Creepy, old, stinky motel! Who called it «hotel»? Will never stay here again!
We came late after about 400 miles drive and what we got was some scene from old horror movie. The hotel sitting in some pit, nobodys around but creepy leaves blown by the wind… We got a room on a back where a swimming pool is. I felt something hanging over my head. WOW! It was a walkway over swimming pool from the second hotel floor to the top of the pit where the hotel is sitting. The walkway led to a huge parking lot on the top of the hill or pit or whatever it was… Room to the left and room to the right were empty with broken blinds and open curtains. Light was inside so you could see that may be they decided to repair something. I dont know but it was very unpleasant to be there at night knowing that nobody is around — very dark outside…
Everything was very old in that room. Ive got a feeling that traces and smells of millions of people are around. Sink had rust or something around it, toilet bowl and tub so old that I felt pity using them… lol… There was no outlet near bed so to charge my laptop and phone I had to move side table, unplug clock and lights… WOW! Smell was horrible. Even now after a month I still can smell it…
Later at night people started coming. Huge road construction trucks etc… You get an idea. People started talking, going in and out (unloading) — very noisy.
I had no chance to meet any employees — probably they are great!
Good about hotel:
1. Dog friendly — dont forget to pay extra 15 bucks!!!
2. Bed was clean
3. Hot breakfast was not bad
4. TV, internet, frig, microwave — worked
5. Water was hot
No more Quality Inn in Vicksburg! …And La Quinta was just a minute away!

Horrible place to stay. There were no outlets on the night stand, sink had whiskers and coffee grinds coating my bathroom sink. If you are looking for cheap this would be it and you get what you paid for. Staff seemed friendly which is the only redeeming quality.

My boyfriend and I are moving from VA to TX and have been staying in choice hotels to save a little $$. We have had great experiences at the past 4 we have stayed in, but this one was distinctly worse. I was between 1 – 2 stars but bumped it up to 2 due to the very nice service from all employees and the awesome complimentary beer/​popcorn reception when we arrived.
We did not expect luxury/​frills, but we did expect basic cleanliness. The bathroom had small, dark hairs all over the floor and in the shower. GROSS. Noticeable rust in the shower and in the corners of the bathroom. The rest of the room desperately needed upkeep. The chairs and comforter were very stained. Everything looked very old. The bed was actually very comfortable and the sheets were clean.
Breakfast was the same as other quality inns, expect the coffee was luke warm :/​
All in all… yes it was inexpensive, but not up to par with other quality inns.

Having just stayed in this hotel I can readily say that this Quality Inn delivered up the pleasant surprise of a great experience.
When issues were discovered in the first room I was given, I was moved without question to another. My bed was very comfortable and the room very decent, clean, and spacious.
When I sought refreshments, Paulette and Bobbi at the front desk delivered up suggestions for local fare that went over very well and fit my cost range.
The complimentary breakfast could have used fresher biscuits and a few more hot choices, but was otherwise very well stocked with morning eye-​openers that got my day off to a great start.
The décor desires an upgrade and steam from the shower revealed how some things in the room were wiped in haste and could have used more attention, but this oversight is probably the cost of not having enough help. A television guide would have stopped me from having to channel surf and the remote, although simple in appearance, proved more trouble than it was worth.
In closing, this hotel should be given a real hard look if you want a no frills, comfortable, straightforward stay, at a well delivered price.

Not a bad older hotel bought by choice hotels. Comfortable rooms. Very friendly staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It’s close to everything Vicksburg has to offer. Plus getting points for the stay is a plus. They offer evening snacks as well. No complaints here.

Would not stay here again.
My biggest complaint about this hotel is the NOISE.
(1) The walls must be very thin, because we heard our neighbors television loud and clear from 1 am (when we arrived) until 8 am. Our neighbor also had a dog (or two?) who seemed to whine all night.
(2) The highway goes right over the hotel (or at least over the part of the hotel in which we stayed) and the highway noise was loud.
Needless to say, all three of us had an AWFUL night of sleep.
The entrance of the hotel is confusing at one in the morning; we had to turn into another hotel and go to the back of their parking lot to find the entrance.
Dogs are allowed, but they apparently don’t enforce a leash rule, as we saw multiple dogs running around without any supervision. (I personally don’t want dogs running free towards my child, so I was no pleased with this.)
The hotel did have a small fridge, which was nice.
Breakfast was decent — eggs and sausage, waffles, bagels, etc.
I originally picked this hotel because of the good reviews it received on google, but I was very disappointed. I won’t be staying here again.

I wasnt expecting a 4star hotel for a one star price, so this wasnt bad. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was basic and clean. Nice bonus was a fridge and microwave. What is super about this hotel is the location… literally right outside the Vicksburg National Military Park.

The long trek from Atlanta, GA was exhausting. All we wanted was a decent meal and a comfortable place to lay our heads, but this was Vicksburg, MS, one of the most famous sites of Civil War lore. Here the earth had been littered with human carnage until almost exactly 150 years before the July afternoon we arrived, when Lt. General Pemberton of the CSA surrendered to General Grant and brought one of the bloodiest episodes in American history to a close. I wanted to walk the fields that I’ve read so much about, but that would have to wait, we needed to eat and rest.
Vicksburg is a town rooted in the nineteenth century trying desperately to find a place in the twenty-​first. It has a fractured persona that clings to its place in history as the city the Union took, but not without paying the bloodiest of prices. The Confederacy went down fighting valiantly and today even African-​American Vicksburgians lay claim to an uncomfortable history of bravery and perseverance.
We pulled off the interstate 20 and was relieved to see a gleaming new and clean multi-​story edifice with signs that read Quality Inn, alas the pretty building was the Hampton Inn; the Quality Inn signs led through their parking lot, right pass it and out the back where a darker, dingier, more weathered structure blocked my escape; it was the Vicksburg Quality Inn.
This was the final night of an eleven day tour, most of it spent at Choice Hotels, with varying degrees of appeal. After the previous night in Smyrna, GA where the Comfort Inn Suites had been a marvelous respite from the road we had a right to expect more and this wasn’t it. I remember thinking that the name Quality had become a bad joke, akin to a 300 lb. linebacker named Tiny. The day we arrived the lobby looked like a Medicare convention. The polite front desk lady informed us that it was a Confederate Veterans Convention, to which I quipped, that would make them really old. She smiled politely with pen in hand at the a-​hole before her; happens when I’m tried and cranky and about to occupy the polar opposite of what we’d enjoyed just the night before.
We ascended the dirty elevator and followed the grime to our room. Inside I had to unplug the microwave to plug in the lamp; the chairs were rickety, the double-​double bed layout standard and the décor was the same dinge that seemed to envelope the entire facility. The environment combined with the septuagenarian convention had an Edgar Allan Poe veneer about it that even the complementary Budweiser, cheese and meatballs did nothing to assuage. To say that I would not recommend this inn to anyone is to lend it credence as an inn.
We dined on takeout from KFC which we’d bought before I read the «B» on the sanitary certificate. Somewhat relieved that the ranking resulted from «not observed» rather than «failed to comply» we bought some Abita brew at the local supermarket and went back to the «QI», ate and crashed. Stirred from an uneasy sleep at 3:00 AM, we swallowed a dose of probiotic yogurt drink to ward off any evil spirits from the previous night’s repast; collected our baggage and lit for the exit. The lobby was closed, but we found a thick Lucite window similar to a convenience store in a shoddy neighborhood that fronts a night office. We rang the bell and when no one appeared we left the keys and jammed.
I am pleased to recount that the Military Park is open to walkers, runners and cyclists 24 hours a day. It is the one location in Vicksburg that must not be missed. With flashlight in hand we made our way along the 2.5 mile path (there is also a 16 mile) reading the plaques and monuments that detailed the pain that men can inflict on other men. As the night sky broke and gave way to the misty morning light, we caught the first glimpse of deep shadows marking the ridges that the Union soldiers must have used to hide from the light artillery barrage that rained on them for days. A crimson scrimmage, yards at a time paid in limbs and lives. I reflected on the lack of field triage units and imagined what it must have been like to hear the moans and pleas of the dismembered and dying as infantry on both sides tried to sleep before doing it all over again the next day. I ran my fingers over the cannons and imagined trembling fingers trying to light fuses in the morning fog. Both sides paid a steep price and forever marked a place in our history as one nation, north and south; The United States of America.
Do visit Vicksburg, Mississippi, the town folk can use the business, but spare yourself the downers; don’t eat at KFC, don’t pass through the parking lot, stop at the Hampton Inn, there’s nothing worth seeing out back.

This is a typical mid-​level hotel. The rooms are standard with inexpensive furnishings and just adequate comfort. There is a flat panel TV (about 32 inch), and the room was clean. Other than that, nothing special. At $ 65.00 on a Thursday night, it was far less of a value than the $ 32.00 I paid the night before at the Horseshoe in Tunica for a very large, comfortable room with nice furnishings.
The reason I chose this hotel was location. It is directly across from the Vicksburg National Military Park. The entrance is confusing, because it doesn’t have its own drive. You have to turn into the lot at the Hampton Inn next door, then wind around a narrow drive to the Quality Inn. Pay attention, because your GPS may try to have you turn elsewhere (as mine did), and then it’s a pain trying to get back around.
Also, there was a lot of LOUD noise early in the morning making it impossible to sleep in. Not sure what all it was or where it was coming from, but it lasted a long time.
