Established in 1988.

Doug has been a licensed real estate broker since 1988 and has been previously certified by the Superior Court in San Bernardino as an expert in real estate. He owned and operated a real estate brokerage from 1988 to 2000, including a period of time as an owner of a Re/​Max franchise. He also earned the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation [His CCIM certification is not currently active, because he has not paid the high annual dues to keep it active as he is not currently brokering commercial properties], making him a recognized expert in the disciplines of commercial and investment real estate1. He believes that real estate, either publicly owned through REIT investments or through privately owned real estate, is an integral part of a properly diversified investment portfolio.

Recognizing the need for more diverse knowledge, Doug began a full time master’s degree program at Columbia University in New York in September 2000. He completed the program in May, 2001,

Business Owner

Doug Michie brings a depth of experience and education to his role as your estate & financial planning, trusts & probate and real estate lawyer. Doug began his work life when he entered the military at age 17. After his honorable discharge from active duty he began college on the GI bill, graduating from U.C. Davis with a BS in biochemistry in June 1978. Doug was then accepted into the rigorous law program at Pepperdine University. There he received his JD, cum laude, in December 1980. He immediately began a legal career which included serving as an in house counsel for Travelers Insurance Company, and as a deputy district attorney for the County of Los Angeles. Ultimately he established the Michie Law Firm in March 1988.
