor were very friendly and accommodating to my schedule and budget. The price of the exam is one of the best in the area. I was surprised that they even have a very big selection of nice designer glasses, and I plan to go back to get one. If you don’t want to take a number and wait around to be serviced, try this place!
