Founded by James R. Tate and Douglas E. Bywater, Tate, Bywater, Fuller, Mickelsen & Tull («Tate Bywater») has grown from one office in Vienna, Virginia to a multi-​office full service law firm serving the entire Washington metropolitan area. Jim T.

Business Owner

Jim has over 40 years of experience practicing law. Jim has focused his practice on civil litigation, criminal defense (including white collar), domestic relations, and personal injury. He has been a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam with the 101^st Airborne Division. He has also served as an Assistant United States Attorney and as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Douglas Bywater, Gary Fuller, Paul Mickelsen, and Travis Tull currently join Jim as partners and owners of the firm: Tate, Bywater, Fuller, Mickelsen & Tull, PLC (Tate Bywater). Each of the five partners has a peer review rating of «AV-​Preeminent» from Martindale-​Hubbell, the highest peer rating an attorney can obtain.
