Advanced Auto Care & Smog

Given my extremely busy work schedule, it was great to contact Andre, after reading great reviews about the place! After a quick phone call with him I was able to take my car to his shop and have everything taken care of for a great price.
With excellent prices and friendly staff, I will definitely be giving them a call for all my car related issues!

FYI the «$ 10 for smog check» is 10 OFF. So $ 47. Still a good deal, but they could always phrase the deal more clearly because it looks like false advertising.

Great service! I swung by Christmas Eve morning for a smog check and Eddie the owner had let his guys go home already but was nice enough to do a smog check himself. He also gave me discount to boot (perhaps because I mentioned I found him on Unilocal?) I highly recommend Advanced Automotive!

In 2014, we brought our PT Cruiser to Advanced for a smog test and cert. We were impressed with Eddie’s customer service and knowledge. Eddie’s a former aerospace engineer, and it shows. Advanced is now where we bring our car for everything.

I got a smog check, oil change, brake inspection, front tires replaced and wheel alignment done on my car today. I appreciated that everything was efficient and straight forward. I did not feel like they were trying to up-​sell me at all and the prices were competitive.
They seemed pretty busy, but were able to get my car completed in a timely manner. Andre was very nice, both over the phone and in person, and made me feel comfortable taking my car to get serviced which is normally something I dread. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

Great place– friendly and fast. I just moved to Ventura from LA and was worried because I had always taken my car to the same smog place in Culver City and passed, but I passed here too. Even got a discount from the owner. Highly recommended!

I have been here several times, with several cars. My car has never failed a smog test here. The staff is very nice. Always in and out very quickly. They also sell an off name tire. I’ve seen them giving estimates on tires. They seem to be cheap, at least in price. I am quite picky on smog places. I used to drive 20 miles for a smog test. It’s nice to have this place closer to home. I’ve been there for at least 5 smogs now. Eddie will take care of you. You will never get the over-​sell here. It’s best to make an appointment, but he has helped me at the last minute too.

This business is top notch and I highly recommend this individual’s knowledge of smog testing, the fast service and superior customer service each and every time. You can trust this business 100% without a doubt!

Eddie was helpful and knowledgeable. I previously went to another smog center where the attendant only went as far as hooking up a cable to my car’s computer to read the error code p1456. She said this code usually comes up due to a faulty gas cap and advised me to buy one. Eddie knew the problem was more complicated so he hooked up the system to get a read from my car. Nothing came out of the reading because there was too much air circulating in my system and Eddie correctly diagnosed that my exhaust system needed patchwork.
When my car was tested it only took 20 minutes. On the same point, he’s great at keeping appointments on time. Thank you Eddie!

I’ve taken my car (s) here to get smog’d a couple times now. Service has been great. Made an appointment and they were ready to go when I got there. Very nice and polite. I was out of there in 20 minutes. Bonus: You can get a great burrito across the street at Johnny’s while you wait!

If you are looking for a smog check place with a fancy lobby, free coffee and a huge staff of incompetent morons who throw around a ton of jargon, then this is not the place for you. If however, you want a no nonsense smog check from someone who has a ton of knowledge about what they are doing, then I would definitely reccomend this place. I took my 1993 BMW into Advanced Smog after horrible experiences at two other smog places. The first place ran the enitrely wrong test, failed my vehicle and then refused to give me a refund when I confronted them about it. The second place wanted $ 200 just to tell me that the first place was a bunch of crooks. Thankfully I found Advanced Smog and my problems were solved. The proprietor ran the correct test the first time and I was in an out of the place in 10 minutes. He was upfront and helpful and I was extremely pleased to be treated like a human being. The place itself looks a little rough but that is of absolutely no concern to me if they get the job done right.
