I was desperate. I’d had a sudden surge of hunger and was out running errands. This was in my path and I thought I would drop in and get a simple burrito. Large enough to kill the pangs, small enough to avoid eating any more of the dreaded Taco Bell food than I had to. I’m not a frequenter of this chain — I’ll grab the occasional crisp taco once a year because I’ll get a craving but it’s just a throwback from my youth when(a) I actually remember it tasting good and(b) I just didn’t know better. If I have an upset stomach and have to eat, a bean and cheese burrito might be handy to soothe my stomach. On this occasion, I tried the Beefy Frito Burrito. It was on the dollar menu and I can’t resist combinations of mushy and crispy food. It was described to me as a burrito with beef, cheese, fritos and rice. I added sour cream when I ordered. Slight detour,(Saturday around 200pm visit) the restaurant was just trashed — filthy tables and trash on the floor. Not pleasant to spend any time in. and time I spent. I was probably there a good ten minutes waiting on my order. I’d noticed the drive-through lane was long so I opted to go inside thinking it would be quicker. It was not. Don’t make the same mistake I did! The drive-through lane was cleared at least twice before I got my food inside. It was as busy inside with perhaps five people in front of me but it seems they can’t have the backup of the drive-through lane and serve those customers first. Bad form, that. If you can’t handle the capacity, get a new location or more employees. Back to the, ahem, food. The cheese appeared to be a cheese sauce. Had I known that, I would have changed my order. It gave it that Nacho Cheese Dorito flavor; a flavor from my youth that I CAN resist. The rice was abundant but overpowered any hint of beef that might have been in the burrito. The best that can be said was that it was perfectly sized, cheap, and hot. It served the purpose but the experience overall was just bad. I will say that the poor, lone cashier was very friendly and kept a smile on his face the whole time. The register receipt shows him as Kevin V. and if you are the type to fill out surveys or sends comments to Corporate, do give him merit points for a job well done. I can’t imagine he has an easy job; I saw a lot of disgruntled faces.

The girls during the day are rude and always rushing me, but the guys late at night are super nice!

How does that saying go … I know taco bell isn’t real Mexican food, but I’m broke and I like tacos? Pretty much what you get. The restaurant is dirty, sticky tables and food on the floor. Messy drink stations. Just ew. I’ll take my taco to go.

I’m not one to even post reviews on here but I just thought I would say, I just had some of the best Taco Bell ever. I use to work for the company at a store in another state. The food we provided was good but this location was awesome. He was really warm when I was eating it and very tasty and up to Taco Bell food standards. Great location!!!

taco bell, sadly, is one of the very few fast food joints where someone who doesn’t eat meat can get a decent(yeah, yeah, i know…) meal. i have tried this particular TB(hmmm…) a number of times and nearly every time, i am so very sorry i gave them any of my money. and it has nothing to do with the general taco bell fare. i know what it is and i know not to set the bar too high. but even by that low bar, this TB disappoints time and time again. no flavor, no napkins, cold food, creepy employees(some, not all…). i think this location must lead them to believe that most customers are just going to hop on the freeway, never to be seen or heard from again. and maybe they are right. but some of us actually live in the area. personally, i am d.o.n.e. with this particular taco bell. i will sit in the long line at the bell on 117th and 65th and tell myself over and over, ‘it beats eating from the one near the mall’.
