Fringe – Venice

Saw Jevonne (pronounced Chevonne) today for a blonde upgrade! She’s fantastic! I’ve been doing bare minimum partial foils and too much toner for the past year that left my hair flat in color and grown out roots especially in back. We agreed on it needing more translucency and dimension, so she did a full foil and very subtle toner. She was super fast (I have tons of long hair) lovely to talk to and even gave me a killer head massage. I am in the industry and am super picky about blonde, she nailed it! My locks look healthy, and the perfect mix of ash and golden beige. The salon is cute and cozy, they do 20% off your first service which is awesome! I’ll be back and recommending Jevonne to my fellow blondes.

This review is way overdue. I have been going to Hil Moyers for cuts, coloring, and styling for over ten years and have always been extremely happy with the results. Not only is she highly skilled, she listens and understands the issues I have with my hair. She figures out ways to get the look I want in spite of my hair issues. For example, I have natural red undertones that I hate. I’ve had «professionals» argue that they don’t see it. But Hil gets it! Like a chemist, she comes up with the perfect mixture and then, like and artist, she applies it to the right areas in my hair. I have gotten so many compliments on my hair, in person and from people who see my picture on Facebook.
Another admirable quality about Hil (that is beneficial to all of her clients) is that she keeps up with new trends and is constantly learning about new products and styles.
I’ve lived in other states for long stretches of time, where I’ve tried other stylists and have been really sad with the results. I’m at the point where I now wait until I return to Los Angeles to go back to Hil in order to save myself the agony of another bad hair experience.

So originally I had made a 4:30 appointment at Fringe Santa Monica, arrived and walked up to the door literally at 4:35 and it was closed! I guess whoever was going to work on me was in a hurry to leave with no thought to make a courtesy call or honor the 10 – 15 min. grace period as most shops do. As a first time client I found this very unprofessional and didn’t even think about rescheduling there.
Fortunately, I called Fringe on Abbot Kinney right away and explained the situation in which they honored the Unilocal deal and I was able to make a same day appointment with ease. Thanks to the entire team at Fringe on Abbot for saving me! You guys not only handled my frustration gracefully and professionally, but Kelly left me with an amazing haircut that I am absolutely happy with!

Love Jevonne! I was really nervous about switching stylist as well as cutting my hair a short length. However Jevonne really listened to what I wanted and gave me the confidence I needed. I am so satisfied with my hair cut/​color. The salon is super clean and chic with a great staff. I have recommended her to my friends and family as well as have received so many compliments on my hair!

I cannot say enough about Kelly Keegan. I feel so fortunate to have found her. I’ve been dying my hair for years now and I’ve never been happier with how my hair looks. I’ve been going to her for over a year now and she has colored, highlighted, and cut my hair. I’m a natural brunette but people are very surprised to hear that. She makes the blonde look very natural. Every time, she takes her time and attends to precision. She’s also one of the sweetest people! I highly recommend going to this salon and asking for Kelly, you will not regret it!

Jevonne is the best for blonds! Not only did she make my full highlights look amazing, she was also quick. Not a ton of time wasted which I appreciate. She’s a sweet bubbly person that I will go back to again and again.

I’ve been getting them for close to 20 years and it’s not easy to find someone who knows what they’re doing — most of the time I end up too blonde, or too yellow, or with poorly blended highlights, or highlights that don’t get close enough to the root… I am new in town and can’t believe I found someone this amazing on my first shot. My highlights are masterfully blended and I think this may be the best colour job I’ve ever had. They also give you %20 off your first time so that was pretty sweet .
I couldn’t give Jevonne a higher recommendation. Especially if you’re rocking any shade of blonde :)

I highly recommend stylist Tree M. for your next visit. Creative, artistic, witty sense of humor… always puts the customer at ease by listening to their concerns and providing guidance with hairstyle decisions. At the top of her industry and able to apply specialized techniques for all ages and gender. Thick hair can be hard to manage, but Tree is the master of the layered razor cut. I have been seeing her for over nearly five years and she never disappoints.

If you’re looking for an amazing salon and hair experience, come to Fringe and see Jevonne! Jevonne gave me a full highlight and cut over the weekend and I am such a happy customer! In the past (especially in LA) I’ve felt like the stylist wasn’t really listening or paying attention when I explained the blonde or highlight I was looking for.
Jevonne started by sitting down with me and asking a range of questions. Then, when I mentioned I had photos of the color I wanted on my phone– her eyes lit up! We went through the pictures (I had the type of blonde I wanted/​did not want) and she explained each in detail and how they were different.
When she was finished, I liked mine even more than the pictures I brought. Thank you so much to Jevonne, you are amazing and so kind!

I moved from the Bay Area in November and instantly had to find a new stylist to color and cut my hair. After doing some research I found Fringe and to my luck Tree had an open appointment! I have been going once a month to see Tree and I love the atmosphere at Fringe and Tree’s wonderful personality. I instantly felt comfortable with Tree and she does a fantastic job on my hair. I highly recommend Fringe and Tree!

Having just given birth to my first baby girl, I was in desperate need of a haircut and some pampering when I got a couple of hours to myself on a Sunday (after almost 4 weeks). I called to make an appointment and Cody, the receptionist, was super accommodating and helpful. He set up my appointment with Kelly K. assuring me I wouldn’t be disappointed and he was absolutely right! One of the best haircuts I have had in the last years and an overall soothing experience to recharge my batteries. Thank you Kelly K & Cody for making my Sunday!

Stop in at fringe and see Evalyn! Came in today as a walk in and got my hair styled for date night. Luckily there was no wait and I was in and out in no time. She’s a sweetheart and will def come back and bring my bf to have her do his next cut.

I’ve been going to Kelly Ansari for over 4 years. Let me tell you, she is my favorite stylist ever. I’ve been to my fair share of salons/​stylists and unlike many of them, she actually listens to you and takes the time to make sure she understands what you want. She really understands blonde highlights too. Kelly has an awesome personality to boot– I look forward to every visit, because I know we will have hilarious conversations from the moment I sit down in the chair… Not to mention, I leave the salon with a kickass haircut and highlights. Super friendly, laid back and awesome sense of humor! I almost want to keep her as my little secret…

Let me preface this by saying my best friend is a hair stylist and a very talented one at that! However, she lives in FL, so it was time for me to be a bit more realistic and find a local salon and hairstylist. OH MY HAVE I FOUND HER!!! Tree at Fringe is absolutely amazing! I’ve been seeing her for a year and a half now and she never disappoints with my cut or my color. She has perfected the look I want (natural highlights) and has never taken unnecessary length off of my hair (every girls worst nightmare, when I say I want a trim– I mean a trim!). Besides her hair abilities she is such a special spirit! I love our time together and she remember details about my life even if it’s been a few months!
The salon itself is small and intimate with a fantastic «hipstereque» feel. They have always been great with scheduling and phone call reminder appointments. It is a warm, welcoming place. (And clean of course!) I highly recommend Tree and Fringe!

I’ve been coming here for the past couple years. The staff is very friendly and professional. I get my hair cut with Tree, I found her after seeing so many positive reviews. I was not disappointed and she is by far one of the best! Highly recommended if your looking for a great cut.

I’m always extremely apprehensive when getting my hair done, especially in a town like Los Angeles (I understand the town part is a slight exaggeration lol my apologies). There’s so much gossip and talk about where is the «hottest» place to get your hair done at, by nature of assimilating more easily into the tinseltown culture, and it can not only be very distracting but also very stressful.
Fringe doesn’t give off those vibes whatsoever.
I came into Fringe off Abbot Kinney over in Venice and I had the opportunity to be helped by a woman named Kelly Keegan. First off, let me say that her positive energy is the first thing I felt, way before the sweltering heat made by the hair dryers (they normally scare me, don’t ask)! She was very kind, very sweet and her most endearing feature I feel is her ability to effectively listen and probe over with me and my concerns. I mentioned to her those concerns but my willingness also to try something new and have the confidence to see it through. She firmly agreed and gave me that assurance without hesitation.
I wish I could post a photo of what she did for me, but it was excellent! Its been two days now and I have been given several compliments from friends and strangers alike, I’m exuding much more confidence as a result of this change and I’m the more the better for having been helped by Kelly. That’s what I think a hair salon should entail: The effectiveness of a great cut but also giving that friendly tug or push as well to show your confidence with whichever style you choose to go with. These folks at Fringe know how to do that, and Kelly… thank you for helping me become more confident with something that is definitely «Me».

When I first moved to LA, about 2 years ago, I started going to Tree on my boyfriend’s recommendation. Let me just say that she is one of the best stylists I’ve ever had. From the minute you sit in her chair to the moment you leave the salon, she has you feeling at ease. She gives excellent consultations and really takes the time to get to know what you’re looking for. She cuts and colors my hair, and cuts my boyfriend’s, and we both receive compliments on our hair all the time. (Who doesn’t love that.)
If I had to give one critique to Fringe it would be that I had a couple of strange experiences on the phone with them. When I called to make my most recent appointment, someone answered the phone and started having a conversation with me about what I needed, but then abruptly stopped talking to me and I could hear him checking out a customer. I thought it was strange that he didn’t just put me on hold. I also received a phone call from the salon that seemed like a pocket dial; when I answered the phone I just heard the salon’s background noise. All things considered, no big deal. Still love the place. :)

Been going to this salon prior to it changing hands when it was Ohm. Seems to be functioning better now & completely organized. Reception has always been cool n friendly along w most stylists there. Parking in back is a bonus. Cool little spot on Abbot Kinney.
Tree is the best hairdresser hands down and I’m really really picky w my haircuts. It has taken me a long time to settle on a stylist in LA that is less than $ 400 for a cut and dies a really awesome job. Someone who, if I asked, could do anything w my hair. She gives me great functional cuts that fit my frame & face perfect (I’m very low maintenance on hair styling). Revived my dry horrible damaged hair and all these pieces I burnt off. I’ve had hairdressers that take a really long time to tidy up my cut, but she’s such an expert the cut is done before I know it. You might not be able to tell from my hair specifically as its not super stylish, but i study other girls hair and hair cuts and how stylists work, and I can tell that Tree has got the skills as some of the best out there. Read her reviews. I’m sure they all say the same thing. Unfortunately for her, she gives such good cuts they last me forever. She just so happens to be super cool, beautiful and easy to talk to too as well. Rad chick all around and amazing stylist. Timely and always fits me in even though she’s really busy and popular. I don’t write many reviews on Unilocal,but in this case I feel it’s necessary to share. This review is mostly for my girl Tree, but also for the calming and beautiful atmosphere that is Fringe Salon.
I’ve been seeing Tree for my hair almost as long as I’ve been in LA (five years), and I absolutely won’t trust my hair to anyone else. I cannot tell you how amazing I feel every time I see her, and I feel beautiful with a head of healthy hair. Tree has taken my hair from a VERY short pixie cut to helping me grow it out past my shoulders, and just recently gave me the most adorable bob. She’s also a color specialist, and while I’ve stuck to various shades of my natural red, one day I’ll ask her to make it platinum blonde, and I know she can do it. When you keep getting compliments on your hair, you know your stylist has done a great job. Tree also has the kindest heart I know, and it’s impossible not to feel good around her.
The salon is quiet and peaceful, and you won’t find stylists talking bad about other people, which I’ve encountered in other salons. Everyone is very friendly and I love coming back here.

I’ve been going to Tree for my hair for about 7 years now. I stick with her because I’ve had enough stylists to tell you, she’s really the GOLD standard in hair stylists!!!
I first met Tree when my hair had needed a serious intervention. My hair was broken, fried, over processed and needed serious help!!! I believe I found her off Unilocal.My hair was long, but so damaged, I don’t think you could save it, and I really hate short hair on me.
So when I went to Tree for the first time, I told her, «I know you’re going to have to cut off a lot of my hair to get it healthy again, but please don’t cut it too much or I will cry»!! And I meant it! Tree was an angel and a miracle worker the way she went about it. She was a very good listener and very accommodating with me. We first started with just cut and color. She was very mindful about cutting my hair so she didn’t cut too much off. She would always show me first, how much she was going to cut BEFORE she actually cut it (and she still does). I really appreciate that more than she knows; because most stylists just start cutting and take off as much as «they» want to take off. She’s NEVER done that with me to this day.
After seeing Tree for a few sessions, I was really pleased with how cute she made my hair look even though we had to cut it shorter than I like. She’s really good with the cut. She always makes my ends look really crisp and healthy. And she’s great with color as well. She really makes it gold, shiny, healthy, with a lot of depth. But she suggested I try getting a Brazilian Blowout so I could really achieve the look I was going for. At first I hesitated because it’s kind of expensive, but I have to say it was the best «hair decision» I’ve ever made.
I’ve always struggled trying to make my frizzy, unruly hair straight and smooth. But Tree has done a phenomenal job with my hair from day one. She initially, saved and revived my hair back to a healthy, gorgeous state. But over time, she has gotten my hair to look long, luscious, thick, shiny, gorgeous hair that could almost be mistaken for really good hair extensions. But my hair is all my own! I get more compliments on my hair now than I ever have in my life. When people ask me who did my hair (because they always do) I always refer them to the very best in the business Tree Marqua-​Daley!!!

Walked in the door last night to check the place out, and they hooked me up with the wonderful Jevonne!!! Specializes in blondes and I am in LOVE with the way my hair looks! Definitely recommend the salon & Jevonne.

Jevonne is the master of hair color. I recently moved to the west side and had to find a new hair dresser. Based on a reference of someone I trust, I went to Fringe. The atmosphere is true Abbott Kinney style — hip, upbeat and elite. Jevonne did an amazing job transforming my hair with a great amount of attention and expertise. Cody, her partner in crime, ensured I was comfortable every step of the way. If you are looking for a premier hair experience in LA, I definitely recommend this duo.

I have been a client of Linda’s for almost 7 years now, and I have followed her from the Fringe on Lincoln to The Cut on Ocean Park, and now to Fringe on Abbott Kinney. Linda is the best and she always makes an effort to squeeze me in when I just can’t wait another day to get my dumb gray hairs covered up.
The new space on AK is so cute and I was immediately handed a glass of wine, which is icing on the cake! The best part was when the cutest girl (I can’t remember her name, I’m sorry!!) came over and gave me the best, most relaxing hand massage. Go check out Fringe, you won’t be disappointed!

Kelly Keegan is the hair goddess of Venice Beach! I spent the day here (for the first time) getting my hair bleached and cut. The experience was magnificent. Upon entry, I was offered coffee, water, donuts, or anything else I needed. Kelly really made me feel at home and absolutely nailed my hair! She took her time, like every artist should do, and asked exactly what I wanted in a hair cut. My mind was blown with eh results. I 150% recommend this salon experience to anybody in LA area. Make the trip and ask for Kelly Keegan!

Kelly A. Is amazing. She’s the only person I let cut my fine hair. She cuts the hair of 10 friends of mine as well as my husband’s. She really listens to what you want, takes time to discuss before your wash, gives a nice scalp massage which is such a good way to relax and get pampered, and the haircut is perfect every time. We all love going to her. Cody, the receptionist is so sweet and helpful often calling again to help us find the best time. Sergio is new to me and is a bit spacey and makes it harder to make and confirm appointments. Overall, I love going to Fringe and will only let Kelly cut my hair. Thanks!!!

Tree is amazing! She was able to fit me in and give me beautiful cut and color (I posted a before and after photo). I’m a platinum blonde with very fine, processed hair. I had about 2 inches of dark roots and looked like a hobo. I really like to have my hair toned with pastels so Tree did a bleach and tone with a really pretty baby pink. She was very gentle with my hair and scalp. Then she cleaned up my hairdo and gave me a sleek, edgy bob. I felt like a whole new girl when I left, no longer a hobo! I’ve had so many compliments since!
Also, is such a cute little salon. The building is an old house and inside it’s adorable, all the stylists stations are vintage vanities with pretty mirrors. Everyone who works there is really sweet and friendly especially Tree and Sergio. They make you feel at home. I will definitely return!
AND on a side note, I recommend parking in the rear. If you choose to park on the street, read all the signs so you don’t get a ticket!

What can I say?! I really, really LOVE Fringe (formerly known as OHM Salon). Not only does it have an amazing location on Abbott Kinney — but from the moment you walk in, you feel relaxed and happy. The salon is in an adorable, converted bungalow — and has a super cute shabby-​chic aesthetic inside. For the past 2+ years, Sam has highlighted and cut my hair. She is so wonderful, so sweet and SO incredibly talented. She has a true eye for color, knows a ton about hair — and always does an amazing job! Also be on the look out for Cody, who gives a great hand massage… just because! If you’re looking for an adorable salon in the heart of Venice with top-​quality hair stylists — Fringe is for you! :)

This is the best salon experience I have ever had. From the minute I walked in to the time I left with a gorgeous cut and color by the amazing Kelly, it was nothing less than wonderful. The space itself is beautiful; like a cute, mystical little cabin in the woods. I think the space was once a house and that’s exactly what it feels like– homey. If you arrive early for your appointment, the pleasant and hospitable staff will offer you a seat in their back patio or front porch (swing bench included) and a beverage of your choice. Nothing but good vibes, smiles, and comfort here. If you are anything like me, there is a lot of anxiety that goes along with a salon trip. I haven’t been happy with my hair for years and just want it healthy again. My stylist, Kelly, was truly amazing. She listened to everything I said and made my hair look just how I was hoping. My hair looks and feels much healthier and shinier; her cut and color job was so good! She was also awesome to talk to made the my experience even better. They also use really great all natural products from brands like Aveda, which I love.
I recommend Fringe to everyone. Come here for your next salon trip! They are the best.

I am really disappointed and debated on writing this review because the girl that cut my hair was really nice but I’m just really not happy with my hair. I told her I just wanted a little trim, wanted my hair to still be long and have long layers.
My hair is so much shorter, the shortest it’s been in years, and I hate it! There’s really no layers, just cut one length and is far from what I asked for. They also quoted us half off which is $ 37 but after charged us $ 45 and said their website hasn’t been updated and who ever answered the phone gave us the wrong price.
Really wanted to like this place but this is truly the worst cut I’ve had in a long time. Last year had someone cut my hair elsewhere and it was uneven but at least it was long enough to fix and still look good.
We are celebrating our anniversary next weekend and I was looking forward to our night out but now that I hate my hair, I don’t feel like going out:(

This place used to be called Ohm so if you want to read more reviews about it search that name. Great salon, great hairstylists! I went in wanting to cut my hair to donate it to cancer and Tree made the whole process so easy. I’ve never went as short as I cut it today but Tree made me feel at ease. Her cutting skills are phenomenal and the way she layered my hair was so artistic. The prices here aren’t exaggerated like the rest of the salons in LA. The ambiance and atmosphere of the salon was beautiful! Definitely coming back.

It is a HUGE deal as a woman to find the perfect stylist. And I am pleased to say that I have found my person! Kelly Keegan is absolutely amazing! She has done my hair twice now and I will continue going back to her only.
As for the salon. It is adorable! They have some beautiful vintage type stations and a gorgeous zen garden feel in the back!
This new salon is definitely one to check out!
