Vashon Ace Hardware is a family business that was opened by Al and Laura Snyder in October of 1977. This family-​owned hardware store from day one has revolved around taking care of our neighbors and customers on Vashon Island. We understand that people make choices in where they shop and if we treat them the way we want to be treated, we will have life-​long customers.

In early 1990, we only had 2 feet within our store dedicated to organic products. Today, we have over 80 feet of environmentally-​friendly products. These products range from fertilizers and organically based weed killers, to cleaning products to LED lighting to zero VOC paint; they all help lower our carbon footprint.

We are very proud that a local consumer group named us as the 2^nd best hardware store in the entire Puget Sound Region! Our staff makes us what we are — a vibrant part of our Vashon community. Our employees are dedicated to taking care of each and every one of the customers who come in our front door. We are happy to help everyone in a positive fashion with pricing that is competitive.

Being part of the Vashon community means that we are active in the community. We are involved with lots of activities — from Directing the Bell Choir at one of our local churches to being in bands that play at community events to being the play-​by-​play comentators for Vashon High School sporting events on the Voice of Vashon.

History

Established in 1977.

In October 1977 long time islanders Al and Laura Snyder opened Vashon Ace Hardware. The original store encompassed about 4,000 square feet of the space within the current building. Over the years additions and remodels have increased the size of the store to the current space of approximately 10,000 square feet. The Ace Hardware Service Center was purchased in 1996 and it adds another 4,000 square feet of Outdoor Power Equipment and Rental items.

In October of 2001 Doug Snyder and John Yates purchased the business from AI and Laura.

Manager

Kevin is the proud manager of Vashon Ace Hardware. He loves coming into the store every day and enjoys the amazing owners and employees of Vashon Ace Hardware. He is involved in the Vashon community and lends his voice as a commentator on the Voice of Vashon, giving the play-​by-​play during Vashon High School sporting events.
