History

Established in 1998.

The building is and old good gulf gas station which we turned in to and old country store and deli. Gertie and I {tammy Gerties daughter ] Started with a grill from Walmart and a fryer from Walmart we worked are way up to commercial grill and fryer, we are a simple country store in Vesuvius with a lot of loving costumers and neighbor’s and friend, So if your looking for good old country comfort or just plain folks come on in.

I’m just a simple country girl raised in Virginia, learn to cook from my grandmother and mother. The pulled pork recipe is my grandmother and she also showed me a lot of things in the kitchen, she was a cook for many years at a local restaurant. She was my best critic and showed me how to take criticism because if it not right it just not right, she really was the one to give me the confidence to open Gertie’s Also my mom has had a big influence in my life she is my partner and my best friend in the business. We both worked in factory’s with no experience in the restaurant business we took a chance and learned really fast and made a lot of mistakes and had a lot of help along the way from friends and even our customers’ well jump in an help it really feels like home.
