Halo Designs

My cut looks nothing like the photo once I came home and started to look it over from the side and back. I showed Jamie a clear photo more than once… (Check out the pics section for this business to see the pic I showed her VS the cut I received!) and worst of all, when I called to schedule for someone to attempt to fix this cut, I was told I would have to wait a week! A WEEK? Walking around with a horrible haircut for a week??? That’s horrible to make someone do!!! Now I have to go somewhere else and pay another $ 50 and I will not have the cut I originally wanted because she cut off way too much hair :(

I have been looking for a great hairsylist ever since I moved to Vancouver a year and a half ago and I have finally found her! Kiersten was amazing! She is friendly and she took the time to really listen to what I wanted and needed. I have longer hair that is curly and has some texture issues. Kiersten nailed it both with her cutting/​layering technique and on the color with highlights! The salon environment is nice, modern and bright… without being uppity. It is conveniently located with plenty of free parking and the prices are very fair, too. Kiersten also gave my teenage daughter a fabulous haircut recently. We’re both very pleased. Thank you!

All of these 5 star reviews on Unilocal tell just how fantastic Halo Designs is. I love my stylist Amber ! She knows just what to do with my hair. The atmosphere at Halo is relaxed and cozy. You won’t be disappointed.

This is a review for the stylist — Kiersten
Let me start by saying I am not a girly girl and going to salons is NOT something I enjoy. I do however need occasional help with my hair. I moved out of PDX a while back & I needed to find a stylist who could help me maintain my hair as I grow it back out. I read good reviews of Halo on Unilocal so I called and made an appointment with one of there lower cost stylists.
Kiersten was very friendly, not overly chatty and listened to what I was trying to accomplish with my hair. She was able to give my super fine hair a very nice cut and trimmed my straight bangs very well. I have been back for a free bang trim once since my haircut. I was very pleased with the results and i will definitely be back. They have very reasonable rates for their stylists which for me is very important. YAY!

OMG! I’m soooo happy with my new short bob! Kirsten (the beautiful and friendly girl from Utah who my son fall in love with ;)) did and amazing job transformating my damage shapeless hair into a healthy chic looking style. Loooooove it! Thank you!

I am pretty sure my stylist’s name was Kirsten. A transplant from Utah with two kiddos, she has red hair and very gentle hands. I got an appointment same day and received very professional treatment and decent coffee to boot! I have a TON of hair with very strong waves in the back that few people know what to do with. She was very attentive and went shorter and shorter gradually, always making sure what she was doing was what I wanted. Great communication! It would be great if they had more sinks, as the two were occupied and I couldn’t get a last rinse to get all the cut hairs off. Other than that my experience was perfect. I’ll be back.

I am from out of town and had never been to this salon before. I needed to get my hair done for an event I was going to. After finding them on Unilocal I made an appointment to get my hair styled in an updo. Jaime was my stylist and did an incredible job. I didn’t have any pictures with me, but when I got there they let me use their ipad to look at pinterest. I found what I wanted and Jaime was able to replicate it. She did an amazing job; gave me exactly what I wanted even though I didn’t think I was doing a very good job of explaining myself! They also offered me coffee and brought it to me in a real cup… not a Styrofoam one! Which I loved :) It’s a very clean, nice, upscale salon and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Unfortunately I lost all of the pictures I took of my hair otherwise I would’ve posted them. She charged me $ 45.00.

I just had my hair done by Kiersten, the newest addition to Halo salon. I absolutely LOVE my hair. She did exactly what I hoped she would. It’s always scary going to a new stylist. Kiersten did not disappoint. Thank you, Kiersten!

As a Chinese-​American woman who transplanted to the PNW from Hawaii, I am VERY cautious about who handles my hair. I thought that all of these 5-​star reviews may be too good to be true, but Jaymie was AMAZING. She was incredibly cheerful, professional, and an expert when it came to consulting. She always checked in to make sure I was liking whatever she was doing. Even though other staff members who spoke to me briefly when I was checking in and out were so courteous, polite, and made me feel extremely comfortable and lowered my anxiety significantly. Thank you Jaymie and everyone else at Halo Designs!

I have to say that I’m very excited and happy to have found this wonderful salon. I was looking for a salon to try something that i hadn’t tried before. I wanted and was in need of a change. I wanted to get some highlights and a style cut, to say i was nervous would be an understatement. After i did some research online, i decided to give Halo designs a try. I did a walk in, just to check it out and see if i thought that this would be a place for me to experiment. The staff there was amazing and very friendly, they listened to me, and made some very good suggestions. I wasn’t planning on getting my hair done that day, but they had an opening and got me in that day, which i should say my nerves went sky high. .So i met with my artistic designer Kiersten and we discussed what i was hoping to accomplish with this visit, and how to get these results. .WELL i must say, and with all honesty (I’m not gaining anything from this) that Kiersten did an amazing job, I’m truly happy with everthing that she did for me, and for all the beauty tidbits that she offered to me. My hair looks gorgeous, Kiersten made me feel so much at ease, and this experience a true blessing. I will most certainly go back to Halo Designs. Thank you Kiersten for all your help.

Jamie gave me the BEST COLOR I have had in years! My hair looked… still looks fabulous! She trimmed my hair and did a fantastic job! She was bery sweet, kind, and sid exactly what I wanted! Can not wait to come back this month to get my icky greys gone!

Charlene has been doing my hair for 17 years and by far is the best at her craft. She has a vision for possibilities and is deeply invested in her salon staff’s ongoing professional development. The quality of color products is rich and lasting, and the attention to detail is so appreciated. I live in Portland and believe this to be the salon worth driving to.

I’d been going into Portland for years but decided to find a salon on my side of the river. I’m so glad I found Halo and Amber! For a few years, I had been using box color to dye my hair black. I was happy with the color but was ready for a change. Amber worked her magic and lightened my hair to a beautiful chocolate brown. I love my haircut, especially my new bangs. My hair is so shiny and I have been told the bangs make me look younger. Thank you, Amber, for making me look and feel beautiful!
Everyone in the salon is friendly and welcoming. Katie, the receptionist, is a sweetie and the owner, Charlene, is warm and personable. This place is upscale while still having a warm and welcoming vibe.

Amber Hall of Halo Design is an incredible colorist and stylist. She has been styling my hair for the last year and I can’t tell you how many complements I have received. I have sent a number of people to her and they have all been very happy. She has a great personality and is always a joy to talk with.
All the staff at Halo are great! They give you premier customer service, have a nice, clean, easy to find location. I definitely recommend using this salon!

My hair stylist retired and joined the Circus, so I had to find a new magician. :)
If that is not scary enough I also wanted to go shorter than I have been in years.

I recently moved to Vancouver/​Portland area and needed to find a great stylist to replace my CA stylist… Mind you, I’m very picky because of my coarse Asian hair!
But when I moved here I felt adventurous and I found Charlene here on Unilocal.I made the call and I met with her and told her «to go for it» (I had long mid back length hair). And now! I love my cut! and have been back now to have same cut done! She’s amazing and knows just what to do. No one has cut my hair on the design of what my hair does naturally, which curls! I recommend Charlene to anyone! I’m glad I found my gal here in Vancouver!

WORST hair experience in my whole life. I came in for a cut and color and wanted to go a little lighter. I showed a picture of Audrina Patridge’s hair from Sorority Row and told Jamie that I wanted my hair to be like Audrina’s. She told me that to achieve Audrina’s look I needed to get highlights so I told her that was okay. I ended up having streaky piecy blond highlights on a hair color that was darker than my original. I was so disappointed that I came in the next day to get it corrected. Jamie tried to lighten my hair and dyed it lighter but it still came out with unnatural highlights that were not blended in with the rest of the hair.
I started CRYING in the salon when I saw my hair. It was not what I had asked for at all and was not even close to the picture I came in with. To try to get rid of the highlights Jamie died my hair even darker. After four hours of being in the salon, I had darker hair than what I started with.
I paid $ 135 for dark black hair instead the light brown I was trying to get to. I’m so DISAPPOINTED and will never be back. I tried to get a partial refund for the highlights but it’s against their policy.
DO NOT GO HERE. They won’t give you your money back if you are disappointed with your hair cut or color. I’ll be telling all of my friends never to come here as well as I don’t want them to ever had the same experience I had here.

I went in for a consult and color correction. My hair was stripped, missing spots, and at least 2 colorings on top of the original mess. The girl was amazing. She was able to blend everything in, and no more spots or stripes. I’ll be making another appointment for a touch up soon.

Thank you to Charlene and Jamie for their amazing work on my transformation brunette to a redhead! I loved it when Charlene directed Jamie to have her inner artist come out! The minute I walked in I felt relaxed and comfortable. the salon was relaxing and clean. Even when the UPS guy came in at one point and it wasn’t crazy. Customers were in & out with smiles everyone treated very professionally. I already have my five week follow up appt set before I left. Whether it is a haircut — color– straightening– blow out n etc the hair stylists at Halo hair Designs are knowledgable with products & tools of the trade & $$$ prices are reasonable with the standard practice. I would recommend them to any one that needs a salon in downtown Vancouver Wa — no matter where this place is worth the drive. Thank you Charlene Jayme & Katie.
