This was my second time here. First time my husband had a great time food is great service was even better but just came here for the second time for my sisters bday and my dad had glass in his Shepard pie. After telling the server she was shocked and did her job and told the manager. The assistant manager came by and instead of saying sorry said this was a really goofy thing to happen. I was appalled. We were a party of 11 and everyone stopped eating due to this. Instead of comping all the meals the manager instead comped the meal that had glass in it and charged is for the rest. I will no longer be going back to this place. I very disappointed and frankly am very irritated with the customer service! Good luck everyone

I’ve been to Gustav’s a couple of times, usually for appetizers and beer. The beer is delicious. Just the taste transported me back to Germany. We really enjoyed the sausages and pretzels. We will be back for dinner soon!

Great happy hour! Awesome atmosphere and friendly staff. Short waiting times and open seating in the pub. Did I mention great happy hour. Because it is great. Good food, good portions, good prices.

Had friendly and attentive service, and the food was great. Tried many kinds of sausages, sauerkraut with pineapple in it, and the mashed potatoes with horseradish were heavenly.

I have been several times, last night they got my attention. The service was seriously lousy. Getting three stars from me since the service is generally a bit better than it was. FYI staff, if there is a stack of plates on the corner, grab them. It took us as long to figure the 15% tip for every bill at the table as it did to get drink refills.

Nice place, decorated somewhat upscale. I am not the consummate German food expert by any stretch, but this place had good food and a solid beer selection, so it’s good by me. Staff was friendly.

A great little chain restaurant! The crew is nice and professional and the atmosphere is pretty great! It’s a nice little date night place when you’re looking for something casual! We checked out the happy hour menu and it was a fantastic selection. I had the cabbage rolls and they were so delish!

It’s been over a year since I originally came to Gustav’s with my husband. Since the first visit we have been here several times. Although it is true that this place is a lot like a chain restaurant, it’s the people that work here that make the difference. The last time we came here we sat in the bar. That was a great choice. We received excellent service & my husband enjoyed one of their awesome lager beers on tap. The bartender is the one that helped us. She had great recommendations. We ordered the fondue to start, which was very tasty & they give you a large portion for an appetizer. We both ordered the Munich dinner. My favorite part was the German wiener. It had an excellent snap to the skin & delicious taste. Our glasses were never empty & our service rocked. We will definitely be back here as we found the prices to be a good value also.

I got the sausages, which is great because you can get up two or three different kinds, wasnt really a fan of the red cabbage, sauerkraut and potato salad were good, the potato salad is served warm with a hint of mustard seeds. You can substitute a side, I got spaetzle(sp, not sure I spelled it right), that was my favorite, my hubby got a chicken plate, breaded and deep fried, it came with red cabbage and mashed potatoes, it was also good. The waitress was nice, however she took a little too long at times, she dropped our food off and didnt remove the no longer needed dishes that we moved off to the side, table was a little cramped by this point since we were seated at the table for only two people. Then she took a little long in checking us out, other than that, would eat here again.

Too bad. Have been going to Gustavs/Rheinlander for 28 years, but it has declined to the point to where I refuse to return to at least Gustavs in Vancouver. No quality control in what comes out of the kitchen, or even dried crust of something inside a beer glass. All the waitress could say was ooooh. It is hit and miss, but most often a miss. My experience today was disgusting. Their parking lot is empty and it’s the managements fault. When Horst Mager ran their restaurants dining was an exceptional experience. No more.

Had dinner here with the family couple nights ago. We had a wide variety of food and it was all great. Clean and fun atmosphere. Our service was quick and friendly and helpful. Will gladly come here again and again.

I have been coming to Gustavs for the past few years and have come to know the servers in the 3 locations that I frequent most. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and they have great service. I am never disappointed about any aspect of the experience. From the moment you walk in to a clean polished restaurant where NOONE is leaning on anything or using their phone or eating at the host stand to the moment you leave, you want to come back again. Beer on tap is at a very nice temperature, never too foamy, never ever warm. They will give you a rundown on what beer is what and the aroma and complexity of the beers which was so helpful. Get the regular fondue(or the crab) you can also take it to go! Which is right up my ally. So creamy, love that it’s home made day of and not carted in or made days in advance. Happy hour is from 3 – 6 and 9 — close, everywhere in the restaurant so it’s kid friendly which is awesome. There are plenty of options for all interests. The kicker is that there is a GF menu! Never would I think that a German restaurant that serves the most amazing fondue would also have a pretty good GF options available. I am very impressed with the owners and the managers. Good job guys.

We go here at least once every time my daughter visits. She loves their Blackened Salmon. We always enjoy the sausage fondue and the service is good. The food is decent, always served hot and fresh but heavy for my tastes and not a lot of variety. I usually end up getting the roast pork which is flavorful but doesn’t knock your socks off. Plus Side. They have a fantastic german beer selection and many choices on tap. Their Fondue is excellent and they are a good place to go have a few beers and an appetizer but admittedly not my favorite place to dine in the area.

Would have gave higher stars if they didn’t blast crappy pop music in the bar! It’s a German pub so was expecting to have a more of a German feel. Also staff seemed pretty stretched thin so service was missing. But fondue and the links were good and there was a good beer selection. It feels more like a Chili’s/Applebee’s than a genuine German pub.

We came for dinner and after being seated next to a deafening group of women, chose to leave after having a round of appetizers. If you’re coming to Gustav’s, you’ll find a canned suburban chain restaurant experience waiting for you inside. Think of a restaurant that matches the style of Ducey’s Bass Lake Lodge from the set of the movie, The Great Outdoors. Come to think of it… Gustav’s might actually offer the Old 96’er! Walking in, a grouchy head hostess greated us from behind a group of four or five employees and then she asked two individuals(separately) to seat us. This just felt weird! I’m not sure why she didn’t help us herself as there was clearly NOONE else waiting in line; I’m thinking that this was her way of asserting her authority. There’s no doubt in my mind that the high prices on Gustav’s menu are directly tied to incredibly heavy labor costs. Why on earth you need as many employees working dinner service as the amount we saw last night is beyond me… but I digress. Fondue. Oh fondue, we love you. If you order fondue at Gustav’s– you might be surprised when you receive queso(think mexican cheese dip made with ementhaler) instead. Our $ 11.95 pretzel fondue errr… queso appetizer came with two lukewarm pretzels that could have easily come from costco– this was sad. My husband had the French onion soup. It definitely needed seasoning and could have benefitted from some additional time under the broiler to give the cheese cap it’s intended golden glow(no glow here, just cheesy glop atop the croûton cap). As a saving grace to a lackluster dining experience, our server Jessica was very nice and incredibly efficient. Gustav’s might want to consider giving her a promotion and getting rid of the grouchy ‘head honcho’ at the hostess stand.

Gustav’s in Vancouver, WA serves high quality, reasonably priced German Food. They also offer many gluten free choices — all have been delicious. The servers are very pleasant and accommodating. My brother loves the schnitzel with the paprika gravy(not gluten free). I love the GF wursts and pork dishes. Overall a great place to dine.

The Wife loves German food! We rarely go out for it though, so on a special occasion we decided to get dinner here before heading out on the rest of our date night. I like German food, but nothing near the degree that The Wife does. We started with the Fondue, nothing like reliving the 1970s! A lot of you probably weren’t around back then but fondue pots were the house warming go to for years. By the 1980s you couldn’t swing a dead cat at a garage sale without hitting two; but I digress. The fondue comes with white and dark bread and a wonderful creamy cheese to dip into. A must have here. Service was totally on top of everything and once we decided what we wanted the order was in and the good times were indeed rolling! The Wife could not decide what she wanted so she went big and ordered the Feast, a little of everything. I love wursts and so I went for three wursts with red cabbage salad and spetzele noodles with German potato salad. The food came just as the fondue was dwindling, timing is everything in life and German food, you can quote me. For date night this place is great for us, the dark woods invoke a romantic atmosphere, nice closed in booth and German comfort food. While I have complained in the past that the food was a little under-seasoned but on this visit I really felt like everything was on point. The Wife reported the same thing for her mountain of food in the Feast. Great service as always, we need to come here more often.

When you have an awkward social event, its good to have cheap beer, assorted cocktails, and drippy cheese with carbs available for, well, solace and comfort. It was my youngest brother in law’s birthday. Never mind that I have moved out on his sibling, it was requested that my daughter be there with her parents in tow. So we went. Gustav’s. Happy Hour. Vancouver even. Ten of us sat at a booth with two tables attatched. Our server Kyle(who my MIL said looked like Tom Cruise but taller) was awesome. My two $ 4.50 happy hour lemon drops were delicious. Everyone loved their beverages including the driver who had iced tea and my kid with her strawberry lemonade. Several people tried eissomethingorother beer and loved it. Its not on the menu. Lots of fondue was consumed. We observed potato pancakes, sauerkraut, burgers, pork tenderloin, sausage and strudel. Everything is reasonably priced $ 2 – 10. Princess had mashed potatoes, half my salmon, and another salmon of her own. It was perfectly cooked with a little pickled cauliflower and yellow pepper salad next to it. I really enjoyed that. I had salad with roasted beets, arugula, and feta. It was tasty. I also shared a fondue sampler. My fav was the crab red pepper. No the pesto. No the crab. Ok both. We needed more bread. More bread cost us $ 2. Then we realized other people had leftover bread. Doh! My mother in law shared her green beans. They were crisp tender perfection and one of my favorite things of the night. Princess had ice cream. Her dad ate flourless chocolate cake. It was delicious. It had crunchy toffee on top which gave it a nice texture. Slightly sweet whipped cream and a mint leaf made for a pretty plate. Gustavs gave birthday BIL apple strudel on the house. They do not sing so we did, because thats how we roll. He took it good naturedly. He had beer. He was cool. I think this is a good family birthday choice. Our age range was 11 to 70 and everyone was happyish. I like Gustav’s. We all discussed Unilocal ratings and the table was split. 5 said 4. 5 said 5. 4.5. Id go back. Maybe with a different group, though. ;) I love them… but I was glad for my lemon drops for sure.
