Van Nuys Civic Child Development Center

My daughter is in the LAUP AM program now but she started in the Toddler room and has been going to this school for two years now. All the teachers and staff here at VNCCDC are AWESOME! My daughter loves this school. Thank you VNCCDC for all that you for our kids!

I’m sure there aren’t more reviews of VNCCDC because parents don’t want you to know about it. There is a long wait list. The teachers are very nurturing. Everyone at the school knows our children’s names. They focus on the big picture when it comes to teaching. Whether they create a space station in the classroom to teach an entire lesson around space exploration, or an igloo made out of milk gallons and a cave to explore hibernation with the children, they teach with love and creativity. We have moved and continue to take our children here. I have visited many other schools and have not found the quality of care for a comparable price anywhere else.

My 4 year old got a spot in their LA-​UP program for preschool last year and my wife and I were so glad he did because it is literally across the street from my work and 4 blocks from our home so it was super close to take him.
He really enjoyed going here to, and because we got in the LA-​UP program the price was alittle cheaper then if he didnt get in the program, so that was nice.
Like Lindsey A. stated, twice during the school year they sat us down one on one and showed us a thick book of writings and pictures of our son playing and kept us closely informed of his progress and how he behaved with other kids. The entire staff is great and easy to approach if you have a concern or question. My son used to run in and hug his teachers every morning and thats a great feelings seeing your child do that.
I also never thought it until now but also Like Lindsey. A. stated, they have those half walls so everyone can see everything that is going on.
When LA-​UP was over on June of 2013, we actually kept our son in there paying more for the month of July.
The joint is spotless and every child has to wash their hands before entering a new room which is definately a plus. They give each parent a key to swipe and open the front door which is awesome.
I say definately give them a try.

I am a working parent of two with significant experience with childcare options. We moved to the area in the Summer and both of my children attend Van Nuys. It is hands down the most loving, collaborative, and wonderful child care center I have ever encountered. You can tell that the administration is strong because the teachers are experienced, devoted to the children, and the climate is so supportive. The school includes 4 distinct «levels” — infant room, toddlers, preschool, and pre-​K. Most of the kids have gone for 5 years in a row. I’ve never encountered teachers who seem to enjoy working together more– and happy teachers make for happy kids. It is also unusual in that the facility has «half walls» in each room– so the quality of the care is transparent to all of the 50 or so parents dropping off and picking up their kids all day. My recent parent teacher conference included a 50 page assessment– with photos-​documenting that my youngest, a toddler met each development objective. My pre-​school aged daughter is devoted to her teachers. They are an LA-​UP universal preschool rated «5-​star» by the First 5 Commission due to the experience and quality of their preschool program. I would recommend the school, if you are lucky enough to get a spot. County employees have first preference, but there are many parents (such as myself) who do not met that category. Run, don’t walk, to Van Nuys. If you don’t like this site, then quite frankly, you aren’t going to like daycare anywhere– and I’ve had my kids at facilities that were twice as expensive.
