DW’s Country Cafe

Found our new «going North» breakfast spot. Service was incredible and friendly. Very busy Sunday traffic. Food was excellent, best hash browns EVER. Exactly as asked. You will love it, we sure did. So from a couple of ‘fogies’, it is food and service like when we were young (remember the 50’s & 60’s).

Good food, friendly staff and quick seating time. Walked right in and sat down. Will return again.

This place has good and comforting food but they seriously need help with their waitressing staff. I’m pretty patient but my sister and I asked our waitress 5 different times for our drinks we ordered. We received our food and still no drinks and some items were missing. She was nice but kind of spacey and inattentive. I would come back again for the food but hopefully I don’t encounter the same problem.

I Sant here after reading the reviews on Unilocal.My daughter and í were so disappointed. The food was ok but the service was so slow and inattentive. The waiter was preoccupied with í don’t know what. Rushed to get our order but not to bring it. I will not be going there again. Oh and í almost choked when our Hill was over 40.00. Yikes.

I been a lifetime resident of Ventura County and have always seen DW’s café but never tried it. Today, I decided I wanted to meet up with my wife and kids to have some breakfast/​lunch. We entered the establishment we were not greeted for about five minutes and then finally we were seated towards the rear by the cooks window if thats what you call it. Our drinks orders were taken which all we ordered was just water for four people and we only got three I had to ask three times for a fourth water. While we waited for our waitress to come take our order I can here and see the waiters/waitress’s arguing with each other while food just sat under the food warmer. About 15 minutes passed before we were acknowledged by our waitressshe just popped her head in and said I’ll be right with you. In that time I can see the frustration amongst the staff and feel the bad vibe in the air. Maybe seven after our waitress initially popped her head in she came to take our order. We placed our order and I thought maybe they’re super busy thats whats taking so long. Nope, that wasn’t why, They were just running around and bickering about food orders because the food I initially saw was still sitting there for a few more minute before they started passing it out. Long story short my wife and children started getting impatient after not recieving our food within a timely manner so we got up and left on some hungry stomachs. My wife and one son settled for Wendy’s and other son and I settled for Roxbury’s in Oxnard. We weren’t the only patrons that left without receiving anything but water. I am really disappointed that the service was horrible and that I didn’t get to try my country chicken fried steak. They won’t be seeing us again. Thanks for nothing.

Service was a little slow but excellent nonetheless. Gail, our server, was sweet as can be and the food was excellent! Definitely a country feel that was down to earth, warm and genuine. I’ll be back to try more!

Slow service. I understand the ‘going down to one’ server mid day, but not at the expense of the customers time. Food was sub standard. Would not go out of my way to try this place again.

Service was great. The food was bad. The biscuits in my biscuits and gravy that were advertised as homemade tasted like store bought day old biscuits. The owner was to rude when my mother complained about her omelet not being fully cooked. Nothing special here.

Well what could I say not much service was bad food was not only tasteless but cold as well I can’t even say the coffee was good even after the manager ask how was everything I said not very good and the coffee was the same won’t be back good luck 2

Found this gem while visiting Ventura I don’t come to the area without eating here. The food is always good and the service is outstanding. Gail is amazing!!!

i love this place. Outstanding customer service. They have this sweet lady as a server with a positive attitude like honestly, I was so hungry when I got there (and you know how impatient anyone could be when you’re starving) lol but the way she welcomes you & accommodates the need of her customers are exceptional. I’m very impressed on how she handled/​served all the tables while I was there for the fact that she’s the only one serving at that time. Fast service. And the food is good!!!

It’s like coming home! The love is in the service and the food!!! It only open until 2:00 p.m. Perfect for breakfast and lunch! Their soups are awesome! Real Home cooking!!!

Amazing!!! Everything was just amazing! Food, service! Walked right in sat down. food was out in 15 mins .our waitress Gayle was the sweetest lady on Earth! A little hole in the wall restaurant. but come on now these are the best ones. You literally feel right at home! I had Chilaquiles and my cousin had chicken fried steak. Came right before work and was done comfortably with enough time to spare. Will definitely be our go to place.

I love this place! Great biscuits and gravy, haven’t had a bad dish even once! Added plus is that I can bring my dog. By the way Unilocal,you say it is closed today, they are not, according to the gentleman on the phone they are only closed on Christmas day

No bueno. Food was mediocre.
Eggs Benedict = very average. Not great. Not bad. There was unmelted American cheese on the English muffin.
Gravy=not good. Below average.
Toast had margarine on it. Yuck.
Country fried steak is terrible. It’s going home to the dog.
The hash browns were crispy and good.
The service was just ok. When we saw our waitress, she was delightful. Her name was Gail M.
The busboy forgot my water twice & when I asked for ½ cocoa & ½ coffee, he gave me coffee.
We won’t be returning.

Bad neighbor’s.they have a hedge that has broken thru the fence many times and blocks cars speeding away from the tattoo parlor from seeing pedestrians. there is always dog crap on the sidewalk as well as drunks on the patio after dark. more disturbing is the toxic trail of mop water grease and God knows what else they feel entitled to dump out the backdoor into the street. maybe spend less on four open signs and more on making the place presentable outside

I look forward to coming to eat breakfast, 2 to 3 times a month. Hector is a good server

Best stick to your ribs biscuits and gravity in town. I ordered the medium B&G. Came with two biscuits and a bunch of white sausage gravy, great flavor.
Service was great, just as in past reviews by other Unilocalers.
I’ll be bringing family back with me to enjoy this!

I stopped by on a Monday morning. DW’s Country Café is in a nondescript strip mall immediately adjacent to a bail bonds shop. It’s decorated with eclectic items and it looks like it’s been around for generations.
Gale was the staff member who helped me. She was warm and genuinely friendly. It was like having breakfast at a friend’s house.

Love this Place! Came here six years ago and had a delicious Breakfast a few times. Great customer service waitress was polite and refilled my drink. Great place to grab Breakfast if you are in the area.
