Been at the Vancouver branch 4 times and always had great service, good food, and superior IPAs. Went today only to find a sign on the door saying it had been sold to a microbrewery and would be renovated and open soon. All gift cards accepted at their original Battleground site. Bummer.

The drink was good, fairly strong, but not too strong for me. I got the fondue, which was served to me cold. Not good. It was a great size for a happy hour deal, perfect for two, it would have been fantastic if it was even remotely warm. Garlic fries were amazing though.
They also had some dude singing in the bar, in my opinion, is way too small of a space for that and it was way too loud. I’m young and enjoy live music, but this was too much.

Excellent food, fantastic service, awesome atmosphere. This place does it right, it’s just a few blocks from all downtown Vancouver has to offer, such as the Saturday Market, and local breweries. Worth the bill folks, check them out.

Disappointing. We had made the Rum Bar a weekly hangout. The atmosphere was fun and the food was reasonable for the price.
However, last night will most likely be my last visit. They were moderately busy and had a couple of large parties. We sat down and were given happy hour menus. About 10 minutes later, the bar tender came over and tossed a couple of dinner menus on our table. We asked if we could order a couple of drinks. He said he had several people in front of us and we would have to wait for another server to take our order?
My friend said to me, «wow, what would the owner think of his bartender?» I said I thought it was the owner. Yep, I was right! She asked our server who came several minutes later and she confirmed that was the owner!!!
Ok, we all have bad days… but really, we felt marginalized. The server did her best to make up for his shortcomings but it was obvious she was overwhelmed with her work. Did I say the restaurant was only about ¾ full.
If that was not enough, one of his employees fell right in front of the owner. The owner quickly walked over and tried to lift him up… did not ask if he was ok before trying. The employee put his hands up and said give me a moment. The owner walked away shaking his head.
Later, we asked the owner if his employee was ok. He rolled his eyes and said…“he didn’t want my help so who knows. My chef is in the back, he will check on him.” Interesting since we never saw him go back to have a conversation with his chef.
Kudos to the wait staff, but I think we will send our hard earned $$ another way. You go to a restaurant to have fun and reduce stress… that did not happen. I am sorry I don’t do arrogance very well.

Walked in.
3 adults 2 kids. Got seated after about 3 minutes. Waited 10+ minutes with no acknowledgement of any kind from anyone.
Walked out.
Won’t be back.

This place is «THE PLACE». The service is great the food is better and the atmosphere is awesome! The jerk chicken tacos are my favorite! The pineapple salsa on top brings it all together. Just tried the pizza and it’s already a family favorite. Can’t say enough about the staff.

Tonight was the straw that has broken the camel’s back for this place
The first time I went to this establishment it was a wonderful experience, great drinks, live music, all the makings of a good night out. However something has shifted at Rum Bar and every time I go now the experience is worse and worse. Let me take you on the adventure that was my night.
6:05 Arrive at Rum Bar to meet up for a friends birthday gathering. Place is about ¹⁄₃^rd full.
6:15 order a delicious Mac and Jack’s African amber and a savory BBQ ranch turkey wrap.
6:20 rest of the group shows up and orders food.
6:30 everyone gets their drink. Mine is no where to be found.
6:45 everyone now has food and some have a second drink. I have nothing.
6:50 «Um excuse me» I ask with a smile on my face understanding that I must have gotten lost in our party of 10s orders «I have yet to get my food or drink. I had the Mac and Jacks and turkey BBQ wrap.»
waitress takes out little black book and flips through pages. «Oh!» she says surprised «I will take care of that.»
7:15 My Mac and Jacks is delivered in a 14oz plastic cup. It is room temperature. «Sorry we are actually out of glass right now.» She quickly scampers away
7:45 Wrap arrives with a steaming hot pile of fresh cooked fries. «Thank you!» I genuinely smile at her remembering my own days as wait staff. «I will compensate your whole meal. I am so sorry this took so long.» she replies. The wrap is excellent and only brought down by my plastic cup beer.
8:30 Checks arrive. One is placed in front of me. I open it to see that I have been charged full price for everything. «Excuse me. I believe you said you would compensate me for the massive delay in my meal.» «Oh! I’m sorry yeah I will do that.»
8:40 waitress returns with my check. «The manager has taken 50% off your wrap.» She gathers the rest of the checks and hurrys away.
8:55 «Excuse me he was promised a free meal because it was an hour and a half late» my girlfriend chimes in to a new waitress who has come to assist our original waitress. «I see»
9:10 Final check arrives still charging me full price for a beer that came in a plastic cup.
Needless to say I don’t think I will be attending Rum Bar anytime soon.

Food was GREAT, drinks were VILE. Avoid the bar, my party of 6 all got different alcoholic beverages and they all tastes like medicine or mouthwash.

What an all-​round fantastic bar!
Food: Great vegan options! My favourite is the Jerk Bowl, which is basically a rice bowl with roasted vegetables and some delicious spices. It’s tangy and savoury and just perfect!
Dessert: I had their chocolate lava cake on my birthday, and couldn’t have asked for anything more decadent than that.
But the best part? Their karaōke! I usually come here with my running buddies (from the awesome Vancouver Run, Grub and Chug club) on Thursdays after a 5K run, and we have a blast singing all kinds of songs — classic rock, pop, jazz, you name it.
Great place to go to with family, friends, or just by yourself, for food, dessert, drinks and/​or some good singing. Highly recommend :)

We stopped by last weekend and had the worst service. We ordered drinks only and they took 45 minutes and when we got them they were completely wrong. The waitress assured me it was correct so I took it up to the bartender and she confirmed what I had thought. I paid $ 12 for a speciality drink and was delivered thier standard $ 4 margarita. Because of our size there was a 18% gratuity so I guess the waitress thought she could mentally check out and give us terrible service because her tip was already taken care of. Our group had planned to stay there and order several drinks but that atrocious service nipped that in the bud. I will NEVER go back and have informed all I know of this unbelievably terrible experience. It then took over 20 minutes for one person in our group to get their change and they paid cash. I will be surprised if this place is open much longer.

We came here with a group to get some drinks before a movie, it took over an hour to receive the drinks alone. And even then, two of our party had to just cancel the order at the hour mark, for fear of missing the movie.
Over an hour, we tell them we need to check out and pay, because we can see how slow the service is. It took an additional 20 minutes for them to break a 50 dollar bill for change, because they said they didn’t have enough in the registers.
At this point, we did lose our patients. I could not believe they wouldn’t just returned the $ 50 bill, and use our credit card instead. They said for their own bookkeeping purposes that was impossible. We are more than disgusted with a service we received, the one bartender was very nice and she did try to make it up to us, but when it comes down to it there are many places to get food and drinks, what sets a place apart is service.

Yep I am a fan! Once again we went restaurant hunting in our city of Vancouver WA on Unilocal.My wife picked out South Pacific Rum Bar and Grill. We waked in and like the South Pacific décor, found it clean and comfortable. I had the littles with me so I did not hit up the bar but noticed that it was very comfortable and inviting. My wife and I got a booth and the waiter brought a great little package of goodies for my daughter that kept her amused by making a pirate hat and deciding what to get off of the many choices from the kids menu.
The kids meals are a bit high for me but only because I have three girls and it can add up. At 6.95 it is not too unreasonable.
Now let’s get down to the food! I ordered off of the always happy hour menu and got the BACON WRAPPED PRAWNS, ohhhhhhhh I could have ate 20 of those wonderful mouth watering treats. The sauce was fantastic and I was sad to pop the last one in my mouth. Doubly sad that I gave one up to my wonderful wife. :) I also ordered the happy hour caesar salad with blacked chicken. All I can say is, «Get this»! Grilled stock of lettuce, blacken chicken and a dressing that was perfect.
My favorite thing about this place is that they are very kid friendly, gluten free friendly, carb free friendly, vegan friendly and if you are non of these very normal friendly. Let the waiter know what you want and they will prepare it your way.
Great and friendly staff.
Will I recommend? Yes
Will I come back? Yes, if nothing else, for the bacon wrapped prawns

On our visit we ordered the taco trio, sxsw pizza, nachos, bacon wrapped prawns and beer battered fries.
All were very decent with the tacos being the best. Well prepared and very fresh tasting. I’m kinda craving more of them writing this and they would be the one thing I’d order for sure on my next visit. The fries were my least favorite but still pretty good. Hot and fresh.
I liked the big beer chalkboard with info on alchol content and bitterness units. There is a nice selection of beer on tap. The service was great. Friendly, accurate and fast. The place is sparkling clean and comfortable.
The food is a good value for the price. If I lived close to downtown Vancouver I could see this being a regular hangout.

I had never been here before, but we were invited for a party and had bought a Unilocal deal to lessen the cost of food and after ordering we were amazed at the food!!! Delicious!!! I especially loved the fondue!!! I will cross the bridge to come here again!

Just seem like a bunch of frostbitten frozen food deep-​fried.
They did have a cool Pirates hat with decorations for my daughter to make while we waited on our food so that was cool.

South Pacific is a nice addition to the downtown Vancouver area. Both times I have been to this location the food has been good and the service has been excellent.
I have a friend who is a diehard for their SXSW pizza so we usually share a few slices of that. On the last visit we tried the coconut shrimp and they were unmemorable at best, so pizza is really the safest bet. They also usually have great drink specials. The last time we stopped in they had a $ 3 rum punch special. Normally I would take a hard pass on anything called rum punch but they turned out pretty decent.
Food is about a 3 but the service had always been great at this location so it really pushes it to a 4.

Really love this place! I’ve been here 4 – 5 times since discovering it a few months back.
Their tacos are amazing! My favorites are the jerk chicken tacos and the fish tacos. I need to venture out and try some of their other menu items, but because the tacos are soooo good I usually order them. I have tried their wings which were great (not sure why they took them off the menu) and their SXSW pizza was really good.
They have a number of gluten free options like gluten free buns and gluten free pizza crusts which is important to my wife.
They also have an all day happy hour where they basically chose a few options each day (cocktail, beer, food item) that are on happy hour for that day. I’ve tried a number of new and delicious cocktails because they were on happy hour for $ 3.50.
The environment and menu ate both a little eclectic with a Caribbean/​Hawaiian flare. They also play sports and some UFC’s on the big screens which is nice.

I don’t know how to feel. My mom loves the location in Battle Ground which I’d never been to, but I finally caved after all of her raving and we went to the downtown Vancouver location. I felt pretty underwhelmed by the whole thing.
The service was very pleasant and nice. Though, it was pretty empty for a Friday night at a restaurant/​bar which was a bit odd. The steamers were meh, they were extremely booze-​y tasting and I just didn’t dig it. They also give you less steamers at this location than the BG location, according to my mom. The caesar salad was pretty decent though and they grilled it which was kind of unique and cool.
Maybe if I tried a burger or something? I’ll probably come back here eventually and give something else a try to give the place a fair chance.

Went back again this past weekend and had the opportunity to try their burgers.
ABSOLUTELY one of the BEST burgers I have had in YEARS!
I got the «Traditional» burger and my wife got what I think was called the «Cali Burger»…It had Avocado and some special dressing of some sort on it. She said that hers was excellent as well.
The burgers were cooked just right and the ingredients of the burger, including the Brioche bun, were all fresh of of top quality.
Even the salad dressing on my side-​salad was delicious (I asked the server if it was made in-​house and she said that yes it was).
We look forward to going back again and trying something new from the menu. So far they are batting a thousand as far as we are concerned.
