Fresh Burrito Mexican Grill

Fresh Burrito is one of the best Mexican food places I have ever
been too. This was my first time coming here but most certainly not my last. The burritos are perfect. The tortilla is soft, yet holds everything together, not one bit was dropped. The meat is tender and just makes your taste buds melt.
The owner is one of the nicest restaurant owners you will actually meet. He takes the time to talk to you like a person, not just a customer. And he is fast! We had our burritos in less than 3 minutes. I will definitely be coming back to try everything else on the menu. 100% recommended.

This place didn’t give everyone diarrhea, like every other restaurant on Johnson Dr (except for Cronies).
The shrimp cocktail would have been absolutely perfect if the shrimp had been good. If they shrimp wasn’t dry and weird, the dish would have been spectacular, an A+. My review would certainly have been 4 stars if the shrimp didn’t ruin the shrimp cocktail.
And they didn’t have any draft beer. At all.

The service where was excellent! They make you feel so comfortable and at home. Nothing but smiles!
The food was really good. I got the enchiladas I didn’t like the rice to much but hey I’m picky as is.
Its definitely a little hidden gem that I’m going to visit a lot more often!
I also have a severe shellfish allergy… I forgot to ask about it in the beginning of my order and frankly just didn’t see that they have shrimp. But I didn’t have an allergy and they reassured me that I am cared for.
Will be coming A LOT more often!

Delicious, authentic Mexican food for a reasonable price. Everyone was very friendly behind the counter. The gentleman who took my order offered many other items that weren’t on the menu. I ordered Chile Verde, which is not on the menu, and it was great. The place itself is small with only a few tables to sit at, but I’d highly recommend it for take-​out. Probably the best burrito I’ve had in Ventura.

I had my husband’s 40^th birthday catered from them today and they did a WONDERFUL job!!!
I will start with customer service — the owner Armando is wonderful. He promised me delicious food and prompt service and he delivered. Having never eaten at the restaurant I was hesitant to order catering for an event. Armando was helpful, answered all of my questions and even gave me his cell phone number in case I needed to reach him. He assured me that the food would be delivered and I did not have to worry about having enough food. He even called me the day before to check in and assure me everything would be delivered in time.
Delivery — Food was delivered on time, well-​packaged and piping hot.
Food — We ordered chicken and carne asada tacos for 35 people and received the meats, beans, rice, tortillas, chips, salsa, onions and cilantro, grilled jalapeños and guacamole. The portions were generous and the food was DELICIOUS. All of our guests commented on how good the food was and the delicious seasoning on the chicken and carne asada. The beans and rice are flavorful and a perfect complement to the tacos. The chips were fresh and the salsas and guacamole were spicy but not too hot so everyone could enjoy. We had plenty of leftovers and sent doggie bags home with most of our guests.
I cannot say enough about the delicious food and positive experience. We will definitely be repeat customers.
I highly recommend them for catering.

Pros, Cons, then summary
I went here for food for my family.
PROS – well, it does have an authentic feel to it, at least the burritos. The burritos were ok, and the quesadillas were small enough for the kids. I had the corn burritos, and they were about the same price as the other places in ventura.
CONS – Well, the place is dirty for starters. Only one TV was working, and it didn’t have sports on. The owner seemed rather surly, and unfriendly. The corn burritos were very bland, and I’m almost certain they were bought at Costco and resold here. There isn’t any ambiance here, so don’t plan on eating here. I wouldn’t mind so much, but the food just wasn’t that good. The one star is for the bland tasting corn burritos, uncaring owner, dirty place to eat, and it took too long to get my food. Plus, there isn’t a beer on tap.
Would I go here again? No. Mexican Express, Corrales, Johnny’s, Lalos, Maggie’s and La Parilla are all better than this place. For Ventura locals, you’ll know about these other places, so I recommend any of them over this place. FYI, it’s right next door to Cronie’s…so you might as well just go there as at least they have TVs with sports… and beer on tap.

Stopped by this place becasue I was in the mood for some mexican food and in the area, what a great spot! Cold beer on tap and a nice torta de hamon, Delicious!

I was coming back from San Francisco to LA and I got hungry for Mexican food, I got off the 101 and looked on my phone for a Mexican restaurant. Really close by was «Fresh Burrito» Mexican grill. I decided to try it and it turned out to be a great choice. Friendly owners and the Al Pastor burrito was delicious. A lot of meat and tasty. Totally would recommend this place if you happen to go through Ventura.

My wife generally gets it right when she recommends a place to eat to eat good Mexican food like Los Agaves in SB, or Corrales on Thompson, but not this place. Food is old contrary to it’s name. Drop the mic!

Not good food… Asada was old meat!!! The salsa bar was nasty. I said to the owner that the meat was old. But he didn’t care and said oh well. Really HOT No ac super hot. Really disappointed never again will i go. Food poisoning.

A great authentic Mexican restaurant! Armando is incredibly friendly and a general joy to be around. Food was a ¹⁰⁄₁₀. Will definitely be back!

Armando is a class act! Ordered 12 breakfast burritos 2 days ago (6 chorizo 6 asada) for the guys at work and they were all delicious! It was my third time here and it’s still exceptional! Haven’t had lunch or dinner here, but I’m sure it’s just as good. Next to Cronies off Johnson and you would never know its there. Do yourself a favor, go here for Bfast at least! Thanks Armondo!

The best customer service. They deliver! Food has great flavor. Chicken taquitos two thumbs up and breakfast burritos are delicious.

I just had surgery, am unable to cook, and we were really hungry. I looked up on Unilocal a breakfast delivery place and found this place. They were very nice and delivered in 20 minutes. It was my first time having food from here and I am very happy with what we ordered. The portions on the breakfast plate was more than enough. The breakfast burrito was very big and am told was delicious. I look forward to going to the actually place once I recover.

Have the best posole !! The closest to tasting like my moms even on a hot day I eat it because it’s so delicious! But it is always so hot in there where I’m just sweating when I walk in they need some air conditioning or a fan! Other than that I love it !!

If there was a way to give more stars for this place, I would do so. We got two breakfast burritos, both of which still gives us the kind of gas that makes you chuckle every time it escapes. Bacon breakfast burrito? Please. The last time I tasted something that good I was eating shrooms and licking local tree bark. Carne asada breakfast burrito will make it seem like life up to this point wasn’t worth living.
Oh, and not to mention the service. Not only was the owner directly responsible for the best meal of my life, but he also paid off my school loans. And the best part — all of this was done with a smile.
Go here and eat the food. All of it. And tell them I sent you, and he will give you extra meat in your burrito as well a kiss on the cheek.

One of the best hole in the wall Mexican food restaurants in Ventura. I always go in and order a breakfast burrito and he makes it how I like with double meat and it’s only $ 6.50. You can’t beat that!
