Jewel of a place. Hopefully they will sustain their quest for quality making the place a great dining experience at the Shore.

This place is always crowded even with their«cash only» policy so we expected to have a better experience, however we were sadly disappointed. i ordered soft shell crab and almost choked on it because the shell was not soft. We mentioned it to our waitress and she came back and told us that the chef said something like… yes we know, it’s late in the season and we will not serve it any more… can you believe it? I think it was around $ 34 for that and they served it knowing it could be unpalatable? Normally, I would have made an issue out of it but I don’t know what came over me that night… I just accepted the waitress’ response. The service was not great either… it was very difficult to get the waitress’ attention. Needless to say… we won’t be going back.

Awesome! Great food and service! Window seat so you’re in the air conditioning but still feel a part of the action outside.

We have been back twice since the bad experience and I wish I knew how to delete this review. Going tonight too. On our last two meals everything was perfect, the food, the service, the table, etc. looking forward to a great meal tonight. One glitch should not earn Sage a bad rep, it’s a great restaurant.

This place is amazing! There is something there for everyone. Had the short ribs and it was out if this world. The sauce sooooooo good. My husband had the ahi tuna that was delicious as well. Parents got the deboned chicken cooked under a brick, which was outstanding and the fish special which was full of flavor as well. I can’t remember the name of the appetizer we got, but it was the 2nd one down on the menu and was the eggplant with cheese and a marsala sauce. Byob is of course a plus. Can’t wait to go back!

When I called to make a reservation, I had mentioned 2 adults, 2 children. When I got there, the host walked us past the entrance and all I hear was«NO, NO, NO!» A lady manager or some one in charge pushed us out the door and told us we had to eat next door at their pizzeria. I was so embarrassed, I saw everyone in the restaurant looking up at me. Should have left at that moment, but I heard such great things about the restaurant that I thought maybe the food would be worth it. I do feel if you are expecting a certain ambience while dining, it’s hard to sit in a pizzeria when you’re paying the same price for an upper scale restaurant. The waiter was pleasant but we couldn’t get the attention needed when he had to go back and forth of the two restaurant. The worst part, a friend called me when she left the same restaurant the same night. Asking why I was kicked out of the restaurant. My money is no good here!

We hadn’t been to Sage for a while, so we decided to come back during AC Restaurant week. We were not disappointed. We were a party of 5 and came in for an early dinner. The restaurant filled quickly behind us. We ate off of the fixed menu and everyone found their meals delicious. The lemongrass mussels and clams are always a favorite. The pasta with lamb ragu was splendid and a table favorite. For dessert several of us tried the doughnuts made with ricotta cheese, again, delicious. BYOB is always a plus. I guess my only complaint would be that the lights were too low for most of our party. Nice to know we have a place like Sage in our area.

Excellent cuisine, excellent value, great service, BYOB. I have only been there twice, but it is now my new favorite restaurant. The menu is diverse, the preparation and presentation superb. Highly recommend a try. Only downside it is crowded during the summer months.

Lisa and crew catered an event at my workplace for around 160 people. Food was plentiful, and well prepared. Having been involved in many previous catered events, I was extremely impressed here. Very professional. All around excellent.

I came here for dinner and ordered artichoke hearts fried which very very good if you like fried food. The Mediterranean salad was yummy fresh seafood and basil with lime juice. Slow roasted short rib had very good flavor with buttery mashed potatoes. The scallops were normal size not jumbo cooked perfectly and fresh.

Eh. Nice atmosphere, crowd was lively and staff was very nice, despite being a little stressed. But the food lacked taste. Among the dishes was the edamame falafel, which probably could have been cooked through a little better. And the main course of linguini with shrimp, basil, and white beans was downright bland. Since nobody came around with fresh pepper, I actually went for the salt and pepper shakers on the table, which I almost never do and is rarely a good sign. I did like the BYOB aspect, which kept the price to $ 40 but I won’t return.

For an area not heavy on a restaurant scene this place fits the bill pretty well. As everyone says– the BYOB factor makes it great. Seafood is great for a seaside restaurant. Had some type of Italian cold seafood salad which was amazing. It took them 3 tries to get my yellowfin cooked to the right medium well-ness. But once they did, it was fantastic. Good atmosphere. Good service.

I very much enjoyed the scallops entrée at Sage. The scallops were nicely paired with chopped veggies and zucchini fries. Pro– BYOB. Con– Cash only.

I’m pretty sure everyone at our table of 11 was extremely satisfied with our dishes. The food was delicious! A bit pricey, and cash only is extremely annoying wherever you go these days. The fact that it is BYOB makes up for the cash only factor. Also, there is a liquor store on the block in case you forget or need more! :) The restaurant isn’t overly big, and is PACKED on a Saturday night. Our table had a 9:30 reservation and we weren’t eating until 10:30! We had a large party, but man this place is popular. They have a good amount of outdoor seating as well which is great on a nice evening. If the weather isn’t great, your wait time will be even longer. Our table ordered a variety of dishes from the calamari, a few salads(which are big portions!), scallops, veal, chicken & more. I personally had the chicken with prosciutto di parma in a marsala sauce which was delicious! The service was good, not GREAT. 9 out of 11 of our table got served near the same time and 2 were left waiting for 5 minutes which was a little annoying. The waiters were pretty good about filling up water and making sure everything was okay. I would definitely come back here(again with a reservation!!!)

I had a good time here Friday night with my dad, stepmom, brother, & sister-in-law. Vegan friendly & there was something for everyone. Loved the edamame falafel & the artichoke appetizers. Our server Lisa was amazing, she really went the extra mile to make sure I had a nice vegan meal. They let me invent my own pasta dish. It was good, but a little bland. Better when I added salt & fresh ground pepper, but when I ask to be loaded up with lots of garlic, I really mean it. Refilling of our water could have been a lot more timely, I had to ask more than once. Also, it was pretty loud inside, a bit of a struggle to have a conversation, but overall, good service, good food, and YAY for vegan friendliness.

Friendly waitress, tasty meal, and BYOB. The eggplant appetizer was delicious, as was the lamb and tuna special entrees. The goat cheese mashed potatoes were both interesting and quite tasty. Key lime pie was also quite good, and without green coloring. The service was slow, but was a welcome leisurely dinner without our baby. Water glass was kept full, and I did not feel neglected. Casual and quiet atmosphere, pleasant overall.

I was here with a friends family. It was the first time all of us were here. There were a lot of things order. The paste with Orriciecti(sp), sausage, and broccoli rabe was amazing. They make their own Sausage. I had the scallop dish and it was amazing as well. The tuna was good, and the steak was pretty amazing too. I don’t think anything on the menu was not worth it! Definitely worth going back for!

Oh how I have been longing for a top notch restaurant at the Jersey Shore(please make no correlations to the pathetic MTV show.) Each summer the wife and I will visit my parents at the Shore a handful of times, and we often will go out to eat one night during our visit. We are always amazed at the lack of choices… not because there isn’t a place to get a decent meal, but because there isn’t a place that makes you want to rush back to dine again. Meet Sage. Why this restaurant doesn’t have quadruple the reviews is a mystery. From what I hear, the place is always packed(as it was the night we dined) so reservations in the summer are a must. Call several weeks in advance to ensure you secure your ideal time. Sage is quite small, so the tables can tend to be cramped, but they do the best they can with what they have. The restaurant can also be a tad loud, but that didn’t bother me at all. The food, by far, makes up for any shortcomings the restaurant may have. Besides the food being impeccable, Sage is also a BYOB, which is always a huge plus in my book. The four of us dined at Sage during their busiest week of the summer… July 4th. We had 7:30pm reservations for Thursday evening and were seated about 10 minutes late. No big deal, although the waiting area is cramped. We started off with a bottle of Prosecco as we perused the menu. The menu has so many options to choose from, which are mainly Italian inspired, mixed in with a heavy influence of seafood dishes and specials. I split a beet salad with my mom that was spot on. The beets were mixed in with candied pecans, goat cheese, and mixed greens. The split portion was more than enough for an appetizer sized salad, and there was no additional charge for a split fee. My wife and father split an arugula salad that was very good as well. By the time appetizers were finished, we were finishing up our Prosecco and ready to uncork a bottle of Chimney Rock Cab, that Pappa Dukes brought as a surprise. I was at a deadlock between so many different entrée options, but decided on the seared tuna with Asian vegetables and rice. The three amigos all ordered the scallops that was accompanied with a flavor bomb mixture of risotto and vegetables(almost like a succotash.) We passed on dessert, but I cannot wait to come back to this BYOB to try all of the other selections that Sage’s menu has to offer. A truly divine meal that I would call a rare gem in the area. THEGOOD: BYOB, Excellent Food, Great Menu Options THEMEH: Service(not bad, but not memorable), Cramped Quarters, Noise Levels THEBAD: Street Parking

Lovely BYOB with outdoor seating. The waitstaff was very nice and accommodating for all of the disasters happening around them. First my friend spilled a full glass or water and we required a new table cloth, etc — but generally not that big of a deal. Then the lady at the table next to us completely falls out of her chair backwards and takes down the entire table behind her. Broken glasses, etc. A hot mess. They took it all in stride and didn’t even appear annoyed. The sun dried tomato oil and bread started the meal off right — and it continued from there. We had Caesar salads and an eggplant Marsala appetizer. Yum! Entrees were also great. I had spaghetti and crab, my husband had a creamy ravioli(Note — the cream sauce is HEAVY!). We really enjoyed our meal and would return.
