Montage Happyland Dog & Cat Boarding Vacations

If you care for the overall health and well-​being of your dog — you don’t want to board them here.
They’re not friendly owners and showed zero concern or interest when we were explaining some characteristics about our dogs personality and minor health issue. Unless you pay extra they would not agree to even let our dog out of the kennel for some exercise. He’s a 15 pound mild mannered good natured spaniel. We never even got a thank you nor any feedback regarding our dog. When we showed up to pick him up he seemed totally out of sorts and he cried when we touched his ribs. I suspect he was not treated appropriately though I can not prove anything. Finally, when asked how our little guy did there — the answer I received from the owner was — «fine». That was it !!! I wouldn’t leave my worst enemy in the care of this place.

They always take good care of my babies. I love that the care is customizable. We always take out dogs to Montage when we leave town.

We went on vacation and left our dog with Montage for 11 days. The employees were very nice and helped me promptly at drop off and pick up. There is plenty of parking and they even have a little step thing for dogs to use to climb into tall vehicles if needed.
Our dog came home happy but he also came home with kennel cough. I know that is a risk when you board a dog even if they are vaccinated so I was not upset about that. I was however a bit put off that they did not say a thing to me about it even though he coughed horribly as I picked him up. I wrote it off as him pulling on his leash as he walked out being excited to see us but soon I figured out the real reason he was coughing. I called them right away and was told there was no way he had it there, they have not had any kennel cough at all in the kennels but there was a dog that had been in the same building with me dog that went home and then got kennel cough a day or so after he got home. Thankfully the illness was short lived or possibly he really did have it while in their care so it just appeared shorter to us.
All in all I would use them again in the future.

I have used montage for a couple of years now I like the staff the facility but one thing that I have an issue with is the owner of the business Steve. My wife called to make reservations for our dogs Steve answerd the phone was completely rude to my wife made her cry and we almost didn’t go there. I was in there the other night to pick my dog up Steve was at the counter I paid for the boarding. I got a feeling from Steve like he didn’t want to be there his attitude was horrible never smiled never said thank you never said thanks for your business not sure if I’ll go back there again. This man needs a serious attitude adjustment if the captain of the team doesn’t perform how are the players going to perform?

We boarded our 3 dogs for one night very recently. I was appalled when I picked them up the next day. All three of our dogs are under 25 lbs and are very affectionate, love people, and other dogs, and are accustomed to kennels. All three are crate trained. We have never had issues with the kennels in the many different cities that we’ve lived in with our dogs, across the country. This is the worse kennel I have ever seen. All three dogs had urine and feces on their paws and lower legs and smelled of such when we picked our pups up. We even paid for extra play time. I was completely surprised at the condition of our dogs and will never support Montage Kennels again. regardless of the kennels 37 years experience. I am looking into WA State licensing to see if I can file a formal complaint. Protect your pet and save them from this horrible kennel.

We boarded our Lab, Mona, in May. We are very happy with her stay. When we picked her up she was happy and clean. Mona would recommend Montage and use them again when in the Portland area. Mona is a country dog that is not accustom to the large open play area with many unfamiliar dogs just running around comingling. She is not a dog that spends her day at day care. So we were concerned that most of the boarding kennels in Portland are set up in that manner. Montage has large heated and AC runs. As well as outside grassed runs. She was happy and so were we.

Went out of town recently for about a week and needed place to board my dogs. Decided to give this place a try since it was closest to home.
Boarded the dogs for about a week and paid around $ 250 which included a large suite that both dogs shared and daily activity time for both dogs.
Dropped off the dogs after 12 and was able to pick them up around 8 on the day of my return.
The place seemed well kept and clean. The gal behind the counter was able to give us a tour of the location before we boarded the dogs so we could get an idea of the living conditions they’ll be in.
My only complaint was when I picked up my dogs, I noticed the side of his faced was scratched up a little bit, I’m guessing from rubbing his face against the floor. Not a big deal, but wish there staff would have noticed to help prevent the dog from scratching up his face. No biggie and should heal in a week or so.
Food was not provided, you have to bring your own food which was fine because my dogs are on specialize food. Was also able to leave them with their own toys and bedding so they would feel more at home.
Would board my dogs again here if needed.

When a business has been successful for (at least!) the 41 years we have lived here and patronized them, you know they are doing something right. We moved to Clark County in 1972, and Montage was already in business. We had two Labs at the time who always stayed here when we traveled. Through the years, we used them for all of our many other pets, all dogs, and every animal we have dropped off literally runs with tail wagging, as though they are about to have the most fabulous sleep-​over of all time! We trust everyone on the staff at Montage completely. One time my husband was in Africa and I was out of town at a wedding. Our son’s dog, whom we were caring for during his graduate school years, was staying at Montage. He became ill, and begn to pass blood in his urine. Apparently, he was refusing to void in his cement kennel space. Montage did not wait around trying to reach one of us, although they tried. They contacted our vet immediately, picked up his prescription, began medication, and when I finally returned their call, he was already on the mend. Together, we realized the dog would need to have time outside each day, so we arranged that for a small fee, and he recovered quickly and completely! I was so pleased that they knew just what to do, and didn’t worry about who would be paying the bill or about getting personal permission to treat our son’s beloved pet. We now have TWO dogs, and since we are retired, we travel often and far, sometimes for a month or 6 weeks at a time. Although we miss our pets when we are away, we never worry about them at all. They are happy to stay and happy to see us when we return. All feeding and care instructions are followed to the letter, and we travel without tension! I highly recommend Montage. The facility sparkles, and everyone is very friendly. Billing is clear and detailed, and most importantly, our dogs are cared for lovingly and professionally. I don’t know what we will do if the owners ever decide to retire!

We love this kennel! We had two of our cats stay there for over a month when we first moved here and our dog stays an average of once or more a month. The are always very nice — no matter who you deal with and I can tell that they treat the animals very well. Our dog jumps right out of the car when we arrive and smells WONDERFUL after his bath when we pick him up. The online reservation system is very convienent and has never let us down. Since we live within 2 blocks of the kennel I can say I’ve never seen or heard anything that would concern me at all. Yes, its expensive, about 25 dollars a day including basic boarding and playtime 1X a day for our 60lb mutt but its worth it to know he is being well taken care of! Would recommend this place every time!
