I came here for the Des Plaines River Trail Races. This is the start and finish area. Unlike a major race, this series is really small and utilizes the park space to host their event. Tents were set up for food, first aid, water, etc. The race started off pretty chilly but was mild and sunny come the end of the race. Race organizers and participants were respectful of nature and made it a point to pick up any trash and be as ecofriendly as possible.

My God. This place is gorgeous. Forget all the forest preserves nearby, or rather, the so claimed«forest preserves» elsewhere but are really just a walk in the park. Birds chirping, lily pads, blue clouds and beautiful sunset. Ponds and bridges. Well marked paths. The only thing missing maybe is lights for at night. Plenty of picnic tables, gazebos. I have yet spotted the bathroom though. This place is clean and well maintained. It’s as close to nature as you will get out in the burbs. In fact I was so excited about my walk that my workout was twice as good as elsewhere. Beautiful, scenic, bring a lover, bring a friend, bring a pet and shed some sweat. My mood got so much better after I visited here. Thank you for putting our tax dollars to good use!
