CASHONLY! I come to this thrift store when I need something at a very low price. The quality of stuff here is often lower than at other nearby stores(more used/worn) but I’ve found stuff I wanted that cost as little as a quarter or $ 0.50! Small selection of furniture, some toys, some formal dresses and some household electronics. Mostly I come here for women’s clothes, kids clothes and linens. Staff has always been nice to me. PS there’s free parking in the lot behind this store. It’s a little confusing to find if you’re not familiar with downtown beyond the one main street but it’s there and free!

For the love of GOD will you PLEASE start accepting credit cards??? I’ve gotten some great deals here, but I never carry cash, so I have to shlep it two blocks to BofA. The last time I was on Main Street, I ended up skipping this store because they only take cash. It’s just too much of a hassle. Pity — they sometimes have some cool stuff, but not taking plastic is a deal breaker.

I dig this place. It’s pretty cheap and big. Nice employees. The only downside is that it’s cash only so come prepared.

Wide selection, decent staff, short hours. Always busy, especially on weekends. Prices a little higher than surrounding thrift stores and they are CASHONLY. This is a FOR profit business, so you’d think they would keep up the place, but it’s usually pretty dirty and falling apart. They need a dressing room and a deep cleaning/remodel badly.

I found the best gift for my CPA friend here. The selection is awesome.

This store has a good selection and fair prices. However. The store does not donate to child abuse and neglect prevention or assistance. When I was purchasing my items today I asked the cashier how they donated to the children and whether it was local. The cashier stated the owner picks up the clothes that haven’t been bought after awhile and ships them to Africa. That’s fine and all but not my idea of charity for child abuse prevention.

One my my favorite thrift stores. I’ll admit I really only come here for kids stuff and the occasional shirt or dress for myself, but I always leave happy. Sometimes things can be priced slightly higher then I’d like to pay, but I remind myself it’s always more than half off retail and the money goes to a good cause. Anyone that thinks this store sucks hasn’t been to the Santa Barbara thrift stores. Lol. We drive down about once a week, and in 2009(after loosing my job) I was able to supplament my income by buying items here, fixing/cleaning them up and reselling locally in SB for 3x the price.

I’ve been to over 100 thrift stores and this one is my last resort store. It ALWAYS smells of cigarette smoke because people just stand in the front & back of the store(probably in it) and smokes away. It is SO dirty & dusty and to top it off very overpriced. No one wants to pay $ 5 for a stain shirt or $ 3 for ripped pants. The clothes are color & style organized which helps in what your looking for. They really need to lower the prices & clean it up(you got old towels being donated, used those and dust something) They are not a charity store so money is for thier profit. And the manager lady plus 2 other younger girls who work there always seem to have an attitude. It used to be an ok store years ago but every year they are just going downhill.

HUGE store, lots of junk. After 10 years of coming here I don’t ever think I have bought anything. Lots of overprices outdated pieces, very little clothes worth picking through.

This is a regular stop when passing through town. There’s nothing particularly special about the store itself — but I do seem to consistently find at least one item worth buying(at a price I like) each time I have come.

You couldn’t tell by looking at me, but I’m anti-child abuse. Weird, I know. I’m not a very big fan of child neglect, either. Regular neglect, sure, but when you start neglecting an individual under the age of eighteen within my vicinity? That, I cannot hold to! The idea of the C.A.A.N. thrift store is thus appealing; proceeds go to child abuse charities*. That’s a five star idea, to be sure. The problem? You can’t base a business on an idea; to do so is bad business, and it’s a bad idea. The reality of the C.A.A.N. Thrift Store, in three easy-to-read points. 1. Everything is overpriced. Sure, buying a vase for $ 8.00 is cheaper than buying one for $ 15.00, EXCEPT when you take into account that the $ 8.00 vase is a trashy piece of junk that you will regret buying as soon as you get home. 2. My boyfriend’s mother pointed out that she never sees any of the things she donates in the store, which kind of leads us to believe that the nicer donations are perhaps being sold to antique dealers or whatnot, whilst the store itself is filled with trashy pieces of junk. If so, that is SO not cool. 3. I don’t think I’ve ever been compelled to actually buy anything here. Junk is junk is junk, regardless of where the proceeds go. Two stars. *NOT the charities that abuse children; the charities that try to stop the charities that abuse children. Sorry for the mix-up.

Oh, I guess it’s been renamed to feature both«abuse» and«neglect.» That’s retarded.

I haven’t seen any retards in here and children aren’t spotted there frequently either. What I do see in here is piss smelling winos that use this place as a closet and emo-kids in Def Leppard shirts with the sleeves cut off carrying Kelly’s coffee mugs and $ 2000 laptops complaining about how all the good stuff gets ganked by poor people. Oops…I guess I have seen some retards then…

Yes, the sign outside draws one up short. But whatever, the PC squad will wipe it out someday. This thrift, at peak hours, is a complete freakout. squadrons of shrieking kids, shopping seniors, hipsters, you name it. With the tape loop blaring the week’s tag discounts over the PA system and the packed(oh-so-packed) aisles and racks, it can overwhelm. But hang in there. I have found gold in the women’s clothing racks at stellar prices. They also annex a rack for unusual or vintage items that is always worth checking out(some longtime employee has a really good eye for this). This is the place I bought a perfect suede swing coat for 3 bucks(but that was the mid-80s – d’oh!) Vintage housewares(or what they consider«vintage») are overmarked(a pandemic in Ventura), but probably still cheap, if y’all are from the Big City, not from our un-PC, oddly wonderful little burg.
