So I’ve followed the guy who runs this Markie D’s around to a few places, in Santa Monica, Culver City, and now here. He makes my absolute favorite philly cheesesteak sandwich ever. I have dreams about this sandwich. I like mine with hot and sweet peppers and hot and sweet sauce and I’m good with Wiz or with Provalone.
I’m not a philly expert, but I know what I like and this sandwich is awesome, which is why, for many years now, we’ve kept tracking this guy down to eat his food.

Markie D’s is without a doubt the best place on the boardwalk. I know, I know, that’s not saying much. But this place can hold its own at any location, including South Philly. Get the cheesesteak with da whiz, extra peppers and mushrooms and prepare to master the «philadelphia lean,» — these baby’s are juicy and you want to bend your body forward to eat the sandwich. Markie is also a friendly and hardworking guy, we could use more like him in Venice.
